Whole family of Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj....his mother, Maata Jijabai, his two daughters in law...Maharani Yesubai and Tara Rani...like a tiggress they challenged Aurangzeb face to face, one at his own Mahal and one never let him touch their territory. People forget them.🙏 My respect to them, because they were I think the real motivation for Rani Laxmi Bai also. It is not that there had been no precedent for Laxmi Bai hi.

@Barbarik Very true.....menstruation was never a taboo in ancient India..... women were advised not to visit Temples while menstruating not because periods were dirty.... It was becuase temples were situated at quite a distance as there was only 1 big temple in the towns....and thus to avoid any physical strain to the body... They were advised not to visit.....i repeat..there was no compulsion/strict rules about it.... It was just advised! And the same reason was for not entering the kitchen....infact the problem was not entering the kitchen....in ancient times, Indian food was prepared from scratch! All the spices to the curries all from fresh ingredients which required a lot of strenuous activity.....and so they were said to not work as they were already in so much pain already.....and as we lived in a joint family....the other women of the family could cook the meal instead..... Women were never discriminated in Indian society!!! They were highly respected and dignified!!! We must be proud about our own culture

So refreshing to hear because it makes sense. If you have not, I urge you to do a longer program on this subject. This knowledge is so very much needed by all, but especially women and girls. As you say, no other religious tradition has sacred texts knowingly authored by women. That is huge! I see religion as a means to an end, as a tool, but perhaps not as needed as one's own experiences with spirituality. Even with this perspective, when I hear you say women authored parts of the Rig Veda, something changes inside of me. I can look back deeply into the past, instead of with uncertainty, with a vision of valued, respected women. I don't know if it is possible for a guy to really appreciate how profound, yet subtle this empowering shift in perspective is created by this knowledge, but I can tell you that it is very much needed far and wide. If what to know how women should be treated just see how chatrapati shivaji maharaj treated them respectfully . You all will get goosebumps .The punishment for rape was to cut one hand and one leg and marathas were ordered to not even touch women of enemies also .Same was carried forward by sambhaji maharaj. In 27 years of war of independence ,women also fought against mughals because they were treated respectfully earlier and feeling of swarajya were given to them . That's why marathas were able to survive those dangerous 27 years of aurangzeb because each and every one irrespective of caste ,gender were fighting for freedom.

Its also sad that India's adults don't honour their ancient scriptures and accomplishments. India needs to vote better. Unite.
