This car has by far been my number 1 for a few seasons, several setups , different motors
,bodies, tires , batteries.
As bad as it looks, I quickly repaired it and even made a few updates . It deserved a few new items that weren't even out when I built it

Having a fire extinguisher is a must in the rc hobby. I learned the hard way. Great speed run. 🔥
Lipo fires sure don't like being put out. They just keep reigniting until the energy is gone. Glad you had the extinguisher to mediate the flames until it ran out of steam! Wild it was still driving back while on fire!
I'm sure with your skills your build is pushing the limits with what's available and failures are inevitable with the strain your mind can put on these machines. Don't worry man you're still the GOAT!!

Awe man, I feel your pain bro, I have had a lipo fire, I have it on my channel. I smacked a pole at 127mph, luckily the lipo on fire flew out of the car. But like you mentioned, having a fire extinguisher saved the day. It's not a matter of "If" but "when" a fire happens. Never do a run without a fire extinguisher 🔥

I've never had one still operational while burning....this is a first for me. I guess that's one benefit of two seperate systems being on the car. When one is burning, the other is still working.
The other is only still working IF you run a receiver battery
Oh no! OMG 😳😢. Thank goodness minimal damages despite the crazy fire🔥. We joke around about bringing fire extinguisher 🧯 but now truly is necessary 😮. Good tips and information there my friend. Overall a clean awesome run. 218mph is insanely fast!

How positive you stayed through the whole thing was inspiring. Even took the time to check the speed, which was incredible. Stressing the importance of safety from all angles including fire, is appreciated James. Looking forward to all those future builds and top speed passes.

Nice to get it back…had it stopped at the end of the run…might not have been anything left…mess on the runway sucks. Burnt lipos are freaking messy. Time for some upgrades.

Good informative video man. It really sucks this happened to you but we all know it's part of it. I'm glad you had an extinguisher handy. Also I would recommend having a set of wire cutter or "side dikes" what we call them in central NC. Good to have a pair of cutters in your pocket to cut battery leads as opposed to grabbing a hold of some hot melting wires to rip from the esc. Just an idea. Thanks for the content!

Lipo fires are crazy. I had it happen about 6 weeks ago with a new motor and impellor setup on my RC EDF Jet. It was drawing too many amps. When I heard my radio's telemetry alarm go off my RC Jet burst into flames crashing onto my dry pasture on my ranch. It was quite far away so the grass caught fire. Luckily I had my water tank truck out from watering my Motocross track I was able to put the grass fire out which was already a 30-yard circle around the Jet. It was quite a Sunday morning. Glad y'all are ok with minimal damage. 218 mph is 68 mph faster than my RC jet. That's gnarly.
A bucket of sand or something would be ideal. Glad y'all were safe and glad you are encouraging safe practices.

Just be thankful it's an RC car and you don't have an EV yourself. Incredible speed though. Smokin'!!! Just leave it alone and let it burn out, it will reignite so has to exhaust all the energy.

Use Dawn dish soap for Lipo fires. I've only seen a few videos of it working, but quite a bit of word of mouth.

Get a water fire extinguisher it will put out the fire quicker.
Best part is you brought it back for a official speed run time. I will bring my fire extinguisher for now on 👍🏻

The extinguisher is not so much for the car as it is for the protection of the property around, control the battery fire and extinguish any fire on the property.

Redundancy in the receiver battery saved the car for sure. Going to start advocating that to other speed runners.
A regular Class ABC extinguishers won't put out a LiPo fire, but it'll prevent it from spreading to other stuff. To truly extinguish a LiPo fire, you'd need a class D; but they are EXPENSIVE and useless for anything other than metal fires. An ABC is better than nothing, as evident here!
ABC extinguisher is more for keeping others property safe, in this case car was saved but the property of others was unharmed and that is my main concern.
