So now you guys need to review two things from this interview. The "Dafli Wale" song, featuring Rishi Kapoor and Jaya Prada. And the short story "Lust Stories," which Karan referenced when he spoke about the vibrator scene. That story features Kiara Advani and Vicky Kaushal.
I think Karan is saying too late to start his personal life purely because he's got a commitment to his kids. It's hard to start a brand new relationship when you're a parent. Rick, you can't compare him to yourself because your kids are adults. That's my thinking.

cannot wait for you two to watch bombay talkies. i haven't seen the full movie yet but i have seen the short film karan directed that he was talking about and it was So much better than i had expected - you'll love rani in it and i especially adored saqib saleem in it as well, who also played a pivotal role in 83 (love him so much). i finished the film desperately wishing we got more of karan like we did in this film, it was wonderfully shot and the storyline was also amazing and wonderfully executed.

The thing is we have always been taught since ancient times that first 25 years of life is for schooling, then 25 years of adult hood is for marriage and kids, family, then 25 for years of forest life and then rest of the life is gor old age. I have forgotten but i think it is Gurukulashram, Ghrihastashram, Banaprasthashram and briddhashram. (Please, correct me if I am wrong) That's why we take decisions in life at a certain age. I kind of like Karan Johar as a person and how unapologetically himself he is in a country where is not the easiest thing to be. And he's a cinephile too. Neither do I have a problem with him promoting star kids. His production, his money, his choice. But man I do not look forward to him directing movies. He is one of the most uncreative people in Bollywood, whose movies are beyond terrible and wholly bereft of any artistic merit. They're mostly commercial projects designed to sell fashion merchandise. The problem is the kind of influence and name he holds in the industry, and his drivel makes money for him, but it comes at the cost of respect for Indian cinema worldwide. People see his movies and then money he makes and think his movies are a true representation of Indian cinema.. which is a shame. Nothing against him as a person.

Also if you're being honest, then you can't deny that bollywood has made some very good movies and also have made attempt to talk about various social issues through films this year(2022). The only one department they've failed, is in providing the mass entertainment to the audience. There have been many crappy movies released from the south this year, but those haven't been criticised that much, they have even went on to become box office success. In the latest chinranjeevi movie, they literally glorified naxalites and showed the indian army in bad light, but no one talked about that. If it were bollywood, then god knows what would've happened. But I also believe that bollywood needs to change some major things in their approach towards making movies, and as KJ said, they need to empower good writers and stop being dependent on remakes, whether they're songs or stories.

I kind of like Karan Johar as a person and how unapologetically himself he is in a country where is not the easiest thing to be. And he's a cinephile too. Neither do I have a problem with him promoting star kids. His production, his money, his choice. But man I do not look forward to him directing movies. He is one of the most uncreative people in Bollywood, whose movies are beyond terrible and wholly bereft of any artistic merit. They're mostly commercial projects designed to sell fashion merchandise. The problem is the kind of influence and name he holds in the industry, and his drivel makes money for him, but it comes at the cost of respect for Indian cinema worldwide. People see his movies and then money he makes and think his movies are a true representation of Indian cinema.. which is a shame. Nothing against him as a person.

Films like kgf are so fcking dumb similar to karan johar films. He is absolutely right. Bollywood has made these films over and over again. And is brutally criticised and rightfully so. I do criticise them. But I don't know how stupid dumb movies like bahu Ali kgf and rrr are so celebrated. BAHUBALI IS THE WORST MOVIE I HAVE EVER SEEN. Also if you're being honest, then you can't deny that bollywood has made some very good movies and also have made attempt to talk about various social issues through films this year(2022). The only one department they've failed, is in providing the mass entertainment to the audience. There have been many crappy movies released from the south this year, but those haven't been criticised that much, they have even went on to become box office success. In the latest chinranjeevi movie, they literally glorified naxalites and showed the indian army in bad light, but no one talked about that. If it were bollywood, then god knows what would've happened.
But I also believe that bollywood needs to change some major things in their approach towards making movies, and as KJ said, they need to empower good writers and stop being dependent on remakes, whether they're songs or stories.
