For a second I thought it was going to be the NC750 under the cover and that Wendy was going to start using it lol. I think the BMW will work well for her though. Congrats on the new bike!
Congratulations! I must admit that when I saw the 310 my first thought was "Aha! He's bought his better half a new bike!" After 10 years on Suzukis, my wife starrtd on a trip through the BMW xxxxR range about 10 yeras ago. First of all the F800R, then an R1200R and for the last 5 years an R1250R. She is vertically challenged and although very fit is still on the wrong side of 60. The 1200 and 1250R with their low seat option make the bike a feasible proposition. With a few tweaks it has worked really well as a tourer (tarmac and gravel). The power and torque is brilliant in such a compact bike and the cruise control is worth its weight in gold on long trips. 60,000+ kms and she still doesn't want to give it up.
As a senior citizen, I drive the BMW G310GS now for more than a year. For almost 40 years I drove many bikes [50+]. Must say the weight, the comfort and the fuel economy of the 310 and furthermore the steering and off road driving capabilities, it is an OK bike for me. It's light and very easy to handle. That's what I like about this single cylinder bike. No more heavy bikes for me!
I think it's a good motorcycle with enough power for most of us. Even used ones are quite expensive where I live - because they are so popular. I'm 66 and just got myself a restricted SV650 at the same price. I'ts very good but 40 kg heavier.
I had a brief liaison with a BMW R1200RT but the sheer cost of maintaining it was beyond me - BMW = Bring My Wallet - and I hated the boxer twin engine's weird wobbly vibration. Now I live happily with my NC750X 😎
Oh the tension and build-up, but then you have lead us down the garden path before with you cruel sense of humour! The tiny wheels made me think at first it was a scooter, much like myself having just got the Honda ADV 350! To break it in, just did 1500 miles around Scotland's B & C roads in a week, it made the accompanying 1000cc + stuff look puny with its total ability to do everything, and more! Enjoy the BM, life is for living!
I must admit I assumed it was the AT that had gone, I’ve had a look at one and I found it too heavy and top heavy as well. But I am an old git. Congrats on the new bike !
A bloke at work has the BM and it is impressive how it can be hustled along the fast, winding country road back to town. Its suspension copes very well with the terrible UK roads and it does not lack for speed in the real world. I hope Wendy is delighted with her new toy!
Great purchase: I hope you guys can get out n 'bout for a few overnight adventures on your bikes. Let me know if you're ever up our way (Wauchope) and we can hoot up the Oxley or similar. I had a feeling Wendy wasn't that happy with the Vulcan after the CB500X. Cheers.
The BMW G310 is a good motorbike for Wendy. I hope she will enjoy it for a long time. I'm getting into the years myself and I also considered the G310. In the end, I fell for the Yamaha XSR 700.
Was talking to a guy at my local BMW shop and remarked that he had a nice bike. Did not know it was the 310. Nice full size bike (bigger than the opposition) and he was extremely happy with it. So there goes.
It seems to me that there are a lot of very good machines in the smaller displacement lighter motorcycle category that the G310 occupies. I would have a hard time choosing.
Good one, you got me. I actually thought you downsized as we all do when we can't handle the big bikes no more. I have an Indian Roadmaster that weights over 400kg. I dropped it a few times last year and now I have a 2nd bike, a CB500x that weights less then 1/2 of the Indian. I noticed that I am taking the Honda more and more and the poor Indian less and less obviously. One of these days I have to face reality and sell the Indian :(
Actually, it isn’t too bad even for a big ape like me. I’ve been impressed with it. Much better than I expected. But of course the AT fits me much better.
Cruisers are for young folk, like under 60. Older folk need more adventure! Hopefully this bike helps improve Wendy’s riding comfort and thus extends her time in the saddle.
Hi Adrian, Its kieran from Baiku Rentals. Do i have to get a BMW now for you to visit? as well as an Africa Twin?! I have always liked those little BMWs i think they look great to be honest. I'm interested to see how she goes particularly on gravel roads she tries with it. cheers
Why did I just know you where playing tricks on us, even before clicking the video, Ooh well nice littel bike for her, will you put other tires on it for all the gravel roads you have ?
@@AfricaTwin-Stuff Ahh ok and yes tyres, sorry for my poor english I´m a dane so it is`t my first language and I`m too lazy to use a dictionary, the 310gs should be a very light and easy to handle bike with a low center of gravity and with good comfort, I have a Work colleague who got one and use it for commuting and back roads fun and he love it, he is also getting older and did`t want a big heavy bike anymore, but did`t want to stop riding either.
No, couldn't see you changing the AT so initially thought Wendy 's going back to a CB500X. A bit of a surprise the BMW however hopefully it's a good one for her. Do you think it would be OK to tour on, add luggage etc?
Tour? Yes it would be. But Wendy’s health will probably not see her do any more long trips, sadly. Luggage? If we DO do any more trips my AT can carry luggage for both of us. Time will tell.
We are very pleased and excited to see Wendy’s new bike, and hope it is a comfortable bike for her to log up many more K’s with you. Of course now she can be a “proper” rider too 😃. Enjoy your trip coming up soon mate and looking forward to seeing you back soon at Jerry’s. 😃🇦🇺🏍
For a second I thought it was going to be the NC750 under the cover and that Wendy was going to start using it lol. I think the BMW will work well for her though. Congrats on the new bike!
Same here
With your workshop skills you could always make Wendy taller !
Ha! But as the saying goes … you can’t be tall AND good looking! Sadly I’m tall.
😂
Congratulations! I must admit that when I saw the 310 my first thought was "Aha! He's bought his better half a new bike!"

Nice choise ,its such fun to ride these lighter bikes. Just hope it can handle highway speeds and rain just as comfortable
Haha that was hilarious! Health to enjoy for Wendy - I'm thinking that the Vulcan maybe better suited to the cruising the highway!
Congrats on the new bike Wendy, we miss your camping videoes, stay safe and enjoy the riding,we havn't been able to get out much lately.
You guys are awesome 👌 happy riding 😊

Good to hear. Thanks
Congratulations Wendy. Cant wait for more videos
Good choice, I knew there was a rabbit off, as soon as you said "perfect fit" haha
:D Happy riding! Have a good time on that nice BMW!

I'm watching it thinking he can't be serious. Then I started thinking nah he's got to be taking the piss and thanfully you were😂😂

Congrats on the new bike !
You are awesome 😂 and make me laugh. If course you own an incredible Africa Twin dct and I could’nt imagine that king of change 😂 Many thanks
Weigh what 150kg and 34 kW. That would ride quite well. Got to look after Wendy!
Good choice i bought a 310gs about 2years ago 2nd hand great little bike im 80yrs old and find it just about perfect for me
Good to hear. Thanks

Thanks mate. Agree “real world” performance is great. I think we get way too hung up on performance spec sheets these days.

Agree. I’m 190cm and was surprised that I fitted on it not too bad. But I’ll only get to ride it if I steal it from Wendy.
@@AfricaTwin-Stuff 😄

Agree. Spoilt for choice.
Good choice.

Yep. Getting old sucks. But anything that keeps us on a bike is a good thing.
I am happy for Wendy.
Gee at first I was thinking "hhhm, wonder if he wants to sell his lifting mechanism??" till the bit where you were kissing the AT lol
I knew even before you sat on the BMW, there was no way you could ride it for more than 30mins without major discomforts.
Actually, it isn’t too bad even for a big ape like me. I’ve been impressed with it. Much better than I expected.
But of course the AT fits me much better.
Gold forks are obviously best. Congrats! Small bikes are the most fun. 🎉
BMW, isn't that a mistake?
Cruisers are for young folk, like under 60.
Older folk need more adventure!
Hopefully this bike helps improve Wendy’s riding comfort and thus extends her time in the saddle.
She’s proudly telling everyone, “my husband bought me a BMW”.
Ha! Wendy is proudly telling everyone SHE bought a BMW! I’m just an innocent bystander.
Good choice for Wendy, rides a lot better than the vulcan 🎉.
How will you be lowering it?
Lowering block is fitted to the bottom end of the shock which lowers 40mm.
Hi Adrian, Its kieran from Baiku Rentals. Do i have to get a BMW now for you to visit? as well as an Africa Twin?! I have always liked those little BMWs i think they look great to be honest. I'm interested to see how she goes particularly on gravel roads she tries with it. cheers
Hi mate. No more Gravel for Wendy. Probably no more long rides either due to health issue.
Ohh you shouldn't have got the "wants" ur NC was better in every way ! Safe travels!
Why did I just know you where playing tricks on us, even before clicking the video, Ooh well nice littel bike for her, will you put other tires on it for all the gravel roads you have ?
Thanks mate. Tyres? No. Will stick to sealed roads as Wendy’s health won’t cope with gravel now.

@grahamglencorse307 - thanks mate. Good to catch up with you both today.
