Great video Joey! I appreciate how you view the Jimmy Red as a victory because of the Avipel working even though the deer ate it up. I liked seeing Elliot and his boat. I always heard the 2 happiest days of a man's life are the day he buys a boat and the day he sells it! Lol God Bless!
He’s getting on the verge of spending to much.
Thank you for your videos
I'm no farmer but those potatoes look great to me. I'm sure you know, when there's one groundhog there's more than one.
It is . My dad seen 2
Watched Wills video on installing the pistol grip shifter. He really did great job editing video. Really enjoyed. Dave from West Virginia.
Thanks Dave
Good looking tators. Keep after that groundhog. Sorry to see your throwing in the towel on the Jimmy Red.
Well maybe not yet ??? stay tuned.
You have been lucky! I deal with ground hogs all the time.
I have been. We’ll get it figured out.
Keep that tractor action going Joey luved it! God bless.
I never had ground hog problems either until recently. I had a whole family of them living under my barn. It took me over 4 weeks to dispose of them.
Poor little ole ground hog 😂
Love this video ❤
Great video. Grow potatoes every year and you think you've got them all up only to find out the next that you didn't. Weather looks good with you. Has rained nearly every day here in June. All the best 🇬🇧.
I need some of your rain Jpeel
Rick at Southern Tire is a fine man. That's where I do most of my business!
Great video keep up the great job
Maybe you could do a catch and cook With the groundhog
Brother you are a blessing. I love seeing everything. Those groundhogs are aggravating. We’ve used apples to bait them too. They love staying under buildings. Look around your out buildings. You may see where they’re digging. Look forward to seeing you again
Thank You Brother. Oh I just didn’t say I know exactly were he lives. Lol
I zlove that Farmall sounds great don’t be so hard on Sammy😅😅😅😅
We stored our potatoes under our house all my early days on the farm, my Grand parents did it in the 1920s. That polished plow share is traditionally a sign of a good farmer, never let another farmer see your rusty plow. Man I don’t know what Groundhog taste like, they are not prevalent down here in SW Louisiana, I bet they good in a stew or a jambalaya. That’s a nice boat. Definitely check it out before you drive 30 minutes, only to find out boat motor won’t run.
I wished I could take credit for the polished share but it was from digging potatoes.
Joe, my papaw and dad always used lime on the taters when they stored them. Might even help with rodents too I'm not sure. A man can always go back and find the hidden taters LOL I enjoy your videos! Take care
Thank You 2 Fish
Joe I hate to see you give up on that corn, it is a beautiful stand of corn and you are more than halfway there! In my experience the deer will lose interest, and it will recover. The deer will be back to eat the silk but in the end that doesnt usually affect the harvest. The silk is only important for a very short time immediately after tasseling when the pollen is dropping down onto the silk.
After that they can eat as much as they want!
Be sure to catch my next video this is the comment I will be referring to. Thank You. God Bless You.
I enjoyed another good video. Happy Fathers day! All the best from Greensboro NC.
Thanks Gurney
I understand completely. Only had a small patch of sweet corn, and the rabbits ate all but 1 stalk before 12" tall. The armadillos tore up my okra patch. Now the squirrels are eating my small pears. Don't want to scare you, but the raccoons will be there for the watermelons at harvest time, too, if it's like it is here.
As crazy as it sounds that wouldn’t bother me that bad. You may not have seen in older videos but i have a soft spot for them.
We put lime on our potatoes when we put them up. Pulls the moisture away from the potatoes
We’ll see how they act. But it’s nice to know that it was done before.
I think the potatoes will be fine under the house. Do you usually pull the plant up before you plow the potatoes?
I'm up on the zone 6/5 boarder and last fall I left sweet potatoes, planted my rye grain, and the sweet potatoes survived the northern frost! They are happily running up the rye stalks in a vertical farm. I'm working around them to see what they do through the season with neglect but it's kind of interesting to see them survive and now thrive. I had planted several different varieties and these may be some of those Japanese purple ones or could be more standard orange types. Two years ago I had gotten all the types I could find at several supermarkets to do a land race.
That’s interesting.
Groundhogs are my biggest problem in Arkansas, my best defenses far has been an electric wire about 2-3 inches off of the ground, if you’ve got one it won’t be long until you have plenty more ! Good luck, love the channel
Thanks Randy I have some poultry fence coming.
Sounds like you are like me Brother not enough time in the day. But God knows our hearts for sure
Amen
Love Corbett Ridge grocery. Local goods and the best hotdogs. Been going there all my life.
Yes sir got about all you need.
Awesome video!!
Next year plant a very large food plot for the deer . Mix some field corn in the mix . That just might keep the deer away from the jimmy red . I had to finch a spot me hind the chicken house because of the deer . It only takes two deer .
Maybe they just need some Carmel covered Avipel corn seed to eat. Lol
Ventilate Mr Groundhog. He’s not going anywhere as long as he’s got plenty to eat. I love the wild life around me, but when they are eating my vegetables they have to go. I keep two fields planted in clover, wheat, peas and corn for them. They gotta stay out of the gardens or else.
Should just leave the butternut squash. And pick those. They keep for a long time
I was afraid I would end up with butter nut watermelon.
@@Jtwes I have grown them pretty close. I believe one row over maybe? No problem. Think of all those square foot raised bed garden city people they plant everything really close. Also that bee that's in a garden is hitting all the plants and has the pollen on it. You would of been fine.
You may want to put some sawdust over your potatoes
It looks like Leno needs a 10/22.
Mr groundhog probably will make a den hole around your barns and sheds like my groundhogs
He did I know were he’s at.
I tried putting potatoes under shelter. Camel crickets were like your ground hog but in numbers.
Oh man.
May I add..... my favorite part of this video was the end look at God's beautiful creations
Yes sir I love that stretch of dirt road.
A ground hog can just ruin a garden in no time at all. I use a trap also the only problem with using a trap is you stand the chance of catching a skunk. That could get you in a stinky situation lol
I’ll lasso the trap and drag it off. Lol
@@Jtwes or you could tell Sammy to go let that cat out that you caught by accident. In time Sammy would forgive you haha j/k
I’d get rid of the groundhogs ASAP. My neighbor’s are completely out of control. They’re under pretty much every barn he’s got and have caused one to partially collapse now.
Ouch. That would probably be my final straw.
@@Jtwes he’s told me to take out any I see any way possible. I told him “I’ve seen the movie caddyshack”
He should learn to choose his words better lol
Woodchucks and rabbits run on alternating cycles. You can live trap woodchucks but most effective is locate their bunker, run a hose from the exhaust of a poorly running vehicle down the hole. Find the exit escape hatch and cover it up. Run the bunker full and cover the entrance. Recheck for dig outs a day later but you won't. We used to grow and retail pumpkins; woodchucks had a habit of taking two or three bites out of dozens of pumpkins so we couldn't sell them.
Little over 6 feet? I thought you were around 6-4 at least.
lol your real close I just never get that specific I just say 6 ft
Loved the video Joey, come on to South Boston and I'll get Carl Smith to get you 2 bag of Nitrogen.
Raccoons will be your problem in the watermelon patch. They love them when they are ripe.
What ever happened to your pet raccoon?
She got to good for us I guess. Lol Miss her though.
