Watching Queenie sit out a bomb reminds me of a story my Mum told me about my Gran on her side; On a trip to London when my Mum and Aunt were little, my Gran,my Mum and my Aunt stopped in a cafe for some food when a Police Constable ran in and said everyone needed to evacuate because there'd been a Bomb Scare.
Everyone else started to move like hell but my Gran merely told my Aunt and Mum to stay where they were and carry on eating. When the Constable protested, my Gran replied "If I'm to go, I'm going on a full stomach and besides, I don't recall the Metropolitan Police having paid the One and Tuppence (This was in 1974,before the Decimation Process which brought in 5,10,20 and 50p pieces and got rid of coins like Half Pennies and Three Pence Pieces) for all this lot!"
The Police tried all they could to shift them but when even an Inspector and the Royal Logistics (Bomb Disposal) Captain failed to shift them, they just left them to it.
Long story short, my gran refuses to move for a bomb that never was because she was not willing to waste One and Tuppence!

To fly the flag of a country upside down, look at 8:52, indicates either the flyer is insulting the country represented by the symbol or is asking for help. Which one is Queenie doing?

insulting the cops/authority persons messing with her, another way to say "Up Yours"

As far as the American flag went there is/was only one single official meaning and that's as a distress signal--mainly for use by the Armed Forces. The insult meaning was a popular myth born of ignorance really. It just seemed logical to many people that flying the flag upside down either meant you were insulting the country or are too stupid to notice it was flown upside down. I don't know about you but I've seem FAR more of the later cases, especially with the millinnesl generations. Half the time with them though they don't know they're flying it upside down they just don't know which way it's supposed to be flown is all--kinda like they're convinced the earth is flat, as they're talking to their friend on a sat phone watching the ISS sail by. Lol, although is it more like cry than laugh, after all that incredible mass of millinneals, horribly ignorant by choice, on top of levels of stupidity previously thought utterly impossible outside drooling complete frontal lobotomy patients, yet THOSE things will soon be in control of things--if they can figure out how to get to this control place they keep hearing about. They have been looking really hard too, and see all sorts of others places..gas station places, shopping places, even massage-- why anyone would want to age all at the same time they don't get that either, scratch scratch...oh but anyway, oh yeah...so far nothing with any sign that say control place or domination of the world place...theyll find it though....

Poor quality! Politically incorrect! Black and white! Inaudible theme music!!!!!!...........This all pales into insignificance when you consider the wonderful, talented and beautiful Diana Dors is in the starring role. It is just a PRIVILAGE to see Diana Dors in an early 70s TV situation comedy.

Mike Hudson The black and white screenings were due to the so called "colour strike" by workers at ITV, they were filmed in colour but this was turned off for transmission

Thanks for clarifying, I have heard about this befote. There are episodes of Coronation Street and Upstairs Downstairs I have seen in black and white when I know there was colour around. Thanks again for explaining. Makes sense now. Always a treat to see Diana Dors.

Okay, I like Diana Dors but this episode is just stupid. What mother would willing risk her children’s lives. And yes I know it’s fiction.
