    One reason for going to the base model is if you are planning to buy at some point the Nuki Opener which requires the bridge (which is a big bummer) I wish the pro could also be used as a bridge for the Nuki opener

    Strange, with our Nuki 3.0 Pro we're using already Remote support and integration with Home Assistant. This was already possible since Nuki 1.0 with the External Bluetooth to Wireless adapter. From this 1.0 Android was already fully operational.
    Be aware with the Powerpack included, these are bad batteries. The one that came with mine 1,5 year ago, it couldn't hold for even 1 month. Luckily I still had the 1.0 battery adapter and continue to use my 4x Panasonic Eneloop Pro batteries, which can last for about 4 months!

    You're so fast! I learned about the 4.0 through you. Do you think the Matter support will help with reliability over Wi-Fi? If it was ever a problem in the first place.

    • @MarksTechVlogs
      @MarksTechVlogs  Před 9 měsíci

      I’ve been using the Nuki 3 with the bridge and not had any issues…I don’t think Matter will impact WiFi reliability either way though

    Nice video Mark, I’m thinking of taking the plunge with the 4 pro, talking about the lack of Apple homekey at present, would a work around be to put a self adhesive NFC tag on the outside of the door and map it through the shortcuts app to open the lock when it’s closed but scanning your iPhone?

    • @MarksTechVlogs
      @MarksTechVlogs  Před 7 měsíci +1

      Hi James, I think that work around would work. I’ve not tried it though

    I really miss Apple HomeKey in Nuki Smartlock 4.0. I’d like them to issue a statement if they are going to add it as a software update to 4.0 or release a 5.0 with this functionality.

    • @MarksTechVlogs
      @MarksTechVlogs  Před 9 měsíci

      Yeah, I think it’s a shame they haven’t officially said anything beyond it being something they’re trying to get working…I’d imagine it’s more of an issue with Apple’s requirements than anything else but would be nice if they can work it out

      The 3 Pro is the same price as the 4.0 Pro so if you're starting from scratch I'd buy the 4.0 Pro as the price is the same and it's the newer model. If you use code REFY4TF2PZJER via Nuki's site shop.nuki.io/en/ you'll get 10% off too

    I know the Verge article says there is a fee for remote access over thread on the standard lock but it also says "Pansy says the locks will launch with Matter 1.1 and be upgraded to Matter 1.2 in early 2024. This will enable remote access for free on the standard version (...)". Doesn't that mean that at some point next year, remote access will be free for the standard lock as well?

    • @MarksTechVlogs
      @MarksTechVlogs  Před 9 měsíci

      I’m not sure, it sounds like any update to the base 4.0 that results in remote access will need that fee paying. As I said in the video though it basically creates very little reason for buying the 4 and not the 4 Pro so I wouldn’t be surprised if they back-tracked on the upgrade fee eventually!

    • @agl10
      @agl10 Před 9 měsíci

      @@MarksTechVlogs Well that's it, I don't believe that's the case. They can't just lock out a user from accessing the lock remotely if it is indeed matter over thread compatible. Remote access would be handled by the border router, such as the Apple TV via HomeKit. What I believe is the remote feature might be locked from within the Nuki app but as the devices get updated to fully support Matter, we should be able to get the full function for free. Otherwise it's not matter over thread compatible as the product page suggests.

    • @MarksTechVlogs

      Unless Nuki are talking about charging for the Matter 1.2 upgrade? Which would be crazy…especially if the Pro just gets the upgrade

    Hi Mark. Thx for 10% discount code! Do you know if smart cylinder is included with Nuki 4.0 in the box or do I have to purchase it separately? Thx

    • @MarksTechVlogs
      @MarksTechVlogs  Před 9 měsíci +2

      There’s no cylinder included, just the Nuki but you may not need a new cylinder.
      If your current cylinder is a thumb turn one or can be open from the outside whilst a key is in the inside then you don’t need a new one. Nuki do sell their own cylinder but it’s £75…you can get a thumb turn Yale one for around £15 and Nuki do adapters for the thumb turn locks for free

    • @Mieszko84
      @Mieszko84 Před 9 měsíci

      @@MarksTechVlogs Thx for the quick reply. I don't have the right cylinder then, as my door cannot be opened when the key is inserted from the inside. Are those adapters included in the box or do I have to request it from Nuki to be sent out to me? Could you also help me with the model number for this Yale cylinder? My door is 65mm thick.

    • @MarksTechVlogs

      @@Mieszko84 You have to order them separately here: shop.nuki.io/en-gb/spare-parts/nuki-adapter/ - to find out which cylinder you need you'll need to remove your existing one to see what size it is...typically they have a length between the outside and middle section and length between inside and middle section. • @dreworld32

    I have the Nuki 3.0 and the battery lasted 1 week. I spoke to Nuki Support and they told me that it was the wifi's fault. They gave me a Bridge and now it lasts me 1 month. that's all. Is it still a wifi problem? If I want it to work with Matter, do I have to download 4.0???

    • @MarksTechVlogs
      @MarksTechVlogs  Před 8 měsíci +1

      That's weird...what's your Wifi setup? My Nuki 3.0 with the Bridge lasted about 8 months on one battery set!
      To get it to work with Matter you'll need to buy the Nuki 4.0...although if you're an Apple user you won't really notice any difference with HomeKit vs Matter

    If I have homepod or apple tv 4k, will I be able to open the lock from outside my home? Does it makes the wifi module redundant for me?

    • @MarksTechVlogs
      @MarksTechVlogs  Před 9 měsíci +1

      If you’re outside your home and within Bluetooth range you can open it anyway regardless of WiFi
      If you have a HomePod of AppleTV you’ll have out of home access regardless of where you are via the Apple Home app (not the Nuki app)
      If you have the Nuki 3 or 4 Pro with the built in WiFi or the 3 or 4 with the Nuki Bridge then out of home access will apply in both the Apple Home app and Nuki app
      Hope that helps 😀

      @@MarksTechVlogs Thanks! I was referring to when I'm at work for example. So what is the "upgrade" they offer in 39euros? Is that what you meant by "remote access"? Is it needed also when using Apple home app when i'm far from home?

    • @MarksTechVlogs
      @MarksTechVlogs  Před 9 měsíci

      The upgrade to the base model 4 that they will charge for will be to enable out of home with Matter over Thread…at the moment all they have said is this:
      * Remote access without Bridge will be made available to you as a firmware update in 2024. This will require a compatible hub. You can get your hands on your brand new Smart Lock right now. We will inform you as soon as the update is available
      My assumption would be that it would bring out of home access via the Nuki app alongside the Apple Home app but it’s not confirmed

      @@MarksTechVlogs Thanks for the replay (-:
      Sorry, i'm not familiar with the terms. So that means the "out of home" support using Homekit(homepod as base) IS currently supported without the FW update? Or is it the same as matter over threads?
      Basically my question is: If I have an homepod/appleTV, will I be able to lock/unlock from work without the FW update using Nuki 4(not pro)?
