      Hey Scotty did I make a good buy? I just purchased a 1990 F150 XLT lariat for $1500 and only has 86,000 original miles on it. It steers great, oil is good, transmission fluid was just changed, and fires right up like a charm. I did have to replace the battery and the battery cable clamps due to corrosion but other than that no leaks or nothing!

      He has an East Coast mentality in foreign cars are better, truth is they are not. I have a Dodge right now with over 400k on the clock, most of my Jeeps had over 200K before I was thinking about selling them. Chrysler made good products or else the Minivans would have died out decades ago. Hmmm makes you wonder if they are so crappy why people still buy them, the fact is they are good for the price and the quality is good. The issue with the transmission was the solenoid pack that had to be replaced and afterwards it would solve the hard shifts, so again somebody who gave a biased opinion with no true information.

    • @user-rc7ts9xu6b
      @user-rc7ts9xu6b Před 20 dny

      @@markhampton6178 It's not just Scotty saying these things, there are thousands and possibly millions of people all across America who have bought and owned Dodge and Chrysler vans and have been absolutely horrendous. Those solenoid packs are garbage. They are rated at the bottom of every list for the worst reliability, people who bought them have had numerous complaints about the build quality including engines blowing up, transmissions going out and excessive oil consumption. Meanwhile Toyota Sienna's and Honda Odyssey's are running around with 200,000-250,000 miles AND UP and they still run fine with LITTLE to NO issues! Japanese cars are outpacing domestic cars by a huge margin. There's a reason for that. The simple truth is that foreign cars especially Japanese brands, ARE in fact BETTER. The quality in those Chrysler's is absolute trash. They are not good quality cars at all. And people who keep buying them are fools.

(Taxi Authorities) retired them. You all know how taxi drivers wrecked down any cars so they were pretty well built, the only flaws about them was the cheap gas used by the company. I put some dough in the suspension. Oh this van has 245k on it by the way. The A/C works great it does have rear A/C. NO LEAKS! LOL. My paint is really good. I had a 2005 chrysler Town and Country. I bought it from my job for $300 dollars. It had 289,000 miles on ti and was not well taken care of. I lasted 2 1/2 years before I had to get rid of it. I only put a water pump on it and had the original spark plugs changed. It did use oil about a quart every 3 fillups.. When I got rid of it it had almost 400,000 miles. That is when the transmission finally was going out.
    My wife had one with 200,000 when she bought it. The transmission went out at around 260,000 miles and after replacement it made it to around 300,000.

It still doesn't use a drop of oil. It never went over 5k miles without an oil change. The bottom is rotted out because of Michigan. The second exhaust is rotted out and it's on the 3rd alternator. Other than that it's still very reliable and runs like new.

    I've got a 2006 with the 2.4L. Got it a 6 years ago with 100K for $2400. Still runs great and has no rust. Pulled the trans pan--almost no sludge. Easy to maintain for a DIY-er. Average 21mpg. If you keep the throttle body clean and use high quality plugs, it has good throttle response.
    Caravans have a problem with corrosion on the IPM contacts (fuse box connectors), so it's necessary to spray them out with electronics cleaner every few years to prevent stuff like "wipers came on with headlights." I recommend to clean up the engine bay ground wires periodically as well. 2.4 Caravans will run for a long time with simple care.
