  • I start tearing down the engine including separating the diff and trans. That ended up being more of a fight than expected but I got it done. In the end, I have the engine on the stand and it is ready for sealage.
For great videos on removing corvair engines and rebuilding them please see the following. These channels really gave me the encouragement to tackle this project I have been putting off for a long time.

I had a 1963 Corvair Monza Spyder convertible with 4 speed in my teens, Had to sell it when I was in college for funds I needed there. Very fun car to drive and I still regret selling it.

Thanks for sharing, that sounds amazing. I have not yet driven one with the 4 speed. I would love that. My lady says I drive this one a little too zippy. I can only imaging how zippy I could be in a 4 speed. lol. I am considering getting a late model hard top in the future for that very purpose. We will see.

Just came across your website ------ I too had a '63 Corvair ------- a Fun car ------ that was 55 years ago ------- If you aren't going to tear the engine completely down ------ NOW ------ would be a good time to at least do a compression test on her to see what condition she is in ------ hate to have you get the engine in car and something just isn't right ------ since your parts order isn't expected for a while ----- might be a good time ----- could save you a head ache later ------ Will follow along ----- they are cool cars ------ Hope you have a Good Week ---------- Rodney

Hello and thank you for your comment. I have owned this one for about 10 years actually, it is really good, just leaks like crazy. This is the first time I ever had it apart though. Still going to try and seal everything I can. I can't wait to get it back on the road. Thank you for watching.
