Your mom is lovely. However, I wish someone would post a video of a 300pd person with huge, wide feet and calves who needs a compression hose assistance.

Mike, thank you for your comment. Yes, we understand what you are saying. Here is a product that takes into consideration calf and foot size.

I am an OT and a certified lymphedema therapist with a suggestion and precaution. When putting on compression knee highs, never leave the top of the knee high over the knee as it is likely to fold or roll down and create a tight band behind or just below the knee. This can have a tourniquet effect that can actually trap the fluid in the lower leg by compressing and blocking the lymphatic vessels that drain the fluid. It will also be very uncomfortable and tempt you to throw away your stockings and never wear them again. Try to position the stocking so it is released from the donner just below the knee WITHOUT the top of the stocking rolling or folding. Alternately, you can use compression stocking "donning" gloves which are meant for this purpose, or find a clean pair of gardening gloves with the rubber coating on the palm, rubber gloves (something with a tacky rubbery palm or even those flat rubber jar openers if you don't have anything else. Then simply stroke the top third of the stocking in the direction of the foot until the fabric is laying flat and is about a finger's width below the knee. Do not allow the stocking to fold or roll! You will be much safer and more comfortable and it is actually quite easy to do if you can reach to just below your knee.

Thank you so much. We will have to order one of these for my mom.She is 93 and although she has reduced feeling in her feet and legs, we have to be careful. Been using powder only..

Karen, these are definitely helpful for the caregiver or the individual if they are able to easily bend down. These come in different sizes so be sure to check that out. We are glad this was helpful. Take care!

I need to know if this would work for me putting thirty pound stockings on my wife whose feet are paralyzed. The first time I put one of those socks on her, it caught on her little toenail and lifted it so that it bled. I was so upset at causing that problem for her - the numbness in her foot kept it from hurting badly, but still was a problem to deal with. Took weeks to heal. Now it takes me about ten to fifteen minutes per leg to put those on her. Ideas?

Thanks for your question. The stocking donner would definitely save your energy but you will still need to be careful when putting her toes in. When you place stocking on the donner the stocking is essentially inside out except for the toe area. However the toe area is at least in a more open position allowing you to more clearly monitor and correct the position of the toes before “rolling” the stocking up her leg. Additionally, you will need to check the size of the stocking donnor. Sizes are based on the circumference of the calf. Please check out the comment section below the video for additional detail on sizes. ✌️❤️AECorner

Bedofdust, thank you for your comment. We know, we wish facilities would supply something like this for their caregivers. It would certainly help to make things easier. Maybe raise your facilities awareness that this is out there. Take care!
