I do think using chakra you can alter the size and shape of the yata mirror to make it omni directional. When we first see itachi pull it out, it's smaller than his susano, but when orochimaru attacks him, it grows big enough to cover the entire front of the susano. Which means it can change size so you could reasonably deduce that it could alter its shape as well This would make its statements to counter any jutsu more consistent.
and for the weapon - samehada is a risky choice because of its sentience. it turned on Kisame. I think i would rather take Madara/Obitos war fan thing that just deflects things like a naruto super mini tailed beast bomb.

I think Obito had a better showing of taijutsu than Itachi ever did. especially seeing that he practically relies on taijutsu for his ability to be of any advantage to him. Obito fought kakashi, bee, guy and naruto at the same time..no fkn way pain or itachi are doing that. and i know you could argue that Obito was only able to do that due to his kamui BUT yall already gave this create-a-character Obitos kamui so.. again i dont understand the itachi/pain picks..pain ok but definitely a bit confused by the itachi pick, he was pretty evenly matched wit Kakashi and id even argue he was outsmarted by kakashi on both times they fought and he was also on par with 3 tomoe sasuke - ya again could argue he was holding back but in a narrative sense it doesnt make sense... if itachis primary goal was to force sasuke to expend enough chakra that orochimaru would come out , his secondary goal in that fight was to test sasukes abilities to make sure he could handle himself and you wouldnt be able to get a good enough idea of someones skill level if youre completely holding back - especially in taijutsu - especially when we have seen itachi break sasukes wrist and kick him down a hallway, into a wall and then choke him in the air when he was a kid..lol...like nah he def aint holding back the hands on sasuke as a pre-adult basically what was he like 17? but itachi beat the breaks off him when he was 12? . idk.. i just dont htink itachi is a good taijutsu choice because of his abilities he never really HAS to fight you when he can just look at you and you die i also want to disagree with whoever said that martial arts/taijutsu is the Uchihas THING ..uh no lol.. id say straight up martial arts/taijutsu is more of a Hyuga "thing"
No one is shown fighting much in the Akatsuki via taijutsu. Obito’s Kamui is why he performed well when engaging in close quarters combat not his taijutsu excluding against Kakashi where he was holding back anyways to get the seal removed on his heart. And yes Itachi was always holding back, very easy conclusion to come to when he’s literally undercover the entire series while alive lol.
Um yes…. Taijustu is a uchiha thing. Madara, sasuke, itachi, they excel in fighting with hand to hand combat😭 Their a genius elite clan, genius ninja normally have insane fighting skill.
Pains durability is irrelevant. He was basically a puppet being controlled. Nagato felt none of the pain dealt to Pain. It's not a true scale of durability.
