Great video Joey! I absolutely love to see people take old equipment like this and restore it to working condition. Spend a little money and give it some tender loving care and you have a piece of equipment that can out last you and anything made today.
Hey Mark
I’m looking forward to seeing it plant again.
@@Jtwes Me too. I hit my own milestone today. 60 years old.
Happy Birthday Day !!!🎂🎂
@@Jtwes Thank you sir!
@@Jtwes Thank you sir!
Good to have another source for planter parts. Thanks for sharing buddy. They have ran fiber about a mile from my house, don't look like they gonna come down our road
Don’t count them out yet. There’s a ton of money out there and just going by looks I thought they were going to skip my road but out of nowhere they started hanging.
@Jtwes only 3 houses on my road I talked to the guy measuring for it. After I tried hugging him he told me not to get my hopes up.
There’s a loop rd off mine with 2 houses and there getting it. Spectrum guy said if they bid and win a area there bound to catch all the existing houses.
Spring fever is coming on!
I’m ready for it for sure but I bet we’ll have one more cold spell first.
Hello Joey. I always enjoy your videos. Like many others the 140 “hooked” me. I feel you have taught me a lot and I will continue to learn, God willing. The boys do a fine job, as do you with your straight forward thoughts and actions. I agree with others about the appeal of a rural lifestyle and being somewhat self sufficient. Thank you for your thoughtfulness, much appreciated. Stan PS. Just because I’m snarky at the moment, it’s 85 and will be 87-88 by 3 PM. Come on down!
Hey Stan
It’s coming this way. Supposed to be 80 this week.
As rare as old farm equipment is nowadays. It great that you got it.
You definitely don’t run across them anymore.
I can see you growing far beyond 6k subscribers Joey. Because I believe tons of folks love the old tractors as I do and maybe especially the simpler rural family lifestyle like you guys have that's mostly missing in today's modern society. So thanks for sharing it and see yall on the next one. God bless.
Thank You. We definitely have our share of life’s challenges but God sees us through.
Nice planter Joey. I know you have had to do a lot work on it but I need to see if I can find one. I have the 295 unit we adapted for my 140 that you have seen. Awesome news on 6000 subscribers and neat that high speed internet is coming your way. I have it at the house now and it's nice. Sounds good on your new equipment and your new ideas for growing the channel. I'm so glad we got to know each other over your channel. Take care.
Thanks Bart. Me too. If I remember right that setup you had was pretty nice. I bet it would do everything these 184 planters would do.
Congratulations on the new planter , enjoy & have fun !! Very good video , thank you !! Up date on plow days ????
Hey Robert
Thank You . Looking to do it mid October again.
You will do very well. I personally enjoy listening to Godly men who stand for their faith on the mission field (beyond the doors of our churches). I have access (Daddys tractors) to both a International Harvester 140 as well as a 1950 model Cub. I'm an avid gardener and enjoy your content.
Thanks Harvey
I was thinking about planting some potatoes next week.
That's a nice looking planter and is in great shape for it's age. Investing a bit of money in something that can last another 100 years if taken care of is the way to go, preserving our past while still putting equipment to work is a noble thing in my books. You're a good fella and have earned all the subscribers you have and l have no doubt you'll continue to grow the number as time goes on, you and your family do good work simple as that.
Thank You sir
I’ve always enjoyed your thoughtfulness and wisdom in your comments.
Love your videos. Deep South Homestead mentioned you in their live feed last night.
Hey Todd
Thank You. I was able to watch a little but I missed it.
First Thanks for the plows. I had to laugh when you mentioned Brandon. He has walked me through so many things on my cub. I've spent a ton of money with them. Love the new planter.
Your quite welcome my friend.
I bought a farmall super A back in the fall. It had been setting for a long time. I hope to have it ready in the spring. Your videos give me inspiration to keep working on it. It will be great to have in the garden. It was set up for cultivation.
Hey Sean
Hang in there keep on tinkering with it. You may not get it perfect right off but just keep working with it.
You do a good job explaining.
Thanks John. I would love to be as good as Pete on his channel but I just don’t have the knowledge he has.
I enjoy watching your videos
Thank You David
Congratulations on your subscriber count. Good find on the planter!
Thanks Jamie
I appreciate you always being here.
That was an awesome gift. Thanks for the website. I can help you out.
Hey Alvis
We get it running good this year we might have to do that this fall.
@@Jtwes just let me know
Congrats on the subscribers! Like the back story also. Always interesting to hear stuff like that. Definitely a rare piece. All you see in my area are the Cole planters.
Hey Johnny
I hope to get the new base in soon.
Hi Joey , thanks for doing what you do very enjoyable. I found your channel just by looking for something on CZcams. By watching and listening to you i you where N.C. I’m just up the road in Granville county. I wish you would do a video on fishing with a cane pole and crickets at your pond. Just something a little different. Keep up the good work. Thanks for sharing. Have a good day.
Hey Tommy
That’s sounds like a good ideal. I have a belt that has hidden fishing gear maybe we’ll use that.
Congrats on the subs Joey. I'm proud to be one of em buddy. And that is a nice planter. Looking forward to seeing it in action. Take care👍
Thanks Kevin
Always look forward to seeing your comments.
My Dad retired from International Harvester in Memphis, TN and my brother worked till they closed.
My husband worked at John Deere dealer 50 years.
Hey Janet
Thanks for watching. I thought about getting a job at a John Deere Dealership when I graduated from Automotive Mechanics back in 1992.
@@Jtwes it was no money in it for my husband but he loved what the work and that's what counted.
Always love the "back story". A suggestion on the plate that is worn. Clean all the paint off of the worn area, then run a bead of JB WELD in the worn area. Put a sheet of wax paper over the top and close the cover on it. It will probably mold into the correct shape, no sanding or shaping needed. Worth try at least.
I agree. I thought about that. I figured at the very least it could be what I used to call “back up to all back ups” planter units.
I need to quit playing around and get me a planter already. My finger could use a rest 😂
They do help for sure. I’m jealous of that garlic.
Remove the paint and fill the pitted area with JB Weld to build up the low spots. Did it on a fertilizer distributor base plate and it is working great now. They sell the JB Weld in a big tube kit at a decent price.
I had that on my mind and that may happen one day. For now I’ll keep it for emergency backup. I went ahead and ordered the base and lid cover from Mike.
👍 I found your channel because of the 140. I bought a Super A and have to rebuild it from front to back. The crankshaft is in the machine shop, don’t know if I can do much gardening with it this year but, someday.🤷🏻♂️
Hey Tony
Thank you for subscribing and welcome. Congratulations on the super A . I’ve learned the hard way when I came to the realization that a broke Tractor is better than no Tractor because there’s potential for the broke one.
@@Jtwes That’s right👌
Proud of my little brother! ❤
We are getting better internet connection in my area this year too!! Please consider doing a video on what you use to help boost your internet for the shop, please!! I would like to be able to do something similar at my barn
I will , even if I don’t need it I’ll talk about what you can do.
I'm also interested in being able to get some internet at my barn. Cell signal is pretty weak in my area, and barn is about 125 ft from house, so out of regular wifi range from house.
There’s a pretty good back story on my IH 251 too. Burch Store has one with a single point, mine has a 3-point. My brother’s was a 2-point. Those one-row FH planters, as I’m sure you know, are worth a ton. Great video 👍
Thank You. Looking forward to seeing your 140 using the new fertilizer setup.
@@Jtwes I’ll try to video my mistakes the first time I take it out. It took me a few minutes to realized the chain idler from the final drive needed to be rotated up and forward tight against the bolt holding it on. The chain was a bit sloppy at first and wrapped upon itself and broke the first time I put it in reverse🤦🏼♂️. I think I’ve got it now thanks to Mark👍 you’ve got a lot of great stuff on your channel, they’re a pleasure to watch.
Mr. Joey. International made a shim that went under the seed plate that stopped grinding up the seed. I would not get rid of that lid and bottom. The problem was worse with poly plates than with steel plates. May be worth checking on. God bless you and yours
Thank You. I hung the old ones on the wall for emergency backup. You never know.
I enjoy your channel very much! I also have a 140 but my planter mounts on the tractor beside the fertilizer hopper. I don’t have a pull behind even though mine has a quick hitch but I do have several seed plates ( my hopper is a Richmond & the packing wheel , that goes under the belly is a Runner)…. maybe you could do a video on the seat plates how many do you have and do you have the chart I can send you picture of a chart if you don’t thanks again Joey God bless you and your family!
Hey Danny
Thanks for watching. I do have a parts book on the IH seed plates. I don’t on the plastic ones. I think 90% of mine are corn. I probably shouldn’t admit this but a lot of times when I plant something other than corn I just match up a corn plate and do a controlled pour. Lol I think I might try to get some proper bean, pea Etc plates. Yes do email what you have.
Plz send ur email
A new Cole Planter runs about 1800 dollars. That is out of my price range. I would love to refurbish an an old one. I am going to have to convert a push planter to 3 point hitch.
I know what you mean. They are getting out of site. Thanks for watching.
It's always amazes me how being in the right place and time one can gather some good things! Here in Central Minnesota we are getting a wee bit closer to having our internet upgraded for faster connection and operation!
You hear of all the Programs and never see any thing from them. This internet RDOF is on of the first construction programs I can see some progress. Not just around me but all over our state.
I couldn't think of the word used to describe the upgrade and I finally did! Broadband!
👍
Glad you were able to rescue the planter and restore it. I'm trying to get Daddy's ancient pull disc loaded on a trailer tomorrow with hope it can be put in working condition, not a yard ornament.
Do you use a propane/butane torch for heat to break the rust, or acetylene?
Hey Lamont
It’s one I picked up at tractor supply it has the yellow can and a pull start trigger.
I want a planter like that so bad I can't hardly stand it. Haven't been able to locate one in my area and price range. For that one, I'd be tempted to run a couple of weld beads (JB Weld might even work) then file/grind it down to fit. Keep it as a just in case backup.
I hung it on the wall yesterday. If I ever had to use it I believe I could cut cardboard and take up that gap.
Hay you might want to give Brandon a call he has a pretty cool fast hitch spread he put on his website
Hey Dylan
Good to hear from you. I’ll check that out.
I see a three point quick hitch in the back of that shed. Do/did you have a more modern three point hitch, or were you useing some conversation on the IH one point hitch?
I use it every now and then when I pull something with three point. I designed and made that.

I watch Bus Grease Monkey here on CZcams and he has 100+k subscribers and he still uses his iphone to film and edit all his videos .
I still love my camera on the iPhone but I struggle with my shaking hand’s trying to edit on it.
Wish I knew how to edit on Android. I have found an app to splice clips but that's about it. And it then ends up with a watermark. Is the iphone stuff internal editing software?
Yes , I use I movie right now and I believe the program that’s coming with the IMac is like a better version of that .
Congratulations on the planter and subs!!!
Keep up the good work!
Hey Brother Pat
Thank You. Still liking that dual wheel A. Hope you guys are doing well.
Hey Joey what are you going to do with the old planter??
Probably use it when I plant stuff flat and freshly cut.
Do you fertilize the corn as you are planting it?
Hey Wade
I try to most of the time.
I still have days when I’m like, “500 people took time to watch my video??? Holy smokes!”
