I don’t think this girl is mentally ill. I think she’s a liar who was looking for attention. But even if Carlee is experiencing some form of mental illness she still needs to be held accountable for her actions. You could argue that a stalker, serial killer, ect are also experiencing mental illness, but we still hold them accountable. Ultimately Carlee wasn’t in psychosis and was fully capable of rational thought during this time. Other people lying about this kind of thing have gotten jail time and she should as well.

That's exactly how I feel. There are absolutely conditions that cause people to say be manic and do things they normally wouldn't. But there's also bad people or just very selfish people. A blanket mental illness road could apply to people who commit the worst crimes there are because something isn't right with someone who would do really terrible things (far worse than what Carlee did) but that doesn’t change the fact that they should be put away since being terrible isn't a conditions. Doing something most people wouldn't can just be because they're not a good person and not someone suffering from a condition. I'm seeing a lot of people saying Carlee needs help for her internet diagnosed mental illness not punishment and I'm just like... no sometimes people just do something bad. Sherri Pipini did something similar and faced criminal charges, as she should've and as Carlee should.

The police said they put ALL forces attention on finding her. Imagine how many others were hurt by police delays or lack of presence. What about the tens of thousands of public tax money spent looking for her? What about all of the other public agencies taking time away from real emergencies to help the police? What about the the people who donated money and the parents of TRULY missing kids, who donated their time? This woman is potential dangerous and needs serious help. Her parents need to make sure she gets the helps she needs. I say this because to plan this in advance, think you could outsmart skilled detectives, how this would hurt her parents, tarnish her and her family's name. It never occurred to her subconscious mind that this was too far.

@@ir9567 I've heard the rumors about the other stuff. Sorry, but not everyone needs to be a parent if you can't do the job. They're responsible for making sure she's not a danger to herself or others, and for holding her responsible for her actions, getting her the help she needs.

I think she needs to face some consequences for her actions - I get the feeling she has been very spoiled and indulged all of her life and so far hasn't faced any consequences for anything. Not good.

Ms. Russell had many looking for her and a toddler who may have been in danger as well. I'm sure that law enforcement took time away from other cases and their families to aid in the search. If she did this for attention, then she may need psychological help.
