I'm usually scared shitless of spiders of any kind, but this male tarantula's careful yet clusmy yet determined trampling around while searching for the female was one of the funniest things I've ever seen, and I don't know why. Yeah, Aphonopelma Chalcodes are awesome animals! The longer it takes for a female to mature to adulthood, the longer they generally live.
This species, their females take nearly TEN years to mature, and so can live nearly 30 years easily, female Lasiodora Parahybanas, Birdeaters grow like weeds, and can become fully grown in five years or so, and normally live 10-15 years.
