The Lab LA is Mixmag and WAV's weekly live stream and post-work unwind.
Boreta, Ooah and edIT make up the trio known as The Glitch Mob, a group revered for pioneering the bass-meets-rock music sound that rumbles out of the West Coast of the U.S. and also for their innovative and cutting-edge methods of combining technology and music throughout their career. The trio arrive in The Lab LA just ahead of the arrival of their "spiritual cyborg odyssey" third studio album, 'See Without Eyes'. Created from 25 sonic sketches made out in Joshua Tree, California, 'See Without Eyes' serves as the group's newest aural chapter, and will arrive on May 4 on Glass Air. @Playstation 3.50 Glitch Mob was hung up for years. They got burnt out. Then they came back with a different sound that's more appealing to them but it's not the stompers we used to hear from them back 10-14 years ago. Classic case of burnout taking down something amazing, mental health diets are real!

I've been lucky enough to have seen them three times live now. I adore how passionate they all are for the music. The Glitch Mob wouldn't be The Glitch Mob without all three of them. 🤘 edIT, Boreta, and Ooah are similar enough to be able to make beautiful masterpieces as one, but they each bring their own special style to the table. Love them. Also, Josh has an always will be a total babeasaurus. 😂🖤
I remember when there were 4 members of TGM, way back in the beginning. It was Kraddy O' Daddy, no idea if he's still making music. The music was different back then, after he left it became the mastery we know it as today. Still love the old stuff, but man has the music evolved to a whole new level.

Alexandre Martini they do this was there dj set. But when they go on their tour it’s completely different, they play there blade 2.0.
@@aledmb They playing music for these posers who don't give a shit about their music or even seem like they enjoy it. So of course they won't play it entirely live. In their concerts they recreate the songs exactly like the studio version live with all the instruments from the Blade 2.0 machine they custom built.

Love the music, Glitch Mob is awesome. I'm a little disappointed this was more of a DJ performance as opposed to playing live. To me, that was a key thing that set the glitch mob apart from other electronic music artists. They can actually play live, but not in this video from what i saw. Still cool, just play live next time!!! 🙂
you can tell from the music that they werent merely playing tracks. Just less fancy equipment and lights ;)
They were doing a little bit of playing. Those devices you see with the grids on them are Ableton Pushes. They serve as a very complex midi controller and track sequencer as long as you have a track running in Ableton Live somewhere on the computer you have the Push connected to. Knowing how to use a Push effectively in a performance is quite the challenge to say the least. Not quite as flashy as shredding it on a synth though I will agree.
They also probably couldn't fit The Blade in that little room ;)

It's really cool stuff (I mean it) but can someone please explain to me what the thing is with three blokes on a stage playing back essentially pre-produced stuff which can also be played back without interference in interaction with a person? I mean, all the stuff I heard so far can be or even is automated midi.
Please don't get me wrong, I really love this music and the great vibe it gives off to the audience - but just a minute ago this question came to me like thunder on a sunny day ;-)
There's no difference. DJ's these days are "dance jockeys". I like the music, but I don't dig them acting like they're turning knobs and pressing buttons.
