I recently purchased ''Bridge Into The New Age'' and I am blown away. There are 4 people in their respective jam pockets while still somehow being one entity...amazing. Although I am sorry to say I do not know any of his players/session players...the bass especially kicks my ass on this album, wow. I have now ordered everything this man has done as well as the best 'label versions' of each so to speak. Spiritual Jazz and men like Azar must stay alive, vibrant and meaningful for eternity. That is the meaning of life.

Now, there is another (NYU) interview, with Kenny Burrell, a master over 20 years your senior and he SPECIFICALLY talks about transcribing records and learning off the record..to say that "transcribing wasn't a thing"...this man is FOS!

A friend of mine, student of John Abercrombie told me thet John had the same approach: he actually told my friend literally "f@ck transcribing!, record yourself comping and then sing over those changes, record yourself singing and then transcribe that"...
I guess not all the cats learn the same way.
