Either Marriott or Rodgers or Reid could have worked well in Led Zeppelin, but Robert Plant's lyrics are unparalleled, and only added to the "mysticism" of the band, along with his stage presence. I'll tell you what, though...... I'd have loved to hear Paul Rodgers doing "Black Dog".

1:50 - Free were never a 'supergroup' for goodness sake, they were just a bunch of kids! However, Bad Co certainly were. But Free were the greatest band ever - they had the sound, the range in genres, from hard rock, blues, soul, funk and folk and they had the songs. If you don't know them I strongly recommend you get all their albums - there's only six of them - as soon as humanly possible.

Did you know that when Mick Ronson left the ‘Stones, Jagger and “Keef” approached Rory Gallagher to take his place, but Rory didn’t want to be a “background” rhythm player, so he turned them down to be in better control over his own music and band members. The rest is history. I’ve been a Gallagher fan since 1973, when I bought the brand new album “ TATTOO”, and I’ve seen him twice live since. June 14,1995 was a really bad day for Blues and Rock, I was in shock for awhile , at 44 ( I believe he was) dying from a “successful” liver transplant but succumbing to Sepsis poisoning. 🎶🇨🇦👍

Recently, I heard an interview segment uploaded by the Professor of Rock who did an extensive interview with Paul. In one of the segments, it was discussed how one single issued by the Firm featured Paul taking the guitar solo instead of Jimmy. There was some question as to whether or not Jimmy took issue with Paul playing lead instead of him. Apparently not.

One Bad Company show was probably the best I have ever seen, especially considering the selfishness of some musicians and how they really stepped up that night. I don't even remember who the opening act was, but they were not able to perform due to 'illness'. Bad company came on instead and not a minute late. They gave a full set, took a break, came back out and did it again. We were on the fence slightly off center. Everyone was cool, down to the security guards---especially the one who went backstage and brought us large sodas on ice. What a night!

Ok a few things missed here. First, Steve Marriot was Gods first choice, Marriots ego created issues and jimmy went to Robert, who also brought in Bonzo. The first person Jimmy approached was JPJ, he was adamant that they work together. Next, as for Free Paul was already working with Simon Kirke, and they met up with Andy Fraser, along with JPJ one of the greatest Bassists ever, and Koss came in last.
But here's the rub, Paul actually saved Jimmy, got him to play, 2 years after Bonzo's death. Paul agreed to form The Firm with Jimmy, even convincing him, at Clapton's request to play the Arms concerts, which Jimmy did not want to do, 6 weeks after starting to play again. Paul was instrumental in getting Jimmy off the drugs, and the two remain great mates to this day. Paul actually reformed Free, convincing Andy that they needed to do so to try and help Koss break the drugs and depression. To this day Paul mourns his great musical soulmate, Koss
