Awesome job Aaron. Make it look easy as usual!!!! 👍🏼
As a beginner ford tech I love the video, and I also loved the stale cracker reference 😂
Welcome to the pool buddy 🙋♂️🙋♂️ holler if ya need somethin. We'll see ya Wednesday night where it gon be nuthin but moneeee doooooood
Great video man! Thanks so much for the info.
Wow u always make it look so easy thanks for sharing ARod nice work
Good and nice work you doing Aaron like how easy you do it.
That is a beautiful truck. The deep red really sets it off.
Awesome video!
I replaced mine in January of 2019 in upstate New York when it seized up and destroyed my serpentine belt. That's how I discovered your channel. Fun times in that kind of cold haha
Oooooooof well at least ya fixed it
Had to replace a line close to the compressor, Watched this video to get an idea on how to get to it.. thanks!
Thanks . You make it look easy
Great job
Nice work
Troubleshooting my air conditioning at the moment it was ice cold, one day and the next day the compressor didn’t turn on, Fuses and relay are good, it’s too stupid smokey and hot to do much at one time. I guess I’ll ck for power at the clutch wire next And look for rubber shrapnel from the clutch, it’s 6 AM and not hot out yet. Great vid and that seems to be one of the easiest compressor swaps ever.
Hey Aaron, toasted my compressor on my '12 6.7. Should I change anything else out like the dryer filter or expansion valve at all?
Would love to see a glow plug replacement video! 17+ specifically….#4 if possible 😂
Its out, goto my playlists...blue DRW thimbnail
One handed install....make'n it look easy!
whats the most miles you seen from an ac compressor? I know they last longer up north than the south.
A lot of rust on that truck. Must be from up North. Thanks for you vids
Thats wheres i am
if you dont have an ac charger can i take it to a mechanic to do it after installing everything?
just takes patience. too many ppl get frustrated and give up.
👍 Excellent step-by-step video for compressor replacement . But the compressor burned out in the first place because it ran low on refrigerant charge so the superheat was high and cooling back to the compressor was no more in the mass flow of refrigerant due to being low was not capable of carrying the oil back to the compressor that the vapor refrigerant carried out of the compressor.
Causing the compressor to seize up the clutch stay still the pulley keeps trying to spin burning up the pulley and clutch assembly.
The total charge oil quantity on that diesel was .53 ounces rounded off two 3 1/2 ounces .
But the compressor successfully ejected it’s oil out of the system and got logged back in the evaporator where it got stuck from being ran low on refrigerant that caused the burn out in the first place and the person who mentored you told you to stick and a half can of oil but the system nearly has its entire charge of oil stuck up inside the evaporator and a half can is 4 ounces and that is already double the oil charge so now the system has a double oil charge ?.
Still works gets cold to the hand but refrigerant oil does not conduct heat and lowers efficiency of the refrigerant cooling system.
And instead of a compressor that last 150,000 or 250,000 miles the compressor itself will last with a double oil charge but oil doesn’t compress very well back in the cylinders when it’s overcharged it raises the compression ratio that pushes against the front shaft seal of the compressors and this is where you usually see the front shaft seal failing after a year or 20 or 30,000 miles instead of a compressor lasting 10 years or 200,000 miles or more.
I know you’re on Shop time so you don’t have to time to do compressor tear downs on some of these burn outs. I think the do it yourself people watching your videos would be interested to see what happens inside the compressor and the reason why compressors burn up.
Compressors do not die they are murdered. If they always have cooling and they always have lubricant they will let usually last the life of the vehicle 350,000 or 450,000 miles Unless some external force fails and causes a chain reaction that causes the compressor to fail a compressor failing is a symptom of a problem
Well said
My compressor got murdered. Do you work on these trucks specifically or are you just making general a/c comments - like are you saying I should change the evaporator too or get any stuck oil out of it if I'm changing my compressor?
@@drewnicest4319 if it’s Black Death. Just replace everything
@@coldfinger459sub0Thank you so much for the reply. I'm going to change the condenser (with the dryer), the expansion valve, and compressor. Leaving the evaporator. I have a uac compressor on its way, I intend to dump out its shipping oil and refill with pag 46. Going to run a vacuum for a decent amount of time afterwards.
My current dilemma is how much pag 46 to put in the compressor considering the above?
@drewnicest4319 always a half can to the comp
Just full of gravyyyyyyyy 🚂🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃
Hey, Cody is that country fried steak or roast beef poboy style gravy??😁
Whats the most miles you seen out of a FL compressor?
@@D4x4Bronc honestly I've only changed a few. I've replaced more evaporators cores than anything.
@@codyphillips48 I guess it's similar to blower motors how often they are used till they mechanically wear out. I always have to replace an ac compressor from 200k-300k miles. But my stuff is old and often bought without working ac so I dont know when the compressor failed due to leaks.
I drained coolant. Took 15 min and took that line off. Easy peasy.
What about the pressure?
Do you have to flush the system? Or replace any thing else? Mine failed but still had a charge shop recovered the Freon, when they pull a vacuum will all old oil and contaminate be sucked out?
Naw u shld be ok if the bearing jyst blew apart
Hey brother. I know I'm a man of many questions. So add additional 3.5 oz of pag46 on top of the prefilled oil in the compressor? I'm a little behind on my job from a couple weeks ago had some stiiches on my index finger that prevented me from starting.
Yes
A HUGE thank you! The job is done. I could not have done it without your video.
@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod my compressor has no pressure on the high side. I was told. That I should replace pretty much all the components in the AC system due to possible contamination. Do you suggest the same. Thanks
...well you either have a contaminated system or not. Might be time for some light tear down
3 bolts, stop. Easy job. How many o-rings are on the AC compressor fittings? Shouldn't those o-rings be replaced with the compressor?
They on the lines, no u can re use em
2014 F450 202k miles still blowing cold
👍
Does warranty require condenser and evaporator be replaced when compressor is replaced?
Absolutely not.
What would cause this. The melted clutch like that. Mine just did it.
I watch a lot of vids where they cant get a camera
in to record. Doesn't someone make an inspection
camera that you can use & offload the clip from
the tool to edit into your vid?
!
Yes
Where did you get that blanket from? I have seen several others use.
What blanket
@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod I get a glimpse of it right @3:27
@Oneupservice I'm like huh....OHHHHHH it's just a stupid fender cover. The uniform people bring them & rags
@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod oh! It looked softer than a typical fender cover but fair enough. Thank you!
Dude you NEED to get yourself a top side creeper
Eff them things. I have one.....NEVER use it. Was a wate of money. Doesnt get me low enough to the engine. Taking a turbo off useless. Puts me at the cowl, i need to be under the cowl.....
I don't know why, but my dang lines won't plug back in. 😒
Super Duty Compressor replacement. Suckin since 2003.
Hahahaha just those
Nope not yet . She's been a good gal for me.
No sealer gaskets on the AC lines at the compressor?
Theyre on the lines
@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARodyou don't usually replace them when you do a new compressor?
Nevermind you answered in another comment.
Nope
@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod I toasted my compressor pretty bad, learned a lot about the AC system overnight. Do you think I should change out the dryer in the evap core or possibly the whole evap core? Going to at least run a vacuum on the system overnight
My a/c stopped working, I was trying to add freon and it turns out it has a bunch in it. Has it happened to anybody else?
Bummer
FO MO CO baby
Do 17 and up compressors have a pressure release?
Not that i knw of
Remove the hoses AFTER you remove the mounting bolts, that's why they're flexible hoses! This will save an hour of your life. And there's plenty of room without removing the steering stabilizer. Or just find a better video:)
What ever u say rosenburggg
Hey Rosenberg, that's a nice suggestion but I wouldn't want my hoses holding up my compressor risking damage to the hoses. Also that compressor isn't coming out if your wheels are on the ground unless you jack the frame up - there's definitely not "plenty of room" lol. Unbolting that stabilizer is definitely the most convenient way
