Thanks for tutorial . Only a remark through my work experience, naming areas is always requested by the department you submit your work to when you work in a firm so it is not recommended to delete area names...

for this being of any use I would need to know how to do 2 things-
    1) I would have to offset the areas to account for plaster, but without actually having to add plaster to the wall family
    2) I need a way to comprehensibly show how the areas were calculated
is that possible without add-ons? (and without spending 2 days on setting it up)

I'd be interested also: for my first project, I'm modeling my apartment building: 9 floors, with 4 apartments/floor. I started with the 2nd floor which is the lowest typical floor, using room numbers 201,202,203... For apartment 2A, I just assign all its rooms to the same department. Once the 2nd floor is finished, I'll copy it to floors 3-9.
QUESTION 1: if I change room 201 to 301, will all other rooms automatically update?
QUESTION 2: if I turn each apartment into a group, and then delete a room from the plan and the schedule, will it update on all floors?
Really enjoying all your videos! You make it easy.

I might misunderstand your question but do as he did on the kitchen walls (quick representation of furniture), he went to wall properties and selected room bounding, so you should only check the ones on the perimeter and then it will count only the total apartment as 1 room, I hope it helps
