Maybe, maybe not. He was out of power pulling the hills. A year ago I had the experience of running a turned up 7140 Magnum and a Deere 8420 in front of the same implement. The Deere ran right away from the Magnum. More HP, and a deeper torque curve. I didn’t like the Deere 16 speed power shift though. Too big a gear ratio jump from 15-16 compared to the 17-18 jump in the Magnum.

The 8420 is not in the same class as the 7140.

8420 would be similar to a MX255 and I know for a fact a CAPS power 8.3 walks away from a Deere 8.1.
