Teslacam Stories is a series of Tesla owners' real experiences told by the Tesla Dashcam and Sentry Mode videos. All incidents are recorded from Tesla vehicles and submitted to this channel by other Tesla enthusiasts. I contact each person who sends me their videos to talk with them and learn more about their story and to follow up on what happened after what we see on their video. Voice-over and captions are added to describe what happened, and why. I believe that this additional information regarding the incident gives the videos a newsworthy value.
From the footage and additional information, a viewer can learn the consequences of bad driving and can educate his/her self with better driving safety. This process also gives the videos a great educational value. It is my desire to add my own unique and creative value in a transformative way to ensure you enjoy and learn from the videos being presented.

And other car clearly has his left turn signal on.

Wrong way? It was a legal passing zone. But I will say that passing two cars at once is a really dumb move.

I truly cannot imagine the parents reaction to this brand new car being totaled before 50 miles. That's absolutely wild. I'm sure that kid learned a very expensive lesson that day.
That kid would pay me back for the entire cost of that car. The parents might have responsibility though, who knows?
This should also be a lesson for the parents to be buying their kid a car they could barley handle. Give them a crappy 80s corolla. They want a specific car? They should work for it.
@@EnhancedTrashBin Not that the model 3 has too much power, it is the kid who is a new driver thinks he is an expert at driving.
@@tommydong8070 common sense, no one can hold back the urge when so much power is just right there. especially young people, a lot of motorcycle death happens like this.
Considering they bought a kid a M3P, I kind of doubt they care too much. If they can buy a brand new $50k car for their son, money doesn't seem to be much of an issue.

#1 clip: this is not the kind of father son bonding time that you want to leave on your son's memory.
But it will be remembered...
I'd disagree. If the father got messed up, that son may probably be the best BMW driver ever, never speeding, slowing down in the rain and way down in snow, and always driving defensively. May even go as far as discovering how to use the turn signals.
I don't know, maybe the son will learn from dad's mistake and be less reckless in traffic. My parents were pretty good, but they set some really bad examples in a few areas. Now that I'm an adult, I've avoided those same mistakes because I saw how poorly it turned out for them.
@@TheHumanNacho "best bmw driver" said noone ever. They don't even know where is the turn signal switch lol 🤣
nah you sound lame. i wish my dad was still able to drive bc i would totally want to do this kind of stuff with him with my sports car. however, there is a time and place to street race
Jett should have his license revoked for speeding into the wrong lane of traffic and trying to justify it.
Agreed Jett is another terrible Tesla driver.
Yeah that was incredibly dangerous. The other driver is lucky to have noticed him in their mirrors before turning any further...
Can’t fix stupid
And poor cat/dog in the crate 😅
I am a retired commercial driver and I can tell you it ain't just Florida or Texas or California that has idiots behind the wheel. THEY ARE EVERYWHERRE........ I'd love to have a dash cam, those are pretty nice video quality. Love the Wham Baam videos. Keep 'em coming!
I used an old cellphone for mine, Samsung Galaxy Lite. The picture/video is good enough to read license plates of passing vehicles. I used an app that recorded in short blocks to make editing easier and everything was saved onto a Micro SD Card.
Everywhere indeed especially big cities
Denver has had a major construction boom in the last 7 years, and it's attractive alot of drivers from out of state with non complaint equipment ( semi with end dumps), no cdl, no dot number, no insurance , no registration and with no Motor carrier enforcement inside the city, they are able break the law with no repercussion
Florida has many many drivers from NY and Northeastern states. Just because they are driving in Florida at the moment, doesn't make them "Florida drivers".
These videos are what happens when you think a car needs 9000 cameras
Not only Jett was stupid enough to pass two cars well over 80, he was stupid enough to actually upload the footage
And the turning car had its blinker on well before he passed it. Jett is a muppet.
Jett wanted 9 different cameras to try to find the pov that doesn’t make him look like he’s at fault. It didn’t work 😂😂😂
The truck was at fault it was driving too slow, they stated that. Slow drivers cause people to drive recklessly to get around them. It's like calling someone who kills someone else in self defense a murderer.
@@Cruor34slow drivers don’t “cause” anyone to drive recklessly. The reckless driver chooses to drive recklessly. Comparing this to killing in self defense is absolutely idiotic.
@@angelhodges9916 If you are going 40 mph on a 65 mph road, you are a causing people to go around you which is dangerous. You really think he should of just sat behind the truck and dealt with it? Slow drivers cause a lot of accidents because of their driving.
First clip: I don't see any evidence that the son was racing, just the dad. The son was going a little faster than the other traffic, but not enough to consider it racing. He knew better than to do that on a busy street - unlike the dad. Hope the dad is okay physically. And hope he learned a valuable lesson that he needs to grow up and be responsible.
Yea they definitely weren't racing , the Z4 was just showing off but didn't realize there was a bus that's it
correct and no way 65mph
Was also a 2 series
Dad wasnt even necessarily showing off, very well may have been just taking advantage of an opening in traffic to get ahead because he knew where they were going and his son didn't. Who know, only thing that is blatantly obvious is they were not racing and the title is clickbait.
The dad drives a Z4, I don't think there's any hope for intelligence or learning.
Jett was 100% in the wrong when approaching the second car. He had ample time to merge back behind the car second car to double check if it's safe to overtake the second car.
not only that but even considering his speed, the turnign car had his blinkers on for a sizeable distance, its not like he just turned them on last second
@@aflalaflalafla3255 Exactly. This is the reason why I think it should be mandatory to pass an Advanced Safety Driving course BEFORE you are allowed to drive alone. Also, the driving schools (especially where I live) should take students out on highways more. Rather than just around town
this is why its against the law to pass 2 vehicles without merging back into your lane
No, its actually law that you cannot make a turn if unsafe. That includes traffic from behind that is passing.
@@matbeedotcom So any time someone makes a turn across traffic they have to yield to (impatient) drivers coming from BEHIND them? This makes no sense at all. I am happy to learn though, so I would be grateful if you could provide a link to the law or statute to which you are referring.
10:10 Never, ever, ever pass two cars in one go.
To add to that, never, ever, attempt to pass someone when approaching an intersection.
Poppycock
While what this dude did was reckless and dangerous and nearly cost him and his mother their lives... there are situations (different to this) where you have to pass multiple slow moving vehicles in one go. Not uncommon in NZ, so long as you have a clear straight unobstructed view and there are no intersections and you watch for blined exits, etc.
@@MeppyMan ..... Situations being.... Where there are multiple slow moving vehicles that are close to one another where cutting between them could also be seen as unsafe? Still utterly stupid to do, but so long as said cars aren't ACTIVELY slowing down as if to show that a car ahead is turning, not ENTIRELY unreasonable, but you're still an asshole to do it. But there is never.... EVER a situation where you should pass one car and then be like "eeeh, that car 75 feet ahead also appears to be driving slowly, let's speed up and pass them too". Passing on a two lane road is something that should be done carefully and cautiously.
@@theElemDragon I agree with the last part. But if you are on a long clear straight in the country and you have a lot of cars close together going slow and none are passing (maybe all together) then sometimes it’s the only option (not always that many dedicated passing lanes in NZ. Very different roads).
I’m not saying it’s the safest. You have to be on the look out for anyone pulling out to pass (but you should always check mirrors before you do).
What the boy in the video did was just stupid. I agree.
What an example that father is setting for his son. Horrible parenting

Jett was definitely at fault.
he could’ve just travelled with that vehicle too like I get the truck was going slow but he could’ve at least went a few feet away so he could go someway faster but not get close..
Jett was supposed to get back in his traffic lane after passing the white pickup. At the time of the crash, he was driving the wrong way down the road.
Jett is a maniac driver
8:01 that's why it's recommended to look both ways when emerging from a side road.
I have several theories about why driving in Florida is so awful. There are a fair number of defensive drivers, but it's entirely possible to get a Florida DL without going through a formal Drivers Ed course. Many Florida drivers look like they're doing NASCAR wish fulfillment. Throw in the worst types of aggressive driving from New York, New Jersey, Chicago, and you've got a volatile combination, particularly around Miami or Olando.
I’m from Florida and the New Yorkers are definitely the problem. Can’t take people who’ve only used public transit to get around and put them in a place where you have to drive to get somewhere.

Can't believe this is the first comment I see pointing it out. Ain't no way it wasn't at least a 50/50 fault
So on the tractor trailer, there is "MTZ009" on the front bumper. Quarries and asphalt plants use this identifier for account purposes. When the truck is filled or emptied at the business, the scale operator or office clerk use this identifier, usually as the truck is going across the scale. A clean truck like that is very new and maybe only in service about a week.
I thought that was probably one of the cleanest trucks I had ever seen. Didn't occur to me that it might be new. Perhaps being delivered to its new owner?
@@richardward8578 would still have to have trip permit/ or dealer tag visible, and since it had the ID tag on the bumper it should have also had all the other decals before being used.
Not like the trucks just show up unannounced, if the company had the ID numbers ready for it, they should have had the decals.
Chances are it's a private owner personal use rig. (Still needs plates or tags though.
Maybe self driving.
A truck or any vehicle with no tags is probably doing something illegal. So he was probably illegally dumping something in the trailer.
If the truck is for personal use and (not for hire) then No DOT# required.

7:51 is kinda interesting. Technically the submitter should have stopped to check for traffic when merging from a side street onto a main road, but the Honda was on the wrong side of the road.
In Germany the Tesla would be at fault, as the right of way apply to the whole street. And this makes kind of sense, because if there is space to overtake on the main road you allowed to do this. If the Honda was speeding, there might be a split...
8:10 wait what, he is literally driving on the priority road overtaking. the dashcamer literally has to give way. or atleast 90% of the countries do it the proper way.
I didn't see a yield sign. in the EU you can't overtake at a junction unless you're on a priority road, so this might be the reason why civic was found liable
I somewhat agree that it’s the Tesla drivers fault at least partly, you should always check both ways are clear for this exact reason
@@corl4147 The tesla appears to be in a parking lot before entering a street. In most countries, the ACTUAL street has priority over any parking lot unless there is specific signage or a traffic light.
@@austin5856 very good observation, you are probably right. if that rectangular sign indicates a parking lot (we can only see the back side unfortunately), then I don't see why the Tesla was found not liable.
@@corl4147 It doesn’t matter what the 2 rectangular signs (left and right of the parking lot entrance/exit) actually have on them. It is obvious that the Tesla was in a parking lot based on the fact that the street is running parallel to the section of the parking lot immediately to the right, before the Tesla entered the roadway. There are no lines on the driving surface other than parking spaces, and there was a solid/dashed yellow line on the actual street indicating that the Honda was in a legal passing zone (assuming it means the same thing in Canada as in the US).
The only thing that could have contributed to the Honda being at fault (for a reasonable person) was the speed.
I would love to have one of those cameras! I live in Texas and was told by an insurance agent once that 40% of the driver's in Texas are uninsured. And a lot of them think they are participating in Nascar.

May have had an arrestee in the car, could have been on the way to a call, could have been on the way to court, could have been maintenance personnel taking the car on a road test etc. So many different reasons, if you have 10 calls pending you're not wasting 10-15 minutes on a minor traffic offense. 8:16 which is wrong. the cammer has to yield when pulling onto the road and the Honda had the right of way even when overtaking
Eeeeeeh ... Not EXACTLY true. Not sure where this took place (though I can't imagine this being the same just about everywhere), but at least here in PA, passing a car within 100 feet of an intersection, without some sort of traffic control device allowing it, is illegal. Probably for this exact reason.
@@theElemDragon cammer was pulling out from a parking lot. Cammer has to yield here and is at fault
8:00 - No way was that honda driver found solely at fault. The cam vehicle failed to yield entirely - i.e. they were entering the roadway and turning into traffic, even if it was passing traffic, where a simple look to the right would have prevented the entire problem. Sure, the honda may have been passing on a solid line (there isn't much line at all, no way to tell if it was solid or not), but still retain right of way as they were through traffic with no traffic control (stop sign/light) whereas the turning car did have a stop (even if no sign was posted, entering the roadway from a non-road surface or intersecting alley/service road is a tacit stop and yield situation). 50/50 at best, 80/20 on the tesla at worst.
Yep, you always need to "clear the turn" before preceding to avoid accidents like these.
Well... I couldn't find anything about it really as far as Canada laws go, but at least here in Pennsylvania, it's illegal to pass within 100 feet of an intersection unless a traffic control device allows it. Only thing I could find with Canada laws was that you could get an unsafe lane change fine if you change lanes in an intersection.
@@theElemDragon Yes, the pass was certainly illegal -- but the onus is on all drivers to avoid a collision, and it is required when turning to check that the lane you are tuning into is clear. So amzarnacht is correct; the Tesla in that clip was partly at fault; as much as 50%.
@@theElemDragon Judging from the roadway I don't think it was an actual intersection, I believe it may have been a parking lot or driveway. It looked like a commercial zone.
In the US it is also generally illegal in most, if not all, places to change lanes within 100ft of a traffic controlled intersection (with lights, typically).
Does a solid line mean you can't pass? Yes and the Honda driver was at fault because they made an illegal pass. But you're saying that the Honda driver retains the "right of way". So in that logic, you're saying if a vehicle travelling in the opposite directions should yeild to their pass? Ok.....
I've been using a VIOFO cam for a few years now, and couldn't be happier.

Tesla owners should be required to pay a significant insurance premium. The cost of repairs is insane. I’m tired of footing that bill by having my premiums go up as a result of all these exorbitant repair costs.
Teslas aren't the reason your premiums are so high. You could be a bad driver, bad credit score, had an accident in the past. Not only that, all newer cars are more expensive to repair.
@@XsaviXander explain to me why premiums are going up across the country, even for those of us where none of those scenarios apply….
I bought the Viofo A129 duo because of your review/comparison.
I finally bought a Viofi A119 v3 after watching too much WHAM BAAM, can’t wait to install it. People drive like maniacs here in Quebec
Imagine thinking there was enough time and space before that bus LMAO That wasn’t even close. My man was feeling himself in his bimmer and lost all judgment
"The Tesla cam shows the teenager clearly getting out of the 3 Series"... but then you cut that clip off literally a second or two before that happens, just as the door is opening... Great job.
Great compilation👏💯👍
Holy moly, super shocked to see #6 was in my area!! I use that road all the time.
Good job ! Thank you from France.
That's pretty cool about VIOFO sending some cams, I have one and I put one in my mother's truck, they're great
Look forward to your videos every week even though I don't have my own Tesla yet.
Gave you a like for putting the title video first, and not bury it somewhere down the line.
These videos make it apparent that penalties for hit-and-run are far too lenient. Run and it should, at minimum, be a felony with mandatory prison time.
Awesome video keep up the good work job
People who drive Tesla's think they are gods gift to driving.
Outstanding job. The best
6:00 Not in jurisdiction, the cop car is for Miami Beach, not Miami. They are two different municipalities
