Village Beloveža is situated in the northeastern part of Slovakia. Jozef Marko comes from there - successful breeder of Flemish giant rabbit - the largest rabbit breed in the world. Thanks to its massive appearance also known as the King of breeding rabbits. Mr. Marko is owner of a construction company and his breeding hobby is dedicated since their twenties.
Jozef Marko´s warren provides rabbits with maximum comfort and peace. Available are both smaller and bigger hutches marked with respective categories codes, automatic dosage adjustment is also to be found there. Breeding material consists of forty females and eighteen males.
The history of this breed dates back to the 16th century in the Belgian province of Flanders. According to its origin it has been known as Flemish giant ever since.
Rabbits have a huge, long, cylindrical body covered with thick hair. Their advantage is a strong skeleton, which grows to a length of more than 70 cm and weights about eight kilograms. Ear length is about 22 cm.
Jozef Marko participates in home competition and abroad also. Thanks to this, he has friends in several European countries. These include Mr. Evald Kremer from Germany, Mr. Johan Wechselberger from Austria and Mr. Róbert Pieščok from Poland. Rabbits given to sell are most requested in Russia. His longtime friends are Mr. Sergej Strogim from Penza, Mr. Dmitrij Provalovim and Mr. Nikolaj Lazar from Chelyabinsk.
Preparing for exhibitions is a time consuming process as all stance, head, ears, body shape and hair are among the evaluated qualities. Selection of rabbits begins in late summer. During this period is important to take care of breeding. What is important is regular hygiene, combing and competitive position training. Equally feed quality. Breeder Jozef Marko feeds their rabbits with Mifuma feed, considered one of the best quality animal feed. Exhibition season runs from September to January. Rabbits have excellent hair in this period. One of the greatest success Jozef Marko achieved in France. In the Flemish giant rabbit category he achieved the title of European Champion in chinchilla color.
He also achieved great success in Slovakia in the last period. In its category won absolutely everything - club champion and champion. Jozef Marko’s rabbit has reached the maximum rating - 98 points.
