My guess is the grinder component is made of ceramic. That's pretty standard and what my daily use hand grinder is made of, so it should hold up over time.

Most likely ceramic, it's kinda either some metal, ceramic or plastic but I think you'd both feel and hear it being plastic because it can *not* handle coffee well from my experience

Honestly my first thought for this was for people with allergies! Often people who have allergies can’t get coffee either from shops or places that are unknown in terms of contamination status. Having a personal grinder with cups means that EVERYTHING can be uncontaminated. Most of the time anything such as a kettle that is used for hot water just uses hot water.

Not the best grinder, but worked well enough. Steel filter was ok. I preferred using it with paper filters. Small Hario V60 filters fitted great and made clean up so much easier. I have this big wooden box grinder from the early oughts that my Mom picked up while visiting Germany. This was before hand grinders were readily available in the states. It's cheap loose with way too much play, BUT I just sit down and put the wooden box between my legs and crank and it works really fast and I can touch up the adjustment as I go. More people that complain about how hard hand grinding is need to try it sitting down with the device between your legs.
That kit is really cute and a deal. The grinder even has a spring! I can only drink one cup a day so I am looking for the ideal way to do a loose coffee submerged in water type brew. Pour over just gets weak and acidy unless you have the ideal amounts. One cup doesn't work well with pour over. This makes me want to try brewing coffee one of my submerged tea brewing baskets: the open cup shaped kind you just dunk within your mug. I hate cleaning the french press. I wonder if you can dunk that filter in the cup while brewing.

I feel like the biggest issue with this is the possibility of a big difference in quality and reliability from unit to unit. I doubt the QC on these is incredibly thorough, so someone might end up getting one and seeing worse results due to manufacturing issues that vary between units, and the underpaid worker who was quality testing it understandably skipped or ignored any issues.

Tbh I can’t decide if I’m pro clock or not, it’s just so quirky 😅

How funny. I was literally trying to rummage the clock while watching this on my TV. Where would one purchase it?

The plastic looks like it was made from melted Playskool toys.. does the hot water create that yummy chemical taste that overpowers the senses and may or may not give you cancer?

Would it catch more fines from grinding if you rinsed the filter first so there was some water held by surface tension in the filter holes?

Experiment with recipes using a scale at home, taking note of the levels (volume). When you use it out in the field, eyeballing it should get you a decent cup of coffee.

What do you generally think about perm filter instead of paper on every day brewers?

I might take that for traveling, but not camping -- it seems too fiddly. I know I'd lose that retaining nut, for instance, and losing that one part defeats the whole purpose of the gadget. All around, I'll stick with my Aeropress and tiny grinder.

Did you wash that before using? I would, just to make sure there are no chemicals or dirt or anything in something I drink

Is there a more expensive version of this out there? Maybe something with Comandante level burrs inside? That would actually be kind of dope

Some people don't like the clock, as it tends to break the continuum of the video, due to editing.
I don't mind it, it is life after all.
