Jacob and the gang at @smedingperformance154 spec’d out his C5 Corvette FRC “Ricky” for Standing Mile races. Their team dumped a whole lotta Smeding Secret Science Sauce on that 402ci LS3 engine, and by sauce we mean NOS! Basan’s 240SX is a roll racer with a fully built AND turbocharged 2JZ engine swap, HUGE tires, and Hert seems to think 800 horsepower miiiiiight be under-balling a little. I disagree. The corvette looks like it's super-well-sorted and arranged. I didn't detect a lie anywhere around that. That's a 200 MPH car all day with that setup. Not overbuilt. Just a purpose built machine who can do other things. Just like the Hoonicorn was.

It's honestly the car. The 240 has a 650lb motor over the front axles of the car, and probably makes a weight balance of 65/35, while the Corvette has a 440lb motor sitting behind the front axles, with a perfect 50/50 weight balance. Keep in mind Corvettes are designed as world class performance cars for the track, not some Japanese sports coupe meant to give the standard econobox driver a smile

That red corvette has definite driver mod, even on paper the s14 should’ve won. Great driver
You're not wrong but the way a turbo car quickly spools up power would make it very difficult to modulate power and keep it right at the edge of available traction. A NA car is much easier because the power doesn't spike up like that. I used to own a C5 and I just love a NA LS, almost electric power delivery.
The Vette driver seemed to know his car a lot more than the 240 driver. Think that’s why he won this race.

I have a feeling that the 240's budget was 95% motor. With some suspension work it might have been a different story because it was clearly making insane power. Running through the fence was scary, how long will it be before someone with no cage or helmet catches the grass and barrel-rolls into oblivion? I hope Hoonigan has some good lawyers.

The guy with the 240sx said he welded the rear diff, which is why it was so hard to control.
He should have used a limited-slip differential so if he starts spinning at least one of the rear tires can refrain from spinning

Track needs to be cleaned all the way down and with cars making more than 600hp there should be some kind of prep. I know the drivers would probably pitch in to pay for prep as well its just safer and you get a much better race, better race = better content.
If only it were that easy they would...im sure its government regulations,licenses, taxes, etc...that stop them from just prepping easily

550hp…yeah I don’t think so…my CLS63 has 500hp there no way I would be able to keep up with a fully built 2JZ running 800hp…something don’t seem right with the numbers...and even then I think that 2JZ had more horse power.
