Victoria has won over $2.5m in televised poker tournaments.
The funny thing was she couldn't read Lee Macks tale on WILTY about breaking his wife's cooking pot? Laughed so hard as she was wrong.
Plus she's an absolute fox.
@@anitahargreaves9526 Lee has many series of expereinces in Wilty. But more importantly, he VERY rarely has truths anymore becaue he and David have run out of them a long time ago.
He ususally goes for the performance and the story and the pot thing felt exactly like that.
A quick yodeling lesson:
"Knock! Knock!"
"Who's there?"
"Little Old Lady"
When I was being taught chess as a kid the knight’s L-shaped movement was explained to me as ‘clippety-clippety-clop’. I still say it to myself in my head every time. I’m 39.
Martin Amis is an author. Search his name in any book store. Son of Kingsley Amis, also an author, his most famous work was probably Lucky Jim.
and passed not too long ago. A great writer.
Fun Fact ... The priest (Richard Cole) used to be in 80's pop band The Communards!.... check em out 👍
I bet he’s seen some stuff
Now, *that* was a handbrake turn.
I haven't played chess for a VERY long time, but here in the UK at school, that's how it was explained. Up 1 diagonal 1
yep for me too
The knight always landing on the other colour is a good way to avoid knight forks in a time scramble. Two pieces can only ever be forked by a knight if they're on the same colour as one another
QI is such a great show. I've even got the book. Its only half an hour so maybe you could do 2 parts of a complete show 👌
You could say Martin Amis and his dad were famous, I think everyone on the QI panel would know him.
My father taught me 40yrs ago & I'm still learning. Great reaction. Love you guys
Have a look at the quiz show that Victoria presents called Only Connect. The questions are all fiendishly difficult
I play chess using the Richard Richard method, but it always ends up with my face in the fridge.
😂😁
The knight can i either go up or down 1 and across 2 or up or down 2 and across 1, so 3 but never in a straight line
Hi Jodi & Nick, would you consider reacting to a full episode of QI like you do with Countdown? There are some classic episodes including stars such as Carrie Fisher, Daniel Radcliffe, and Trevor Noah
I always remembered the knight as it was told to me originally, move two then one to the side.
One straight then one diagonal
The person she was quoting was Martin Amis. I wonder how he, Stephen, Victoria, and an unknown Ricky Gervais all ended up in a poker game tho. Ricky's breakthrough was around year 2000 so it had to be before that. I'm pretty sure Victoria would also have been unknown at that time which makes it even more wild.
Get well soon Jodie 👍👍
Was Jodie on NyQuil?
Victoria Coren Mitchell is married to David Mitchell from WILTY
You done good nick, essentially got it. Arithmetic schmerithmetic
You did good, Nick. You just made a hiccup on the maths, but you had the logic.
there are also tons of different poker versions but rarely special house rules for chess.
There are special house rules for chess up until you’re about 6 years old
@@andywatts8654 There are special house rules until you learn chess* doesn't matter if you're 6 or 60.
@@andywatts8654 ok official then. many of these Poker variants are official poker variants, but there is only one official chess.
Although the egyptian version it allegegeldy came from, was very different.
No, the maximum number is 64. If they're all the same colour, none of them can take each other.
Chess can be fast if it wants to. «Coughs in 'Bullet'!» 😅
Only people who didn't learn chess traditionally talk about a diagonal part of a knight's move. Traditionally it's always taught as two forwards then one to the side. Some manuals never even occasionally refer to it as one to the side then two forwards (which would yield the same result). There are often diagrams showing the eight moves a knight can make depicting it as forwards then sideways (and not the other way 'round).
People who claim it's just one forwards and one diagonal (in either order of your choice) are trying to show that they're clever because they can visualise it a different way, were taught by someone lazy who wanted to show off, or are trying to teach you something that will annoy proper chess players later if you brag about knowing it to show off.
Nick! i've never saw you without your cap! that's a fine head of hair lol!
I think I can say with confidence that I'm an overall chess expert. I've owned and used many different overalls in my life, dungaree type ones, two piece and one piece, some were denim, others were waterproof. I can confirm, in the overall chess world we were taught L... Overall
I was taught the Knight moves " one, two and one to the side".
Coke Studio Pakistan is back guys. Please react to it's first 2 songs that have already released. 2AM would be more likeable for you.
Best Bitton unboxing ever! They so boring...
I got it immediately, ngl 😂
Nick has hair!
Either way is fine. L or 2 up 1 d. Chess is taught with both movements for a Knight
React to coke studio pakistan season 15 please
What you failed to see is he was flexing on her, and she slapped him down politely and very professionally...
I do an "L" but I guess it don't matter how you get there as long as it is a legal move.
Perhaps Russian players call it "ghe" 'cos their letter Г is shaped like that?
You can actually put 64, 32 of each colour, because they can only take the other colour pieces.
Well hatless Nick and stoner Jodie, that Doug cartoon was written by someone existential angst because they reference French philosophers and loads of esoteric things that kids just wouldn’t understand. I miss that kind of intellectual tv.
Yes I always think of it as an L move
If we're really following the rules of allowable knight moves, the answer is 64. They just all need to be the same color, because you can't take your own piece.
There is circular chess
Hatless Nick here.
Chess and Poker aren’t really comparable, given one requires skill and the other just pure luck!
Great reaction as always! Get well soon Jody 😁
The skill in poker is more playing the other players body language telling how good a hand they have and not showing ya own tells and when to fold , play or bluff . It’s just a different skill . Although u do read the playing in chess to some degree
Both require skill. Chess is a zero sum perfect information game, while poker is an information gathering and risk management game. Both requite skill and understanding, just in different ways.
Clearly not true, you wouldn't get good players who consistently win if that was the case.
Hi, Coke studio Season 15 is out, please do reaction videos on it
Is Martin Amis ""Some Famous guy""... Aren't you schoolteachers...?
oh ... just GET ON WITH IT.
... Martin Amis (RIP) was a famous English author, son of Kingsly Amis.
Not sure if you guys know this or not, but Victoria Coren-Mitchell (blonde poker player) is married to David Mitchell
There's a great clip of them both on WILTY
They have done videos with her in on Wilty so they know 😅😀
Victoria was asked after winning $US500,000 "what she was going to do with the money", she replied "pay off her mortgage", apparently the printed story quoted her and said this was the reason women should not play poker!
Positive Algorithm Comment
Not true. Answer is 64 if all same colour as you can’t take your own piece
Surely the play button should have gone to Gabe. He brings in 99% of the viewers, after all.
Tuckfcvs😮
This one is a reminder of why Alan is there . This was interesting but way over the non expert .
Considering it wasn’t even based on a real life chess possibility it wasnt that interesting to me
@@andywatts8654🤓
For a grown woman Jodie acts so childishly it's nauseatingly boring😂
No, she has a personality, unlike some 👉@cherryblossom3046
Nick looks so different without a hat, he's a handsome man.
Shave your head man I can see Bruce Willis under that hair
