- Matty Johns has leapt to the defence of the six-again rule after some recent criticism from across the game, warning removing it will result in “30 penalties a game”.

It's like Rugby union the reff just blowing the whistle all the time. Sometimes the score is all penalties.... And too many tries of penalties in league!
Same in soccer and Aussie Rules... The Adelaide crows missed the finals last year. The AFL admitted they made a mistake. 🤷
For me its the consistency I see one team get a 6 again and then same game other team doesn't get it for the same infringement

One option is for the ref to yell out "6 again, offside" or "6 again, ruck". We'd know why, and the speed of the game won't be affected

@@danielkelly4487They're given out so inconsistently. You'll have one team get awarded a 6 again in one set. Then, the same infringement would occur in the other team's set. But no 6 again call happens. It happens all the time. It's a way to make it easier to manipulate outcomes in games.

Nup ya tripping Matty. The ref last night kept the game flowing quickly. I only saw 1 six again in the second half because a player pushed it way beyond the mark. The ref that reffed the rabbits/eels game. We need more like him

@danielkelly4487 they're not robots. There's a duty of care to the players. Love a fast game. The powers that be are more interested in the product. Way too many injuries now. 6 agains are akin too penalties. Ref's need to let the players decide the outcome. Not over refereeing.

I have a theory that the 6 again rule is a new ploy by the betting agencies to fix games. It reminds me alot of the NBA with the fouling. A handful of refs were found to have ties to organised crime. its typical that these media guys are pushing for it because v’landys introduced it. also find it convenient that v’landys is head of NSW horse racing, a sport that definitely isn’t corrupt.
Precisely. It's great to see a lot of people realising that the game is so manipulated. You can even hear it in the way the games are being commentated, too. The hints of manipulation.

The game is contrived there is no other sport that allows so much ref interference...The amount of sin bins. sent offs, injuries, It's gone beyond a joke. Also refs have forgotten how to count to 6.
It should just be an extra tackle, not an extra set but would be nice if they also said what the six again was for lol

The six agains played a massive part in the Blues first half of Origin II. I often can’t see why one minute this team cops a slap, but the other team does exactly the same thing a few minutes later and nothing happens.
It’s the inconsistency that drives me nuts.
Same thing with the Origin games. Joe Suaali gets sent off and four weeks suspension for his shoulder to the head of Reece Walsh and that’s fair enough, in game 2, at least two players did the same thing and the same Ref and bunker just give them a penalty and on report!!!
One player is lifted beyond horizontal in the tackle, which ALWAYS results in a sin-bin, but Latrell Mitchell is given a free pass!
I can’t believe that NOBODY from the Blues was sin-binned in Origin II. They certainly didn’t need any help from Ashley Cline to beat the Maroons! Mitchell collected Walsh with a shoulder to the head, off his feet and when Walsh was facing the other way and STILL didn’t get ten in the bin!
Steve Crichton shoulder to the head on DCE and barely gets a penalty!
The lack of consistency in that game was so bad that I believe Joe Suaali should get an apology from the NRL!

Matty's is entitled to his opinion even though it's completely wrong. 6 again was one of the worst introductions to the game. there was absolutely no need for it because they hand them out when they feel like it.

I detest 6 agains. Penalties worked for a 100 years, you can still use the bin if a team gives away too many penalties.
I also think the speed of the game is why we are seeing so many soft tissue injuries.
Get rid of 6 again rule and get rid of interchange and watch the injuries go down while opening up the game for the little guys to excite 👍

Seriously! Matty is the only person I know that likes the 6 again rule. It is absolutely diabolical how misused this 6 again rule has been used by officials.
