    Another verse to use is 2 Peter 1:3
    According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: God has given us all thing that pertain to life & godliness. No need for the Holy Spirit to speak to us. We have all that God wants us to have in His Inspired Written Word.

    I have never claimed to have any of the miraculous gifts I read about in the New Testament. However there is a major timeline problem in regards to the 27 books of the New testament being brought together under one binding. The earliest canons of the New testament we're somewhere between 200 and 400 AD. The last of the apostles probably died before 100 AD. Most if not all of those who still had miraculous gifts were not apostles probably died out before 150 -160 AD. So all those people living at that time were without confirmation via miraculous gifts. And even when the Canon of scripture was completed the amount of copies available were very limited because the printing press had never been invented yet until the late 1400s. So the populations of approximately 1,000 years had no confirmation of God's word because they never had a copy of it for reference sake.

    • @MetalForEmmanuel
      @MetalForEmmanuel Před rokem +2

      All of those gifts are still active, people just stopped believing in them because they didn't see them. We walk by faith not by sight....well, we're supposed to anyways. I've seen miracles and healings and, while those things are great and glorify God, those things don't keep me from sinning or falling away from the faith. We must be born again and obey Jesus' commands. Knowing him matters more than anything. Miracles are easy because God does it, but dying to self isn't.

    I agree in needing to study and be studied in topics I am preaching or teaching, but there are frequently scriptures that come to my recollection that were not in my thoughts while studying that enhance and improve the lesson. Would this not fall under the concept of the Spirit bringing to recollection the things we have been taught from the word of God (the Bible)?

    Here is my response to this. In 1 Corinthians 6 the apostle Paul says in verse 19-20 "Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? 20For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s." So following the logic of the spiritual gifts died after the Apostles died, how then does this verse work? So did the Holy Spirit not fill the people of the Corinthian church also? If they filled the people of the Corinthian church, would not have they also had passed the Holy Spirit to others as well if it was just passed from man?
    Paul quite literally states, "Whom you have received from God". So clearly man did not give the Holy Spirit, but God did. Hebrews 13:8 states that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. If God is 3 in 1, then the Holy Spirit is also God. Jesus also said that he was God in John 8:58 "Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I am". The Holy Spirit is also God. Peter confirms this in Acts 5:4.
    So if Jesus and the Holy Spirit are God, that means that they don't change and can't lie. God gave the Apostles the Holy Spirit, and God gave those in Corinth the Holy Spirit. And if God is the same yesterday, today, and forever, then how can the Holy Spirit not be inside of believers today?

    • @MetalForEmmanuel
      @MetalForEmmanuel Před rokem

      Yeah, nothing changed. People still receive the Holy Spirit the same as in the Bible. I've seen miracles and healings the same as the original church did. All things are possible to them that believe. If you don't believe....guess what? All things aren't possible to YOU. You can follow Jesus and not see a supernatural life like he did if you were taught and believe those things don't happen anymore. It comes down to what you believe.
      Although, seeing miracles and the power of God in action doesn't keep you holy or prevent you from sinning. That's why living holy is stressed in the epistles and not so much the spiritual signs and wonders. Think about it....there's gonna be people in Heaven who never performed a miracle or cast out a devil, but there will be people in hell who did both. God bless your pursuit of the truth, my friend.

      @Ironside No offense bro but some of that contradicts the other but I got you. Mostly they don't even believe what you said. But that's why I want to have these discussions. I was in class where the professor was Coc and started framing scripture and I said something then I didn't even know the sweet girl next to me was a Pentecostal and she went all the way the other direction and I respond to that another Coc member of like long time maybe 40-60 years says no you do have the spirit to the guy. I'm friends with all of them except haven't seen the Pentecostal girl since that class...
      I won't get into what I have experienced in my life, but this Coc doctrine is dangerous, and they don't even know where it comes from because "we don't have a founder"🤦‍♂ it's just one of my goals to bring this to light...have some discussions maybe get Coc and Pentecostal in the same room...but ether way it will be brought to light just as do with all others no one is safe from the truth and this ether is or borders on heretically...if the Coc just let the scriptures speak they wouldn't come to this conclusion...
      I was on fire immediately and studied on my own as well as with them... a member acted like he wanted to study like take me under his wing but I quickly saw errors he was pushing and it turned out him and another guy wanted to bring an accusation against the preacher who baptized me and they full on attacked him over something ridiculous divided the whole church at least 50% including myself left after they fired him...
      I chuckle when the professors are complimenting my knowledge like it's a brain full of words from bible...seriously I'm about bible this is my purpose in life focus on doctrine...I've studied pretty much all mainstream doctrines...I'm not threatening to no one, but I can't keep quite when false doctrine is passed off or people come up with crazy interpretations of scriptures...
      I love you and them even more the reason to pursue it
      I know you don't realize it but just like the "nudge" comment, you didn't come up with that and it's derogatory and dangerous I'm not promoting new prophecies or a lot of the tom foolery, but I'm seriously concerned

      @joshgering47 Před rokem

      @Ironside Ironsides was name of my army unit lol...Amen brother keep studying and fact check all men. Yeah, maybe I'd have to recount what I said because for one I was responding thinking you were fully drinking the Kool aid (Jim Jones reference lol)...You are correct the Church of Christ seems to be if we were running a point system to be winning in a lot of ways as to the closeness to scriptures, but this is big one the Godhead! By the way if you mention it to many different members, you will see different reactions...I was brand new Christian and asked several members after church as you know we chit chat "Do you ever feel the Holy Spirit?" You would've thought I drew a pentagram on the floor they looked at me like they saw a ghost or I was (Lord forgive my words) possessed...They give evil looks sometimes when the Holy Spirit is brought up...
      I quit my Elementary Greek class because of some of this, the instructor was saying he didn't know why the church was a "she" (she is because she is the bride of Christ not the building but the body of believers in or out of their church) and another that the Holy Spirit was neuter which is possibly true in the Greek ek-i'-nos in John 14:26 can mean ether of the three he, she, it...they said it was "it" and I was offended (Hebrew takes different position as well)
      but finally, the same professor of Coc preaching school also attacked me for my attendance in the church saying I was a liar for claiming I love God and not showing up for service...
      This is the funny part I actually was struggling with the Greek, and I made a statement to 2 different professors I talked to often and was friends with that I dropped out of high school and failed out of college because I was behind in English, not a great reader was sometimes a little slower of a learner for these reasons and said that it was why my knowledge of the bible and understanding was so amazing and they literally said I learned the bible so easy because it was a subject I liked...
      Do you see what I mean?
      I was giving glory to God, and they worried about trying to prove it is only good suggestions on paper that we are physically able to follow on our own...
      Some and I say some Pentecostals are very close if they realized we don't have gifts for a sign, and they aren't oneness...
      This is why I'm investing so much energy in this out of love for them the Coc...

    • @joshgering47
      @joshgering47 Před rokem

      @Ironside It's not the Lord's church bro...
      unless you mean all of the churches are...this the Kool aid and some more of it "we are the church from the bible we don't have a founder" they absolutely do Alexender Campelle and 2 others...
      They forked off like all other churches and some went in radically different directions look it up Disciples of Christ ext...
      You said: " I believe the Holy Spirit bodily indwells me. and to convict me and when I have a "feeling" to do "xyz" it is because I am living in the Spirit"
      that's the "nudge"
      (Please don't ever say that again I heard FL Coc preacher say this it is dangerous statement that you or they will answer for)
      They won't say it like this but as I said they don't even believe that the scriptures put the Holy Spirit in you...
      they are attempting a work around or circle back to convince they are just following the scriptures...
      research what John Wycliffe and William Tyndale believed did they teach this Holy Spirit doctrine since it's just letting scriptures speak...
      I think they are correct on musical instruments...
      in the sense that God wants it this way with the rock bands and performances they have today but the scripture "making Melody in your heart" was from psalms and it was a lot about musical instruments I haven't been able to find it again because God doesn't want me to fight it, but it is talking about praising God with your whole being your heart your body.
      You said "why do you think that is? (Fallen world?)" short answer the devil...
      Have you studied the true depth of this Martin Luther John Calvin doctrine?
      Ok I laid this out in comments of these guys response to James White...
      John Wycliffe and William Tyndale are responsible for the reformation the production of the English bible there were others but for the sake of conversation we'll just look at them...
      They stuck to the scriptures and wanted everyone to read it for themselves...I'll find the long explanation and post it below here...
      But the devil was in the Catholic this is most of the book of Revelation talking about them and exactly what has happened today...They all spoke of this as well Calvinist doctrine changed it to a future beast because they rely on a rapture which isn't in scriptures because they don't believe we will be judged!
      There was already a movement to leave the Harlot Church...I believe these 2 individuals Luther and Calvin might have even been literally working for the Catholic church through this process...
      But ether way the devil saw people escaping false doctrine and created another one...then a revival each one containing some sprinkled truths with a hidden big lie Jesus is not or He's an angel you know as we referenced, they all have something like it...A possible salvation threatening issue...
      The Coc more specifically Alexander Campelle saw this crazy revival (look at the years he started this) false prophets saying God spoke to me and said we must keep the sabbath or you name it God said the end will come Jesus will come back in 1914...
      They Coc of Christ as they do with most things tried to get in front of these things No one has the Holy Spirit! The scriptures don't teach that they try to say but they can't back it up with that when they look in there, so they use verses that seem to allude to God not talking to people or interacting with them...
      I promise you on everything and I'm fully aware my statements I will answer to God that...
      God more specifically Jesus very will does interact with people today but it's not good for people to just look for that and he wouldn't be involved with someone that doesn't care about the scriptures He doesn't struggle to not contradict them...
      I won't go too deep because it gets to a point where people get jealous and lash out...
      I've literally had my immediate death halted more than twice probably but 2 I know for absolutely sure 1 was in Iraq involving an RPG fired at me another was a stupid mistake in mist of corona virus taking too much medicine...You don't have to believe everyone or even me, but the faith people are having that attack people like me is like insurance policy just in case...
      Do believe without a shred of doubt Jesus Christ can come down from heaven right now and talk to you?
      This is the faith you should have...
      my life has been filled with incidents people tried to explain away my family and myself more so but since a baby...My family watched fire fighters stare at a picture that was supposed to be Jesus my grandmother had that had a perfect circle around it in a fire that destroyed everything... after my mom prayed to get her out of her in laws house that night...Experts of fire tried to prove it wasn't that and were moved in their hearts...
      I don't think it makes me any more special than others, but our faith has always been strong...
      I can't impart to you that someone spoke into my head in Iraq and said 'run as fast as you can" as a shoulder fired Rocket propelled grenade was 100-200 feet above my head falling on me that ended up landing on the other side of the track just out kill radius me feeling the heat on my face...
      Like I said bro I love them, Coc but they will attack your faith in these ways
      they whispered or whatever about me when I told that story as a early Christian on fire for God ready to do anything for Him...
      "God doesn't hear a sinner's prayer" they said behind my back...
      The preacher actually tried to prove that wasn't the case which sealed his fate, and he didn't care he was Coc but he saw something in me in my story that's not only stories...too many to count or harder to believe so I stopped talking about it because it seemed like it was getting in the way of my effectiveness to get people on the scriptures...
      God wasn't dealing with me to write new scriptures as they say just like the Holy Spirit doesn't have to write new scriptures to push you or remind you or whatever maybe He does speak I'm not entirely sure but it's not like the movies you know
      God the Father and Jesus can at any time speak into your head...I suspect in Iraq that was angel, but they don't explain those things to me they expect me to go to bible to understand things one incident He Christ literally told me to read it and study quickly...i suspect so that I won't fall in false doctrine this was before as Coc would say I was saved in baptism (which I support water)
      The Coc of trips over easy scriptures because they don't believe in the Holy Spirit...I see Him metaphorically waving from there doctrine not meant to be insulting but here there are again missed the point again...
      Holy Spirit has helped me see false doctrine
      God is probably using them as well against the heretical Calvinist doctrine...But something needs to change in the way of doctrines I don't yet know what or how that will happen I'm starting my own channel for starters
      I would love to keep talking to you because you seem genuine, I'm like you on a lot of things searching for answers myself

    Aaron, does the CoC that you belong to (or the CoC at large) have any written doctrines concerning the Holy Spirit and His indwelling? If so, is there a book 📕 you could recommend (other than the Bible) that condenses those beliefs and addresses those many passages that apply not to only the apostles, but to “rank and file Christians” like myself? I have heard that the CoC does not believe in the promised Holy Spirit that was prophesied of in the Book of Joel in the OT and which Jesus confirmed in the NT. Is that true about the CoC? I have a question. Do you think the people who spoke in tongues in the 1st century understood what they were saying? They did not speak those languages, so I was just curious if they understood what they were speaking. Perhaps not, since Paul said there needed to be someone to interpret (1 Corinthians 14:27-28) when one spoke in tongues. Paul also said in verse 22 of the same chapter that the gift of tongues was a sign for unbelievers, not for believers. Yet the people today who claim to speak in tongues do so to impress those who believe.
