  • I've had this in my library for at least 15 years and haven't come across it on CZcams, and since the holidays are nearly upon us with some department stores already decorating for Christmas in September, I thought I'd share this rare BOL song!
Photos are promotional handouts from various online sources. Arranged in FCP/Apple Motion.

Book Of Love is one of my favorite groups, so ahead of their time.

One of the best examples of Susan Ottaviano's vocal style - "Westward leading, still proceeding"......
I've been playing this one every Christmas season for 20 years.
It really deserves more airplay in radio and TV

I heard it there too! It had been so long since I last listened to this song. I owe a lot of my musical reminders and rediscoveries to satellite radio.

I recorded this off the radio back in the day and that was the only way I had a copy of it

Thank you for sharing! I first heard this tune many years ago at an under 21 club in LA.

15th century lyrics + 20th century rhythm. Love it.

1857 the song/lyrics were written. Why 15th century?

Thanks! Never knew this existed, and I have what some consider a huge Christmas library. Absolutely going to be a standard for me for years to come. Amazing tune by a very under appreciated band.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!! This is my favorite version of my favorite Christmas carol and I was beginning to think that I had imagined the damned thing. I hadn't heard this song in 25 years but I've looked for it forever. I'll gladly pay you for a copy of this mailed to me. Hahaha! And I'm serious. Email me and we can work out the details.

Thanks! Been trying to find this since about 1991. I last remember hearing it as a promo on WHFS 99.1 Bethesda, MD. Now if someone would someday upload The Odds' version of Little Town of Bethlehem!

Thanks for uploading! An old girlfriend made me a mix tape (remember those?) with this song on it and I was just thinking about it today.

Super hard to find. Only pressed on a limited edition red vinyl LP with a Christmas green cover (not the one with Santa's face on it!) that includes lots of other 80s bands (Erasure - Silent Night, etc.). Check out Yulesville by various artists on Discogs for more details.
