Fiona Bruce follows Falklands War hero Simon Weston over three months, as he becomes the first person chosen by the public to be painted for the National Portrait Gallery.
Weston is painted by Nicky Philipps, best known for her portrait of the royal princes. As the painting takes shape, Weston's moving life story is revealed, from his battle for survival and struggle with depression to his becoming an inspirational role model and national treasure.
Weston chooses not to view the work in progress, instead waiting for the big unveiling. But will be like how he is portrayed for posterity?

I was touched in a very special way by this series which was so well done and so very delightful yet I'm a bit saddened that it's over. By the way, I am an anti-war American. I am also an artist. This gentleman has earned my deep respect.

The cringe when the host mentioned margaret thatcher. Pointing that out at a moment like it was is so divisive and uncomfortable
