      58:03 I don't think Throp can speak to the issues of beach access in Jamaica. You cannot access any beach in Ocho Rios area without paying. Also Puerto Seco in Discovery Bay.The beaches in St Mary and now beaches in Portland. This is no BS as he was alluding to We have no public access, because the persons who own properties along the beach restrict public access, or others you have to pay. Unlike the Eastern Caribbean (Barbados, St Lucia, Dominican etc, where you access any beach you want to"

    • @mdl9096
      @mdl9096 Před 7 měsíci +3

      @basilbyfield5913 Jamaica has hundreds of beaches, so you are straight up lying. It is a political talking point. You cannot compare Barbados and St. Lucia to Jamaica because Jamaica is bigger than the two countries combined. Get your facts straight and stop spreading rumors about the beaches in Jamaica.

    • @basilbyfield5913
      @basilbyfield5913 Před 7 měsíci

      @@mdl9096 Do you even understand what you are responding to? I grew up going to those beaches where the cruise ships dock in Ocho Rios, you can't access those beaches anymore, they are sold. The beaches in Oracabessa, where Beaches is (old Playboy hotel) you probably wouldn't know that. Do you know Prospect in St Mary. Tower Isle and Boscobel, all those beach front are privately own. Why is Jamaica not comparable to the Eastern Caribbean, they have less beaches and freer access, that means Jamaica should have more and freer access. How is that a lie?` I can provide you with more information if you are not informed. I am speaking to what I know. Growing up as a child I use to be able to access those beaches for free, but not now.

    Great interview. As a Jamaican living in Africa, I see a bridge being built to connect the Caribbean and continent. Thanks for this.
    We as Jamaicans living abroad, especially in the US and Europe, have a sense that we may be treated in a negative manner from stories of the past. Jamaicans who share bad experiences about Jamaica is doing a disservice. Which that includes myself.
    I’m in Tanzania currently, African people ask about Jamaica and why I like their country, we often refer to the crime situation. As he mentioned , crimes are in pockets everywhere, not to judge the entire island as crime infested.
    I have great thoughts of returning to my family in Jamaica, feel a need to add to its economy by building well maintained and affordable residence for our people.

    • @feonasmith9226
      @feonasmith9226 Před 7 měsíci +6

      I will never understand why people keep using the crime excuse for leaving Jamaica. If someone asks why you left, just say you needed a change. I don’t hear anyone else tearing down their own country when they leave like Jamaicans do. They seem to feel the urge to justify their decision by offering up the worse thing about the country they could think of. I guess is the dark side of Jamaican culture, this desire to tear down the country and boost up others.

    African Tigress great interview with Throp. I have watched his investment programs, but to you, he really opened up. So we got to know a bit more about him. On the South Coast in St. Elizabeth there is a place called 'Jake's' back in the day it was voted the best 'small hotel' in the world. When you first get there you think it must be a joke. However after spending some time there it's like you just got fitted with a new pair of glasses and now you see what the world really looks like. You see what the wealthy see, the simple elegance, that's 'Jake's'....

      I think the place is run by Jason Henzel, son of the guy who made the film "The Harder They Come" with Jimmy Cliff. Now they might take one year to build 1 room but they engineer it to look 'old'. So 5 star everything but from the outside it kinda looks like a shack. This is either magic or genius. At the end of a week stay you feel like a new born baby. Energy levels are off the charts. Tears fall out of a grown man's eyes when he knows it's time to leave. Yeah..

Jamaica have cruise liners full to overflowing with tourists docking at Falmouth, Kingston and Ocho Rios daily. Jamaica is also preparing to service cruise Liners at its deep sea port, the only one in the Caribbean. Jamaica is on an upward spiral for the betterrrrr. As spoke about how he thought he understood our culture there is a colloquial expression that comes to mind , it goes like this "see mi a one and come live wid mi a two different things." Nothing beats having a firsthand experience of a particular place, people,culture etc. ha ha

    My grandma #Florence was a fishmonger, she used to ride her donkey from #GrangeHill to #Negril to buy fish. At that time, there were only dirt roads. Negril was a bushy area. If only my Granny #Florence aka #AuntyRobinson was alive to see #Negril now!

    Very good interview! Thoroughly enjoyed it. Good job! I was glad Throp mentioned the misinformation that is out there about Jamaica. I feel like we are under attack on social media for some reason. The worse part is that Jamaicans don’t seem to understand this and keep providing ammunition to these people. Anyway, hope we figure it out soon. Keep up the good work.

    Glad to see you both got a chance to connect; was one of those individuals suggesting that you meetup. Have been following his channel for sometime, stayed at his hotel Travelers, met him once and he was so welcoming.
    Saying again; you should visit Roaring River in Petersfield and also Pelican Bar in Bluefield if you have time on that side of the island.

    From what I know, not all the natives have the freedom to go to all the beaches. Some of the beaches are restricted to the locals. That much I know.
    Woooow I use to use Winthrop Car Service, they still exist.
