From Wikipedia:
Georgia State Route 400 (SR 400; commonly known as Georgia 400) is a freeway and state highway in the U.S. state of Georgia serving parts of Metro Atlanta. It is concurrent with U.S. Route 19 (US 19) from exit 4 (Interstate 285) until its northern terminus south-southeast of Dahlonega, linking the city of Atlanta to its north-central suburbs and exurbs. SR 400 travels from the Lindbergh neighborhood in the Buckhead district of Atlanta, at Interstate 85 (I-85), to just south-southeast of Dahlonega. Like the Interstate highways, it is a limited-access road (with interchanges instead of intersections), but unlike the interstates (which were renumbered by GDOT in 2000), the exit numbers are not mileage-based, they are sequential. Once SR 400 passes exit 17 (SR 306), it changes from a limited-access freeway into an at-grade divided highway with traffic lights, but still with a high speed limit of 65 miles per hour (105 km/h), and ends at the J.B. Jones Intersection at SR 60/SR 115 in Lumpkin County.
Between I-85 and I-285, SR 400 is designated "T. Harvey Mathis Parkway", after a local land developer and road proponent who died the day after being appointed as head of the Atlanta Committee for the Olympic Games in June 1991, when the tollway was under construction. Upon reaching the Perimeter (I-285) and beyond, the highway is designated "Turner McDonald Parkway".
Unlike most other Georgia state routes in the 400-499 series, SR 400 is the only such highway not to be designated as an unsigned route following a major expressway in the state.

How can anybody be angry living in a place this beautiful and green?
I Have an 80inch screen in my Garage i pull my vehicle in and watch these it feel like i'm on the freeway.....i love this guy Keep it up Big Mike!!!!!!!!
Awesome! Definitely have more and more coming.
Wow...I used to travel 400 and many of the roads crossing it about 20 years ago.Amazing to see how so much has changed in not so many years.I lived in Sugar Hill for a few and it caught my attention that they now have an exit sign on 400 at Cumming...That little town has doubled in size at the least since I left.New town hall, amphitheater...Just wow!
That view from 31:06 is probably one of my favorites on any interstate I’ve ever driven on
Awesome drive along GA 400.
You might want to point out that when you go through the tunnel under the Atlanta Financial Center ( at 27:12 I believe?) that that tunnel was built years before Hwy 400 was ever extended that far. It was built and then left full of dirt and the building was built on top of it until 400 was extended to it.
I had a customer/friend at my cigar store in Buckhead in the early '80s that showed me the mock up of the Financial Center. He lifted the building and showed me how 400 was going to go under the building. Seemed far fetched back then. What a visionary.
Great drive on GA-400 from Cumming to downtown Atlanta GA
Awesome video, Mike! Glad to see the nice but dangerous progress of the construction with I-285.
Yes, especially with the lane shifting
Thank you for showing the US 19 shield alongside the GA 400 shield until US 19 departs GA 400 at the I-285 interchange. US 19 SB follows I-285 WB for one exit to Roswell Road, then follows Roswell Road SB into Buckhead.
GDOT currently has no signage posted that directs US 19 SB traffic onto I-285 WB. They have always been very sloppy about properly posting the US 19 designation along its concurrency with GA 400.
No problem. GA 400 is one of the rare instances I’ve seen where the state highway takes priority over the US highway.
@@MileageMikeTravels I've seen alot of interstates that have U.S highways and state routes (usually unsigned) that run concurrent with them and there's no signage to see the U.S highways or state routes
i used to live in Cumming, Ga and was there when they were first constructing Hwy 400...i worked at Griffins Marina off N E EXPRESSWAY and Shallowford Rd.
I remember driving up to Cumming in 1995 and at the current exit 14 there wasn't even a traffic light. The county's population exploded from 44,000 in 1990 to 250,000 now.
Incredible growth in such a short time.
First time here Mike. A drive from GA400 to the Airport would be very helpful and also get a lot of views. 😉
Good idea
22:36 sounds like Texas pavement
This is literally my trek from Cumming to the Atl Airport.
Same. Although this was easy traffic…I get on at 13.
@@atl3630 Me too. 13 is a better option for me.
Cool Video
Nice
Very nice 👍 beautiful 😻 I like cenematic travel vlogs ❤

Alpharetta Autobahn!
Pretty cool ride on 2X speed. Though 400 is a highway and not an interstate, notice how tree lined it is with few buildings or gas stations or hotels etc visible. This is just part of the beauty of North Georgia.
It is built to interstate standards; it just doesn’t have an interstate highway designation.
Something else that is not widely known: SR 400, from SR 53 near Dawsonville to I-285, is an Appalachian Development Highway System highway, corridors A and A1.
It is tree lined because it is mainly for the Northern suburbs and connects a lot of residential traffic. This area is high end so they don't have many gas stations in the area either
@@w-josh There actually are gas stations convenient to all of the exits until you get to Sandy Springs, just before reaching I-285
Cumming is the best city name ever
It is even spelled correctly!
Another name for GA-400: Lake Lanier Hwy
Recognized the bald ridge marina on ramp
Isn't this the stretch where all the super speeders are?
36.10. Tunnel with building on top.
I’ve lived in Atlanta all of my life, and this videos does the current Atlanta "traffic situation" no justice. It’s 10 times worst than this on any given day and time. The implants have taken over!! It takes 40 mins to go 15 minutes away in all directions now… Smh

31:40 whoever designed this should've reconsidered this or learned from Texas about building the freeway.
What do you think about how FL's plans to redo some of their interstates?
@@w-josh what is Florida planning to do?
@@MileageMikeTravels they're Reconstructing the Malfunction Junction Downtown Tampa, adding a DDI at I-75/Wesley Chapel Blvd, Reconstructing the Westshore Interchange, Reconstructing the Howard Frankland Bridge, and They have finished a project with The SR 60/I-75/SR 618 interchange so it has better CD lanes. In Orlando they're connecting FL 429 & FL 417, a proposed plan to build an extension above FL 414 (similar to the Selmon Extension), and They recently finished adding express lanes. Jacksonville is adding another lane to the Fuller Warren Bridge and adding a lane on the 95 south ramp after Stockton Street, Reconstructing the I-95/I-295 North Interchange, and adding express lanes On I-295 from FL-9B to JTB. Miami is reconstructing the Turnpike. Information for these projects can be found on the youtube channels of FDOT District 7 (Tampa), THEA (Tampa), CFX (Orlando) RS&H (Jacksonville) MDX (Miami). I don't know where you can find a video of the I-95/I-295 North Interchange or reconstructing the FL Turnpike but you'll find the most info on the FDOT website (fdot.gov)
In 2023 you will need to edit this at about 26:00 to Change it to say Buckhead City, GA.
The GA legislature has not approved Buckhead’s secession from Atlanta yet.
@@jbm71 If you read again I wrote "In 2023".........
@@c.a.nixiii4650 I saw that, but you described it as if it was a done deal that it would happen in 2023, and it isn’t a done deal. The legislature still has to approve it, and there’s no guarantee that they will approve it if it comes back up in the 2023 session.
@@jbm71 Should have put a wink in there. There was a touch of sarcasm intended. As in..."better get ready to change the video as it's going to be Buckhead City in 2023" as in it is likely going to happen as it did with Sandy Spring and Johns Creek. 😉😉😉
@@c.a.nixiii4650 OK. You had me wondering if the secession/cityhood had already been approved to take effect in 2023 and I had missed hearing about it, and then I had to go look it up to learn that it was killed for now in the 2022 session.😊
Sandy Springs, Johns Creek, Milton, South Fulton, Stonecrest, Brookhaven…but none of those were already part of Atlanta like Buckhead is. So you think it will happen?
Sounds like you are driving an EV. No loud engine noise

I can admit that I drive at minimum 100 mph on 400 when there aren't any Sandy Springs police camping out.
Very nice vid but the name of the vid is intresting… (Ik that’s the name of the town but it sounds so sus)

N.B. 400 is not coming to downtown Atlanta. Cumming is a town,
