Troubleshooting my air conditioning at the moment it was ice cold, one day and the next day the compressor didn’t turn on, Fuses and relay are good, it’s too stupid smokey and hot to do much at one time. I guess I’ll ck for power at the clutch wire next And look for rubber shrapnel from the clutch, it’s 6 AM and not hot out yet. Great vid and that seems to be one of the easiest compressor swaps ever.

👍 Excellent step-by-step video for compressor replacement . But the compressor burned out in the first place because it ran low on refrigerant charge so the superheat was high and cooling back to the compressor was no more in the mass flow of refrigerant due to being low was not capable of carrying the oil back to the compressor that the vapor refrigerant carried out of the compressor.
Causing the compressor to seize up the clutch stay still the pulley keeps trying to spin burning up the pulley and clutch assembly.
The total charge oil quantity on that diesel was .53 ounces rounded off two 3 1/2 ounces .
But the compressor successfully ejected it’s oil out of the system and got logged back in the evaporator where it got stuck from being ran low on refrigerant that caused the burn out in the first place and the person who mentored you told you to stick and a half can of oil but the system nearly has its entire charge of oil stuck up inside the evaporator and a half can is 4 ounces and that is already double the oil charge so now the system has a double oil charge ?.
Still works gets cold to the hand but refrigerant oil does not conduct heat and lowers efficiency of the refrigerant cooling system.
And instead of a compressor that last 150,000 or 250,000 miles the compressor itself will last with a double oil charge but oil doesn’t compress very well back in the cylinders when it’s overcharged it raises the compression ratio that pushes against the front shaft seal of the compressors and this is where you usually see the front shaft seal failing after a year or 20 or 30,000 miles instead of a compressor lasting 10 years or 200,000 miles or more.
I know you’re on Shop time so you don’t have to time to do compressor tear downs on some of these burn outs. I think the do it yourself people watching your videos would be interested to see what happens inside the compressor and the reason why compressors burn up.
Compressors do not die they are murdered. If they always have cooling and they always have lubricant they will let usually last the life of the vehicle 350,000 or 450,000 miles Unless some external force fails and causes a chain reaction that causes the compressor to fail a compressor failing is a symptom of a problem

I have a uac compressor on its way, I intend to dump out its shipping oil and refill with pag 46. Going to run a vacuum for a decent amount of time afterwards.

Also that compressor isn't coming out if your wheels are on the ground unless you jack the frame up - there's definitely not "plenty of room" lol. Unbolting that stabilizer is definitely the most convenient way
