I'm British and once I went out in the sun, so I know exactly how your Lizard feels.
We only ever do it once 😂
Yep, I've not been in the sun since 1986
You mean you're British, and since you were born it's only been sunny once lmao
@@warrenvanderveer4860 I mean... You arent entirely wrong.
I love that your dragon is mostly calm during the peeling. It shows a lot of care and trust that you’ve built up with the lil beardie!
Thank You
It probably feels good to get that off of him.
But look at the stress marks. He was very stressed
What video did you watch
@@victoriafeldman8825 why do people feel the need to put their ignorance on display?
Helping with stuck shed is always like unwrapping a present with a fresh and happy baby underneath.
Absolutely!!
Why would I put a baby in a present box that’s wrapped…
Is it stuck or would most of that have come off naturally eventually?
@@20thcenturygamer22 Considering its a lizard it would most likely have to rip it off.
This honestly looked and felt therapeutic. Like I get that sometimes the shed can be uncomfortable; but there are shed videos where the reptiles are so relaxed and happy like "Oh yeah thats the spot; thats the shed I can't quite get off."
The inner ear canal was just wicked to look at. I didn't even know the shed went that deep on their bodies.
Thanks
The first thing we learned when I went to college to study animals was you’re not to peel the skin from reptiles. They need to do it themselves.
@@carlamcgath7528he only got what was loose already. Stuck shed is bad
@@laurieb3703eh there were spots were it wasn't that loose like the belly
The closed eyes made it look extra relaxed lolol
When you're peeling his face, especially that ear skin, he looks so relaxed and happy! What a cutie. :)
Yes, thanks
Dragons close their eyes when they don't like what's happening, not because they're relaxed.
@@brennabresee1395 To be fair, I can't imagine having so much activity around your face being a pleasant experience for ANY living being (but I know legitimately nothing about lizards so take my words with some salt).
I wonder if this process might be kind of like going to the dentist--at least when it comes to working around the dragon's face. It feels invasive and you hate it, but it's gotta be done. Plus your teeth (or skin, regarding reptiles) are being taken care of more effectively than you could ever do simply on your own.
@@brennabresee1395 how many accounts do you have? Your ignorance is showing.
I know! He’s like “Oh yeah, get it off human… feels much better” 🦎
I love that you’re only peeling the shed that has already come off on it’s own, thats super important! The belly wasn’t quite ready to go yet and looked a little uncomfortable but otherwise great video! So tired of seeing these others where the shed isn’t ready and the dragon is slapping to get away.
Yes! Thank you!
Yeah, it can be bad for it’s skin
@@BRODY-ON-HEIGHT yes ofc if u peel of the skin forcefully
The belly one made me a bit uncomfortable
I dont even own one or anything thay sheds and know you're not suppose rip old layer if it's not ready apart from hurting it it also harmful.
It is so therapeutic helping my bearded dragon shed, for both him & myself. Still not quite as much as the other week when my corn snake started to shed during the crazy UK heatwave, so I bathed him in Shed Ease, then he just slithered out, still in his bath, while I held his old skin for him to slowly escape from. That was one of the best feelings ever! 😊
as long as the shed is ready and safe to come off its fine to do
@@Animal1Guywhat if the shed skin wasn't ready to come off? (Just curious this never happened to me or anything I saw before I'm just curious)
I've never seen my corn snake shed. I swear he waits till no one's looking, and slithers out of it quickly!
@@Emily-cw7tj it would be like peeling off sunburnt skin that wasn't ready to come off...it would bleed.
@@karenjones1 interesting story, and I can promise on any one and thing I hold dear, is true. This evening my pre-shed corn snake, I decided to give him a bath to help when he was ready to shed. I did that, he decided to do his usual.....evacuation, that I have somehow trained him to do in the bath water instead of his enclosure. 🤷 Took him out & dried him, then decided to let him stay out in a pouch thing I've got for my bearded dragon. Anyway, a couple of hours later, I decided to get him back in his enclosure, as he seemed to be resting. As I went into the pouch, the movement I'd felt earlier was him starting his shed in the pouch. He was more than halfway through, so I just gently held the shed and he finished moving out of it. 😊
I so wish I was joking on this. As you said, it is as therapeutic as removing sunburnt skin, and if they're lubricated enough, to answer an earlier query, just as easy & painless as removing a glove from your own hand.
As the first couple of comments say though, definitely be 110% sure they're ready to shed before assisting, but with time you know that animal so well, you could easily narrow it down to within a 24 hour time frame, if not much less. 🙂
The nose booger at the end, but these guys are always so adorable, and the way they are so happy to have help with shedding, you can see they are content ☺️
Thank You
Must feel like a massage
Bearded Dragon Unboxing
The ear pockets are always the most satisfying ❤️
agreed!
And the noseholes :)
pretty sure certain areas weren't ready to be peeled off
Did this with my female beardy before she passed away, my god the look of relief she gave me... If your beardy is peeling like this, help them out! It's ready to come off! Your dragon will probably be very grateful.
this is true!
I mean, my wife peels like that after a sunburn, and she's happy for help too.
I’m so upset at how many people are harming their pets without realising, please if you decided to get another do your research on WHY not to peel the skin
@@carlamcgath7528 if you don't help them they get what's called "stuck shed" and it gets infected
It's so great how much love you can see especially when pulling the facial skin off. I wish we could know what they are thinking at those times with how happy that face is.
Thank You
I would probably be thinking "thank you for picking my nose for me." 😂
I have a very light form of Ichthyosis, where the skin grows faster than it normally should, which means that I peel like that as well sometimes (in late spring mostly, when it's getting summer). I love watching videos like this, because I always feel exactly what they feel. And IT FEELS AMAZING!!!
I’m jealous I like peeling my skin >:(
Why am I lowkey jealous now
Dang that stuff was super ready to come off! I love your bearded buddies ❤️
Thank You
The amount of trust and love your dragon has for you is so awesome
Thanks for seeing this
Wow, the shed came off so easily, not too uncomfortable for the dragon. He was so patient, just sitting there whilst it was peeled off.
Such a little cutie pie, bless him ❤
The beardie is like "oh yeah that's the spot"
yes! Thank You
He looks terrified
This video shows exactly that your dragons are well cared of. They trust you! ❤
- "Whatcha doing?"
- "Watching a guy peel a lizard. "
I’m not sure why but shed peeling videos when done right are so satisfying
i agree!
That was an impressive whole body shed!!! I've had sections on our beardies come off in bigger pieces, but never the whole body. Is there a trick or good reason that they should have whole body sheds like that and not in pieces or sections? Thanks for putting out there that it should be CRUNCHY (dried) so as not to hurt them and the shed is ready. If you take shed off too soon, the underneath scales are not ready and will actually be a sore and can show a little blood. I'm sure Mongo said thanks ;-)
Thank You
That one big back piece. I could almost hear him say- AHHHHHHHHH THAT FEELS SOOOO MUCH BETTER!
Your little girl is so calm around you. You must be a good dragon dad.
I try!
Oh man this brought back memories. I had 2 ball pythons, a California King snake and leopard gecko and a bearded dragon and I didn’t realize how much I missed that sound
so satisficing, Mongo sits so still for you when he knows you're removing the shed...especially his ear shed he was so still for that like he wants to make sure you get it all in one piece so nothing is left over in his ear...he know you're trying to help him out, he knows you're his buddy., not a rival. as always take care!!!
Thank You
They looked so calm and comfortable! When you peeled the top of the head it looked so happy its really nice to see ❤️🥰
🤗
They close their eyes when they are scared
@@imvivalamilothat's not always true. My beardie isn't scared of anything with me and he loves to sit on my arm and close his eyes. He will close his eyes when I rub his chin.
This guy has tons of experience and knows exactly what he's doing
Thank You
no he doesn't this is actually bad for them
You're actually not supposed to peel their skin off like that unless it's stuck shed. This can damage their scales. If you have to tug on it, then it's not ready.

@@Animal1Guy My boy Darwin is in shed mode right now. Never got that much off at one time, tho
Looks like me having my sunburn peeled off. Pure heaven.
lol yes!
The crispy shed, I think brings the most relief to the dragons and it sounds good! But all shed does well with a good soak, as we can see here, where it's not so crispy. Archimedes and Mongo (I think) are so calm, I expected a solid black beard from Mongo 😂 Thanks for sharing 💙
correct, if you help your lizard shed you must only remove what is loose and ready
That must be a big relief, for your boy/girl! Sometime its difficult for them to shed all by them self. Take care and have a nice Weekend. 🦎🐲 Greetings from Germany 🤗☀️👍
Thank you! You too!
I have to admit, that looks satisfying. For the bearded dragon of course.
oh yes!
Great soaking beforehand. He didn't mind it much. You are always considerate of your babies. 💚💙💚💙💚💙💚💙
Very true!
Ahhh I bet that feels so good. Dry, cracked skin is so tight and itchy!!
It does!
He looks so bright a fresh afterwards. Especially on the tail.
Thank You
I can only imagine the sigh of relief this guy feels lol
Thanks for taking care of him
Bruh, it's so satisfying seeing it come out of the ears.
I hope everyone sees this. Shed should pop off like this when helping, it should feel more like foil and not like cling wrap. Glad you’re helping your little guy!
Thank You true this shed was ready and able to come off safely
Mongo is so handsome!
I love the ear peels.
My Rankin's dragon ended up looking like a superhero during one shed. The back skin lifted and he looked as though he was wearing a cape lol. Made a neat photo lol
so cool! I have had that happen with back shed before also!
@@Animal1Guy they are amazing creatures.
I've got an almost complete shed from one of my Leo's. She had rolled everything down so tight round her armpit she just could break it. Got her onto a table and broke the skin so she could carry on with her shed. Instead she just walked out of her skin as I'd been holding the back piece. Seems she decided that all the effort from her wasn't working lol. Didn't have to check her tors were clear of shed that time 💜
I love reptiles! We once had iguanas 🦎🦎 ....gave them to bro-in-law when we had to move. Great pets!
That's awesome
And satisfying! Loving the sound of the old skin coming off.
I thought it was cool when I got a really bad sunburn as a teenager and I could just peel skin off but this is next level. 🤣
ah yes, also there are those foot treatments you can buy that peel all the skin on your foot off.
That must’ve felt great! Thanks, dude!
Any time! Thank You
This was so satisfying to watch!
Love the care and attention you pay to you little Beardy! So so cute.. looks so content just chilling.. as I know they need help especially the ear canal and their nose as they can't do it themselves most the time xx
It’s just harming and risking the reptile of infection
Can't help but think he's thinking "thank goodness for that!"
Hes soo cute. I love his little arms!
That stomach area was not ready to come off yet. When it’s soft and moist you don’t just rip it off. No wonder he was freaking out. Poor baby
The back wasn’t ready either. You can cause scab and bleeding and infections. When it’s crunchy and falling off then it’s ready. If it’s moist and soft, it’s not ready!
I said the same thing.. just hope this guy listens
Bearded dragon: Oh yes, that feels great
He looks so relieved:)
This looks satisfying. My dragon is just starting
I loved doing that when my green iguana was still alive, he always closed his eyes and just patiently waited.
awww
Look how YELLOW he is on his new skin! BEAUTIFUL 😍
Thank You
5:15 that has got to be the most chillaxed lizard I’ve ever seen in my life, dude has achieved maximum zen vibes
The ones from the belly and back… So f****** satisfying
This is my "ASMR". Something about watching lizards shedding/peeling skin is 🤌, especially when that ear-hole skin came out 😩. Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed!
Never thought I would say these words but it’s like you’re unwrapping your dragon ^^ especially loved the little sleeves!
Your dragon is a ⭐️
I love how it trusts you!
Thankyou for that! I love watching. And you were so gentle with him or her😊
Thank You
What a calm boy ❤
He did not want to be there 😂😅😅😂
I know you’re really busy but I have a question for you, not reptile related but using some of the equipment you’d be familiar with. I don’t have reptiles, but 2 hedgehogs. Each have an inkbird thermostat, flukers 10” dome, with flukers CHE bulb, I forgot if it’s 120 or 150 watt bulb. But the domes are always on and connected to thermostats with temp controls, strict parameters set to 72-80 degrees Fahrenheit, very crucial as hedgehogs can attempt hibernation and it can kill them. I have the dome plugged into the heat part of the thermostat which I have both just plugged into the wall. (Can’t use heating pads for the hedgies, they have to have the CHE bulbs, and possibly more depending on how large their hutches turn out and if they’re getting enough heat everywhere in the enclosure, but for now 1 CHE in a bin cage is working well)
They’ve worked great so far until recently when our lovely gas and electric company decided to do this 3 hour power outage which really jacked things up with the thermostats. Even though these are nocturnal creatures, they need artificial lights on during the day 12-14hrs per day, I’m building customized hutches for them currently, but as of right now, they’re just in bin cages side by side in the kitchen so we leave the kitchen light on from morning til night.
Since this power outage really screwed things up for me, I was just wondering about getting a couple things and other brands that would possibly do well for me, and was wondering if you think that you could give me some advice and brand names for a couple things I’ve been considering.
Also I was wondering what your favored thermostat with probe is? I see alot of Zoomed and Zilla ones but someone recommended the INKBIRD and until now, was working fine-except if the temp drops too low or goes too high… it will beep for minutes until the CHE corrects the temp of the entire cage which is so annoying and don’t know how disruptive it is to my hedgehogs who are nocturnal and usually sleeping when the thing starts beeping if the AC is on. If I’m home I can shut it off manually but it gets pretty loud when you get close to the cages which like I said, I’m not sure if it disturbs my sleeping hogs , and I tested it to see what if I’m not home, how long will it beep, well up to 10 min!! Until the thermostat probe is content with the cage temperature and I have the probe placed in the middle of the open air bin cage.
The hedgies, although asleep during the day in their hideouts, require artificial light 12-14 hrs a day. Up til now we’ve been using the kitchen light and I’m considering just ordering lights that aren’t intensely bright or emitting a lot of heat - just regular lights. Currently since they’re in the kitchen, we’ve just been leaving the kitchen light on all day. So since they’re partially under a cabinet, I was considering hanging some sort of artificial light, nothing brighter than a normal light bulb, possibly some strip lights which may be too bright under the cabinets.
Then I also was thinking about getting a temperature gun along with a surge protector to aim in different temps of areas of the cage but also to prevent this power outage problem from happening again.
Sorry for the length of the comment but since you work with reptiles that require some similar requirements. I wanted to get your take on it.
Basically:
-What brand thermostats with probes do you trust/use that have temp controls for CHE heating would you recommend? Do they beep like crazy when correcting temperatures?
If you use a surge protector in the event of a power outage, and which one do you recommend as there’s a lot out there?
-If I got a light system that only transmits artificial light during the day and can be set to a timer, which light would you recommend (currently they’re in bin enclosures under a cabinet so I was thinking led strip lights maybe or mounted high hanging reptile light under the cabinet but it just can’t be higher in temp than a regular light bulb like a desk lamp, I’d use one of those if I had the space for it but can’t fit it in the space.
And in the future, would a reptile dome stand with an artificial bulb be okay as an artificial light to go over their future wooden hutches which will be all wood, mesh top, ventilation on the sides, and plexiglass doors in the front? Would I be able to use a regular artificial lights, similar to a normal lamp? Not sure if I’m going to put the cages side by side on the ground or put them on top of a table yet.
-Also what timer would you recommend and do I need 2 of them? One for each hutch? Must keep the artificial lights on 12-14 hrs long.
-And lastly if you use a temp gun to verify animals core body temp, cage temp, bath water temp, which brand you’d recommend?
I’d love to hear some advice from someone with multiple enclosures, obviously all needing very specific lights and timers and similar things to what I’m looking for so I’d really appreciate stuff you’d recommend even though it’s not for a reptile at all.
Thank you so much!! Always love watching your videos. I’ve been through so many so far and learned so much! I know you’re extremely busy and have your hands full but this would be super valuable information for me going forward. Thanks!
I used a underbelly heater made for chicks with my hedgehog, never got above 100f and she loved it under her hide. She was in 2 big plastics bins connected by a tube. The room I kept her in was always around 72f

That is so satisfying! My Phelsuma always has some problems shedding, but she's way less cooperative!
You understand that is incredibly uncomfortable and even painful right. You can also damage the healthy skin underneath. Did you not see the intense black beard and the horrible stress marks on the Dragons belly area! You have him/her stressed to the max!
Hi, its fine if the skin has shed like it is here. Also if you follow my channel you know about grumpys black beard.
@@Animal1Guy you put your fingers under his belly and ripped off skin with your dirty finger gross 🤢
How is it possible that i JUST discover this kind of videos. The time i've lost...
I’m a new beardie owner and just this vid gave me some tips for when your beardie starts shedding
I have a juvenile bearded dragon named "Pumpkin" & I did this & it was satisfying. Pumpkin is mostly orange with dark grey spots on his back. Pumpkin's favorite food is mealworms; she gobbles them up like there's no tomorrow. Did you know that Bearded Dragons are native to Central Australia. I even have the peeled molted skin fragments in a small container; don't judge me! Okay?
😎Wouldn't it be cool if we humans actually did this.😎 This definitely is like those peeling blackhead nose masks, peeling dried glue off flat smooth surfaces, peel 2 reveal collectables, etc. I might need to get tiny tweezers for the ears, nostrils, eyelids, & claws.
Why is this so satisfying to watch?
Thank you for your videos, I find them all very interesting, especially the fact that reptiles can bond with affection. I didn't know that. If you have time, I'd love to know why they shed, and what triggers the process.
Their skin can only stretch so much. Once they grow their skin needs to be replaced with new skin
If I might add, it’s the same as our skin too! We constantly shed old cells for new ones. After the lizard is an adult and stops growing, they will continue to shed to replenish old scales as well!
I could watch these videos all day everyday
How often does this happen??
Lol why does the stomach part makes me think of the scene in Aliens? But without the bursting out, blood and gory.
