That's true
deadass bro
Zuko wasn't really a protagonist for a majority of the seasons though.
HA! Is funny because is true
I watched ATLA when I was a fairly young kid and I perfectly remembered the timeline. But as a teenager I struggled to remember the legend of Korra timeline. Realizing now after watching this video the reason I couldn’t remember this timeline was because the LOK changed villains, plots and goals each season. ATLA had a more simple goal that lasted the entire show (learn all four elements then defeat the fire lord to restore balance). I kinda miss that simplicity
I can remember the whole entire timeline even if Korra had different villains.
It really isn't hard, like at all I can remember both perfectly and watched them both for the first time at 12-13
Which time line? XD
___ ___ one is great and the other sucks, can you guess which one is which?
@@incognitoblack8661 None of them sucks. Korra just has her own story which I'm glad it's different compared to Aang.

I like Korra, but I miss the culture and clothes from TLA, it feels like 600 years later and almost nothing is the same to the old places and cities...
Ron Jans That’s what happened to the real world. That’s industrial revolution for you.
So what. TLOK isn’t ATLA. And ATLA isn’t TLOK.
Compare the world between 1850 and 1920. Culture and tech did change abt that much in that time. If anything it’s kinda weird that things stagnated so much in previous avatars lifetimes. however, I guess it makes sense considering the 4 nations being completely separate except when at war
Yes, not even the animals.
Also Republic City looks and feels too American for this show.
The cultures and locations of TLA were incredible! And we just saw one of them in Korra. Also the spirit world in Korra is not as mysterious as in the previous show, here is weirder. I mean, the spirit world was always weird but the spirits on the first show were intriguing and felt like deities, and some were even scary.
In Korra the spirits are more weird but not as intriguing and mysterious as the ATLA ones. They look like Pokemons, some of them look like toys.
I'll never forget that spirit with a poker face. They were random and funny, but the spirits of ATLA had a dangerous and mysterious charm to them
No it is good during the industrial revolution you had the same thing going from 15th century futilism to a full industrial nation and as a reminder the fire nation was already in the industrial revolution
Say what you will about the Legend of Korra, but you can't deny that its soundtrack and animation are absolutely stunning
I love the soundtrack when Korra faced Zaheer. It was amazing and intense with beautiful animation.

I like LOK but i wanted season4 of ATLA. ALSO STILL MAD THAT THEY DIDNT LET UNCLE IROH AND ZUKO REUNITE IN THE SPIRITS WORLD
He probably did off-screen, just didn't have a point to show it in LOK because Zuko is just a minor character lol
There are comics that are a direct continuation of ATLA. They tie up all the loose ends, so it's essentially season 4, but in a different medium.
@@TechnoPup
He was still a main character in ATLA. As was Iroh (not so much in book 3, but moreso in book 1 and 2)
Plus, we all want more Iroh moments. They could have spared a few seconds to at least show them meeting, even if it had no audio, just to see their faces.
@@superkamiguru6856 Zuko being a main character in ATLA has nothing to do with Legend of Korra though, that's the point I was making lol
Sure, it would've been cool, but it wasn't necessary.

I like the series but I'm sadden that's it's too short. Also I'm still waiting for the next avatar. Which means it's a earth bender avatar.
Not to mention, if technology contiues at the same rate, by the time of the next avatar, it's plausable that some nations will be experimenting with sending things into orbit, or potentially to the moon. Which begs the question, would a waterbender be more powerful the closer to the moon they are? Or could an airbender be used to counter the vacuum of space? Or would an earthbender be able to bend the moon's surface. If that's the case, they'd be the only benders that wouldn't need to bring their element from earth.
Or fire
Would dig a 70s-80s setting....
Not gonna happen till like 2050
@@dylanffhhhjj7262 its a cycle Fire - Air - Water - Earth so its now Earth
I liked LOK however I HATE and I mean HATE that after season 2 Korra no longer had a connection to the previous avatars.
Did you even watch book three the best book?
@@mr.kingofphenomenal4629 she still didn't have the connection to the hundreds of previous avatars though. Basically once she reincarnates that new avatar is just gonna have Korra
@@sharinganinja16 The new avatar will have Korra but it doesn't mean it's a bad thing. Korra so far has changed the world and has a better connection to Ravaa then past lives had. Korra makes it up by having bigger Ravaa who back at her prime. With avatar spirit being stronger the stronger the avatar is in avatar state meaning Korra has more raw power compared to other avatar which is shown at end of book four where Korra displayed the power of a nuke bending physical energy. The second cycle going to be stronger compared to the first cycle.
@@mr.kingofphenomenal4629 Personally I could care less if Korra is stronger or not. I'm just upset they essentially " killed off " a whole lineage of characters.

@Grumpy Man For anyone who somehow hasn't seen the show yet, SPOILER ALERT!
Worst thing to happen to Korra? I don't know, but could it be that she lost her bending, or that she got manipulated into not trusting her own father or Tenzin resulting in Vaatu being set free by Unalaq. Then losing all connection to previous Avatar life's? Or where Zaheer almost kills her and throws the entire Earth Kingdom in disarray after he got airbending because of her decisions. Being poisened which resullted in her not being able to walk for 6 months and only really fully recovering after 3 years. Then letting a dictatorship take over Earth Kingdom territory?
It's not like Korra got an easy ride, she suffered from severe PTSD in season 4, and the show did an amazing job in portraying it. It's not the same as with Aang where he has to deal with the genocide of his people. Also Korra literally was being tortured to death by Zaheer.
@Grumpy Man Dude, what are you on about, the length she got tortured isn't factor. It doesn't matter that it might have only been for 1 minute, you can get PTSD from a car crash, being tortured, and like you say from war.
Also it's kind of sick of you to compare how each person deals with PTSD since it's personal. If you just want to hate on the show then do that but don't bring in bs arguments that don't have any substance.
Grumpy Man I mean they both got their moments, like we literally have seen the earth queen have her breath taken from her lungs and seen her die due to her not being able to breathe

this show seems incredibly confusing compared to TLA
It has a more complex plot but not by much. The show is still beating up villains who do things wrong, it’s just the villains are more developed than evil bad fire lord Ozai.
Every villain is Azula levels of complex.
@@Gamelover254 Not all villains need to be more complex imo, and definitely since ATLA already had Zuko and Azula being the complex villains where Ozai was just the end goal
@@Gamelover254 Far from it.
It's really not that hard, just develop your reading comprehension skills and you'll be fine.

The strongest man in the avatar series is the cabbage man
I mean he started out as a merchant to the CEO well his son did but I mean c'mon from selling cabbages to cabbage corp that has to be impressive
That is impressive
Earth. Fire. Air. Water. When I was a boy, my father, Avatar Aang, told me the story of how he and his friends heroically ended the Hundred Year War. Avatar Aang and Fire Lord Zuko transformed the Fire Nation colonies into the United Republic of Nations, a society where benders and nonbenders from all over the world could live and thrive together in peace and harmony. They named the capital of this great land Republic City. Avatar Aang accomplished many remarkable things in his life, but sadly, his time in this world came to an end. And like the cycle of the seasons, the cycle of the Avatar began anew.
Then everything change when the METAL LADY ATTACKED!!!!! When we needed the Melonlord the most she vanish.
@@mr.kingofphenomenal4629 lol
Is this in the actual show. It's been years since I've watched the show. If it's not, really good job!
U have time to write all this
Carrotman Mcgee Yes it’s the very first thing you hear from the show. The season 1 episode 1 opening
I get that TLOK is nowhere near as good as ATLA, but I still enjoyed its uniqueness. I just wish they had more storylines involving Aang and the gang, the chance to see Zuko, Katara, and Toph reunite, etc. But I still enjoyed the series
Mr. Seafood i totally agree I feel this is more of a non canon universe with weak nostalgia. I never watched tlok but I feel the show could’ve been way better
@@xxdarthpredatorxx8901 xX DarthPredator Xx how can you say that if you never watched the series? In my opinion I find The Legend of Korra to be better than The Last Airbender, mostly because of the villains who are much more in depth than firelord Ozai. I also think that this show doesn't need "nostalgia". A lot of people can't accept that LoK doesn't have to be like ATLA and I think watching the show would help.
PGdDonut I’d say that. LoK is still a fun, engaging storyline. It changes up what happened back in TLA (for better or for worse) but still has fun out of it. I enjoyed it when it came out, and I still do to this day.
Saame
PGdDonut I agree I feel like everyone wants TLOK to be like ATLA and can’t just accept it as something new and evolving
So Ang finds out that he’s the avatar by choosing toys but Korra finds out by bending all of the elements as a toddler????
You know what is funny, the previous avatars never learned to do that when they were a toddler. It sounds like hollywood turned evil before Avatar Kora came out. I don't mind the Avatar being a girl, but when they decided that she is more powerful then the previous Avatars, that is just bad writing.
Seth Houser I have no idea why you mentioned the avatar being a girl...who had an issue with that? The avatar has been a girl many many times. But yeah bad writing. If I’m not mistaken it took the other avatars years, DECADES to master all four elements. I mean Roku was 28 when he mastered all four elements. Even asking aang to do it in less than a year drove him insane due to the stress. I don’t know why they made her some kind of wizard toddler
@@Denturess - Because there are some people with thin skin in this world that go crazy about a show, they probably do or do not watch, thinking people do not like it because the main character is a girl. That is why I mentioned it.
@@cainabel6356 that's ridiculous and those people are by far the minority. in today's day and age you almost expect new protagonists to be female lol it's such an overplayed trope now
@@Denturess
Plus Aang didn't truly master the four elements as he didn't know Lightning Bending or Metal Bending like those who fully mastered the elements may.
At the end, I believe Toph and Katara truly were masters, compared to Aang who had to learn 4 elements in the span of time they learned 1.
Edit: Added the second sentence and removed Blood Bending as apart of Lightning and Metal as Blood Bending seems more discrete and not as available.
Nickelodeon: you can't show Jet dying on a kids' show!
ATLA: ok
ATLOK: can we show the earth queen being suffocated to death
Nickelodeon: oh sure that's cool
@G.O Ortiz no show should show dead children ever.
Last Airbender also didn't really show Combustion Man's death in much detail, even though he wasn't a kid.
Legend of Korra got shunted off Cartoon network's TV station onto their website partway through Season 3 where they didn't have as strict of conditions and could get away with slightly more mature content.
Eric Nash so that makes sense why S3 is best
Nickelodeon: you can show a person being suffocated to death
LOK: can we add a kiss between korra and asami?
Nickelodeon: nah thats too adultish
bc its for the teens who watched atlas as kids :)
I still say Toph's two daughters seem to represent two different types of earth that is known in the Avatar world: Lynn being the sturdy and tough boulders that are hard to break through but when you do it can become something more useful, and Suyin being more like sand, more free moving and can change it's form easier than a boulder, thus why she was able to change her life around and able to incorporate dancing to metal and earth bending instead of the usual tough and sturdy like a boulder type of earth bending, and yet has it's use especially when working with other elements (in Suyin's case working with other people)
Ashleigh Stratmann Who did Toph have kids with though?
@@m.c.martin only su's dad was talked about. In an episode bolin asks toph and she said her dads name is Kanto. That is all that's known tho
brandonptf actually Kanto was Lin’s dad.
Excuse for not remembering or looking up the names, but the most metal death in the series, is when tge flying man's girlfriend, aka boom boom lady, explodes her own skull, when her attack is cut short by an iron mask wrapping around her head. And bonus, there's actual metal involved.

Korra is a new show, not atla, telling the story of a different avatar
DaBootifulMustache Queen you juss don’t like it cus it’s different. It ain’t bad

Princess Azula lol
ZakaKing that’s what I’m saying
It would be super interesting to see an animated show depicting what happend in between The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra because of how different things are after the 100 year war.
The Comics: allow me to introduce myself.
Bruh they are now doing a movie about that
You forgot to mention the part where Korra lost her connection to all her past lives PERMANENTLY which was one of the things I hated most about LoK. If there had been more of Korra going to Aang for guidance the same way he went to Roku, I would’ve enjoyed it so much more.
How did she lose it?
I also hate that the Avatar is not its own being. It took an ancient spirit to create the Avatar. They should have never done that to the Avatar.
@@Ryan-gi8cb - The ancient spirit that created the Avatar was pulled out of Kora when Koe bonded with a evil water bender to create his own Avatar. Then that evil avatar killed that spirit and it killed off the line of Avatars. So, Kora somehow created or some othe spirit create her own avatar state. I forgot some of it, that is how bad I did not like it.
@@cainabel6356 wow that sucks. So Aang, Roku.. Everyone is just gone. Yeah, I haven't even watched it and i don't like that lol.
@Kayden Wadley oh. Well alright then. Horror this Netflix adaptation does the show justice
As far as threats and villains go, I feel like the order of the seasons should have gone 1, 4, 3, 2.
Yah that does make sense but anarchy mostly creates dictators.
Chronologically it makes sense though
Same! I was just saying this
I have to disagree. Kuvira, in season 4, only came to power because of the Queen's demise in Season 3 to Zaheer, who gained air bending due to the Harmonic converegence, which was Season 2. You literally can't put Season 3 before Season 2 because of the connection to the Harmonic Convergence and Air Bending not being there, and Season 4 can't be before Season 3 because the queen wouldn't be dead to Zaheer.
@@firelight3207 that's why I said chronologically the show makes sense, besides that dealing with ptsd at the time was the primary reason Korra was in such a predicament.
personally I love the whole story of Avatar Wan and Rava and Vatu. When that section started I was blown away, I loved the subtle animation style change and just how mystical and bizarre it was. I always wanted to know an origin to the Avatars and that delivered it amazingly.
I would have loved it if it had actually stuck to the established rules and nature of the avatar universe set in the first series.
The story about Avatar Wan, Ravu and Vatu are the only fun things from LOK tbh
Aka Light Gaia and Dark Gaia from Sonic Unleashed🤔
I think it kinda ruins the mystery and wonder of bending, even though it was still cool
*Also Wan is an absolute idiot*
Jin J isn’t that where Aang randomly got energy bending (from a lion turtle)
I think I can speak for everyone when I say that all we really want is the OG gang to be reunited like imagine Zuko and Katara seeing each other again. I would cry
i agree we should have had a small on screen moment with zuko, katara, and toph meeting agian. mabye have a spirit world scene where zuko sees iroh agian. hard to include aang and saka since their gone, saka in the after life and aang being removed from the avatar line due to the whole spirit thing in season 2.
off screen tho, i imagine zuko did meet up with katara every now and then for a cup of tea and to reminisce, he was always the type to keep in touch with his close firends. (at least how i see him being) but i can see a nasty lecture from katara to toph about her "up and disappearing on them" like she did.
What I like about Korra is that she has all of the mentioned past lives Avatars’ traits
Aang: Fun
Roku: Determined
Kyoshi: Bisexual and Aggressive
Kuruk: Good with relationships
Yangchen: Does whatever it takes to gain peace
Wan: Troublemaker but Generous

The most useful summary I've ever seen. Saved me 500 hours of life.
Wait . So it went from 4 types of bending to like 56 types of bending
Actually there's still only 4 types (5 if you count Energy-bending), there's just more sub-types now.
Examples: Blood-bending, Spirit-bending and Ice-bending fall under the Water-bending. Combustion-bending and Lightning are sub-types of Fire-bending. Flight and Astral-projection are forms of Air-bending. Metal-bending, Sand-bending and Lava-bending are sub-types of Earth-bending.
@@TehvtremOST And Spirit-bending (what Unalaq used to change Dark Spirits to Light Spirits) is a sub-type of good ol Water-bending as well. Same! Finally someone in this comment section who thinks the two shows are equal
I wonder if the earth queen ever intended to use the airbenders to conquer the United Republic of Nations since she considered it still a part of the Earth Kingdoms
She probably was that why she wanted to recruit any air bender to form an army.
I just had a thought.
In Avatar: The Last Airbender, in particular during Aang's lifetime (not so much during Korra's), travel seems to be somewhat limited, and with the exception of the occasional pirate, PoW, occupying colonialist army, or secret brotherhood, the world seems to remain mostly segregated, with each nation retaining very distinct cultural identities.
In Book Two: Episode 13, there's even a reference to the existence of other languages. General Sung jokingly explains that the city is called "Ba Sing Se" which means "impenetrable city", and not "Na Sing Se" which means "penetrable city."
So why does everyone everywhere in this world speak a common language without even the slightest hint of an acknowledgement that Team Avatar (or any other travelers) don't speak the local language, or speak Common with a non-local dialect?
For those unaware, chi-blocking was first seen in "The Chase" from Last Airbender, where Ty Lee used precise nerve attacks to stop Katara from Waterbending temporarily.

Yakone did not try to blood bend Tarrlok, he simply yelled at him and went towards him to hit him. Yakone couldnt blood bend at the time since he already lost his bending.
This was such an obvious thing, since its mentioned earlier in the video. Amazed it wasnt caught.
I feel like the makers of "Avatar: The Last Airbender" realized that most of their original viewers had grown up and made "The Legend of Korra" darker and more intense to recognize old viewers as well as welcome new ones. I like that they did this, unlike some shows that will make their the content after their original content less mature to cater to the new instead of the old AND new.
There really wasn't anything in Korra darker than the genocide of an entire people and an 100 year war
@@julianfletcher1912 So what about the avatar getting poisoned and almost dying? Then suffering PTSD after. Or the airbenders getting trained as slaves for the Earth Queen? How fast does this world advance its like they went from late 1700 to the 1920s
I would think with bending magic, it would not progress so much. A lot, if not all had powers. Technology would not advance so much with that kind of power bein in it.
Metal bending
Buddy, the industrial revolution legit exists in real life. 70 years is a long time, especially in a world with bending. They already had advanced tanks in atla, it should be far from a surprise that a world which had development halted during the 100 years of the war would go through a rapid change to more modern technology. Metal bending is also highly prevalent in the new world. It’s really not a surprise if you think about it.
In fact, the show would be badly inaccurate if it was still so traditional 70 years after atla. It’s accurate world building
Well if you look at our industrial revolution, it lasted from roughly 1850 to 1920. (70 years.) also, you gotta consider the fact these people can bend the elements to their will so many steps were skipped.
Well the fire nation did have war tanks in the original series.

The only issue would be which continuity they would do, although probably the one that includes the original series.
exstream sauce yes but only the original
didnt know how much i wanted this until now
Yaaaaaaassss
I love this show so much. It needed to be longer
"There is nothing like Korra"

Channel Frederator.....
DO THE THING!!!
It's a crime glossing over the wedding of Verick and Ju Lin (I don't count that as romantic b plot. Since their relationship is very important to season 4 and is part of the reason she "betrayed" him)
@@Stargazer_Ley Zhu Li is her name I think
when ever someone says LOK was trash, it makes me so mad I love both Aang and Korra, but lets be real, Aang had it way easier.Korra lives in a more modern world and with a modern world comes a complex one, where there are laws, and ethnic beliefs, and independents states etc.Aang was for the most part able to do whatever he wanted go where he wanted with little reprecussion, Korra on the other hand has to abide to the law and reffer to certain individuals before carrying out her duty as the avatar, while at the same time fighting enemies way more intimidating and complex than in ATLA.The way I see it LOK was more focused on highlighting the aspects of being the avatar in a realistic world, with themes and ideas that were actually thought provoking, I had more instances of feeling scared for Korra and the fate of the world more than I did for Aang.Which is fine, because Aang was only a child when he had to take on his task of being the avatar, if youd have put him in the situation korra was in, he would have broke physically, mentally and psychologically. In conclusion, both shows are great and unique in their own way, but the key thing to take way is that THEY ARE DIFFERNT, and that even though Aand and Korra are both the avatar, THEY ARE TWO DIFFERENT PEOPLE.
Korra was 19 and spoiled rotten just because she was the Avatar.
While Aang was 12 and felt the responsibility of being the Avatar and in return had his entire culture hunted to extinction.
Aang is better that's just no doubt.
@@quincy9908 That was season 1 through early season 2, she stopped being spoiled after that
@@quincy9908 she still had it harder he/she has a point

SPARKS ARE FLYING Y'ALL (19:28)
that, arguably, is my favorite line in this video xD
Zaheer is probably the best villain in the entire series
Great video!
Ya know I just started re watching this series again and now this comes out coincidence I think not
Well it's supposedly said that our devices record our voices so they can recommend you ads that have some relevance to you. 😂
Have you heard of E;R?
@@howdydoody6057 Yeah this happened a bunch of times to me so I'm abit scared
But hey what importance do I have to the FBI
As someone that has never watched LOK, it was bloody difficult to keep up with the story from time to time. It just doesn't have that simplicity as TLA, were the end goal is to defeat the firelord and restore peace. Each season of LOK felt like a completely new story, and so many different characters were mentioned.
It's actually easy to understand if u actually watch it. This video is super fast (not that there's something wrong with fast recap videos)
The Avatar series is just jammed packed with action and raises my interest in elemental manipulation
Don't lie you're gonna watch the avatar timeline after this
How did you know i was gonna do that??
Should have already seen it if watching this...
No I went and watched it before
Zo Bell I’ve watched it already
Nah not really
It's been an eternity finally heres the video
I love that you mention Codex Alera, cause this book series deserves a lot more attention in my opinion, just finished them the second time :D
Did anybody else notice the face that Asami made when she met Mako and Bolin’s grandmother. She was like “GET ME OUT OF HERE”! 19:35.
See this show can’t work where technology is improved immensely
That’s how it was in the real world
@@tangerineturtles9551 - The Avatar is not in the real world. This should not go the way as our world works. They have bending magical powers. If anything technology should be less incentive.
Seth Houser if anything bending would have sped up the growth of technology, think about it they have an extra resource that allows them to do more, fire benders could burn coal, lightning benders work at power plants, like how would bending slow down technology
@@tangerineturtles9551 - I doubt it. Bending would have slowed it down, because of the power they have to do everything with their bending. It is like if Harry Potter's world only was filled with wizards, there would be no need for technology. It was only the muggles that progressed the world.
The only way for progression is the need for it. If you have only benders that all they need to do was bend, then there would be no need for progress for technology. That is why there is a small amount of non-benders that would only want to progress through technology, but would not hit that sort of level as in TLOK.
Seth Houser how does bending replace the need for technology like you use water bending in place of a radio, and technically you can use fire bending in place of light but what about a family of nonbenders? What about a family of nonbemders in general? They could have made these technologies for them but then realized they could give it to the whole world, and in Harry Potter if they were all wizards it would make a little more sense since you can do all kinds of stuff with magic but also not all of them are benders. Your argument is weak, periodt 💅
When the first avatar is so op it changes the art style
Ty for this
Earned a sub just for mentioning Jim Butcher
My ranking do the seasons
1.Best is S3
2.S4 is 2nd best
3.S1 decent
4.S2 eh
AAAAAAH THANK YOU GUYS SO MUCH FOR DOING MY FAVORITE SHOW OF ALL TIME. GOD I LOVE KORRA
The scene where Tarlok blows up the boat. I don't know what it is about it, but it's just so much
I recently rewatched ATLA and seeing how aang and katara have kids, naming one after aang's childhood friend makes me emotional... like how sweet😭😭 even seeing how we get updates on the orginal characters, is emotion as well. I really gotta watch legend of Korra even if I gotta pay for it. If anyone reads this, where's the best place to watch?
kissanime .ru, plus interesting ads :)
Just realized the effort to harness the power in spirit vines was a metaphor for the atomic bomb. Trippy.
Season 1 was the best season by far. It was so good

Great job
The box Tarlok trapped Korra in was never said to be platinum. Korra didn't know metalbending at the time, so the metal didn't matter.
It was platinum though
@@TheShadowfist45 I watched that episode multiple times. It was never said to be platinum.
@@alwaysanewinterest No, but it's obvious from the shading and color it is, compare the box to the mech Kuvira uses in season 4.
i thought it was iron
Although I appreciate the time and effort put into this, am I the only one that thinks that he actually failed to mention a whole bunch of things in the timeline?
what about Kainora?
Still, wish they'd make some sort of continuation of the series.
Really glad that they brought some of the OG team avatar back in Legend of Korra.
Such a wonderful series
Man I love this show
You never mentioned anything about Sokka.

He only had a small clip in lok sadly
Neither did LoK unfortunately
