I love how you can tell that this was played by someone who actually has played Spyro before and is confident enough in their abilities to play a little fast and risky unlike every IGN demo ever where the playstyle is so stale and safe.

The person who's playing this is really good at the game and has more than likely played Spyro before, they seemed to know what they were doing, unlike some people who have tested it :P We finally get to see the Hover mechanic being used at 03:05 :D Also glad to see Toys For Bob still kept the 'Skill Points' in this game, like for flaming all the plant pots in this level ;)

Not alot of use for hover in what we have previously seen. Hover was only introduced in #2, and they cant add hover into the first because of level design. Idol Springs - I believe you need hover to make your way across the upper roofs but thats about it.
Meh, they still come off a tad bit awkward at times IMO, and while I like this remaster, it’s flawed definitely somethings where lost in translation in the art direction this time around.
Also the livelyness somehow feels hollow ATM? Like little actions for instance player, and NPC interactions such as unwarranted combat on a NPC resulting in a oomf, or a jump in pain by the NPC

Honestly, I LOVE the new Hunter here. He feels less like a stagnet NPC and more like a character. Not just in voice acting, but in his design here!

Bro. I was fucking 5 and now i'm 21. Year of the Dragon was literally the very first game I ever bought. This might be too much for me. I even bought the Spyro 2 and 3 like 5 years ago on ps3 backwards compatibility. This is gonna ring me back AGAIN

I own all 3 of the original PS1 Spyro games! I bought none of them online, either! It took me literal months of tracking all 3 of them down in secondhand shops! And my copies work beautifully!😁

Ngl, Hero's tail was definitely a break from the original spyro games... Enter the dragonfly tried way too hard to be like the trilogy, but I believe hero's tail brought something new but at the same time it still really felt like a spyro game... It was very non linear too, having to go back and fourth between places and in a way it still felt like a collectathon ( in a good way )... Though honestly the only reason why it isn't as great as it could have been is because of the spyro game before it that ruined spyro's reputation... And that some of the minigames later were WAYYYYY too difficult, even to this day it is a hellish challenge trying to 100% the game with some of the light gem versions of the minigames.... Which could easily have ruined it for the kids playing it wanting to get everything.
I don't know how to feel about Hunter's voice. He sounds like a chill dude, but used to be a doofus.

Everything is looking awesome with reignited. My only peeve is that the baby dragons don’t have their little details. Vanessa had a pink bow, Miles had a ball cap, another had eyeglasses... sorry it’s been a hot minute since I played this one but I was hoping that they’d allow the babies to keep their charm but so far they aren’t cute like the original. Also yes the hatching sequence is rushed as many have pointed out. Okay I’m done knit picking. I’m going through and playing the originals know atm until the game comes out. I still want the game too. Love it.

Damn, the environment is spot on, and the camera motion made the skateboard gameplay feel more intense and 'speedy'.

I can’t agree more. The baby dragons use to look very adorable and had fun animations now they look like they are dumb and derpy. As much as I love what toys for bob has done I extremely dislike all the baby dragons this go around.... plz fix it toys for bob! ❤️

The one thing I say they need to fix is the loading times. Especially when you respawn after dying. It takes way too long to come back, especially compared to the original game 😒
Other than that, everything looks great 😀. I like how the eggs break open faster when collected and I actually like Hunter’s new voice 🙂👍.

My problem is less the respawn times and more the weird animation they felt necessary to display in the meantime.
Milbox R and it took them a year to fix that. Hopefully it won’t be the case here, even though I never had a problem with the long loading times in Crash somehow.

Zoe's outfit looks brighter and i love the Rynocs designs! The animation for the eggs and some NPCs are *clearly* not finished, Daisy's animation was pretty "stuttery", and Sanders looked like a robot attempting the chicken dance, might as well put him T-Posing to show that the game is still in development hehe
I'm slightly disappointed that you didn't attempt the Sheila segment glitch, even tho i'm 100% sure it isn't a thing in this remake.
MalDambão I’ve noticed a lot of the baby dragons need hella work on their animations. Probably part of the polishing they said they’re gonna do with this delay
I heard they pulled all the objects and collision straight from the original ROMs, same with Crash, so maybe those glitches still exist?
I'm sure if he tried that it would have, A: broken the demo, B: kicked him from the demo for being in a place he's not supposed to be in, or C: brought him to a really broken, unfinished Sheela section
I hope that the baby dragon animations are still being worked on them personally I think they aren't good enough yet
I'm sure they are. They have pushed the release date to November to make it so you don't need a patch to get the other two games with the first one, so maybe that's something they'll work on in the meantime.

Bonga Ngombane Original Spyro 1-3 voices sounded very comical, cool & amusing the way it's supposed to be! Now characters sound serious, no egg hatching animations, & Spyro walking in portal animations are missing..

And god I love how cocky Hunter sounds now. I don't care anymore who voices him. They do such a great job at captivating his character. He sounds younger now...tbh it reminds me a little bit of his Hero's Tail voice. Just a little.
The only thing I don't like is how quick the eggs open; It's supposed to be a surprise to see what the dragon will do, and it adds to the anticipation!
I get the some people want it quick, but that's why you can always skip the egg with the Start or X button
Also the lack of any satisfactory sound effect or jingle to let you know you did a good. It'd be like remaking a Mario game without the 1-up sound effect.

Yeah I prefer the old graphics too... It's hard to explain but this just looks too neat and smooth. It looks like an android/iphone game, it's so hard to explain, but nothing really looks natural to me. Sometimes, less is more.

TfB are doing a great job of listening to fan feedback to get it as close to the original as possible, especially with the skyboxes. Have a feeling most of the weird things we see now will be gone by release.

The baby dragons look kinda ugly now compared to the adorable toothless fellas in the original game. Also, it appears that the NPCs doesn't react to your attacks either at 1:01 which is another downside

I hope there is still work to be done. A lot of the NPCs are supposed to talk to you after rescuing them and here they don’t, no giant chicken and the dragon eggs are super fast it’s awkward.
Well considering the game was just delayed by 2 months so they could continue working on it...I'd say so....
I ain't buying it if you can't torture the NPCs by burning them/ramming them. I want to burn the lions!

Yup. The last few rhynocs will try to kill it, but you can save the giant chicken and it roams about after you complete the level.
Why is the voice actor (original?) not using his original DELIVERY with Hunter though? Hunter used to have a slow, relaxed pronunciation with every spoken line. It's what made the character so authentic and funny. The new delivery sounds like he's an edgy, generic mascot tring to sell cereal. I understand that voice actors get older and their voices change (obviously that can't be helped) but this feels like it's beyond just a voice change. Sorry if I'm coming off nitpicky. Maybe I'll warm up to it.
The original voice actor Gregg Berger is voicing other characters, but as Hunter he has been replaced by Robbie Daymond. My guess is that for the Reignited Trilogy they wanted to up the voice quality and I have to admit, the new voice fits the very carefree attitude of Hunter. It certainly is jarring as a big fan of Year of the Dragon, but I'll get used to it.
@@Ebakthecat , I'll have to disagree. Hunter's new voice sounds very generic and too nonchalant. It's almost as if the voice actor can't wait to quit and go home.

I agree with what you're saying, but my criticism is more with the change in delivery than with the voice. Since posting my original comment, I've learned that they are using a different voice actor entirely though so a new approach to Hunter's voice and delivery is easier to accept. You're right. I still have my original PS1 versions and still enjoy them to this day. I can easily compartmentalize between both the old and new adaptations.
Oh wow it's so beautiful and the music sounds just like I remembered! Everything looks so great, although I'm sad they got rid of the egg hatching animation and made it an instant shatter instead. On the bright side the baby dragons are just as precious and adorable as they were before!

I prefer ALL of the original voices. Most of the new voices sound like they pulled Joe-Bob off the street and offered him $20 to read some lines.

Props for playing this like someone who's actually played Spyro! Yessss. Also wow they really spaced out the underground bit where the wood bits are in the skateboarding area. I remember ramming into those a lot more.
They are playing the same way I did back in the day. Always charging/sprinting to get where I need to go. Lol. But the new gallop is actually awesome so I might have to do that more now in this game. I'm so looking forward to this trilogy. I'm not even mad it got delayed because I want it to be the best it can be, even tho I want it so bad and am teasing myself with all these videos. Can't wait. I love Spyro being remastered but to be honest, i dont like the new characters design, they look very generic and soulless. I wouldve liked them to respect the original character design because they were so dear for many of us. Also the fairy kinda sucks; but well, at least spyro and sparx look decently nice.

Awesome. 3D platformers have got my favorite game genre. Just pure joy. But it's been almost dead for last 10+ years. I hope we will see many new original titles from that genre in the future.

I love how they gave it a major graphic overhaul and changed certain things but managed to not stray away from the original like many others do. Original has the awesome music while an egg is hatching. Now? It autohatches when you come close, without any of the charm that the original had.

I dunno if it's because it's still in developement but... I actually do not like any of the new npc character models so far. They don't seem to look at spyro, but off into to distance. While that could be due to it not being finished yet, the models are just butt ugly. I don't know, the original had cute little designs for npcs, these lions are kinda okay but also a little terrifying... Those things in idol spring and colossus look like the abomination from that gummy bear song from 2007 tho...
*Guy in the beginning:* Can you help our town?
*Spyro:* Sure, hehe. Let me start... helping your town by breaking every precious vase and burning any potted plants I can find.

This is the teeniest nitpick, but I'm disappointed they removed the little build-up to the dragon eggs hatching. In the original it felt more rewarding to me to have that little pause between finding the egg and seeing that adorable, silly baby dragon, but here it's just like "here's an egg, super brief and not nearly as charming animation, buh-bye!"
Knowing more about game design now, I figure in the original that pause was probably just there to load the dragon model, but still, I miss that.
Sunny Villa and Stone Hill music themes are almost as good as original which makes me happy:)
Although not all changed for the best....
