    As someone who lived in CO -- Breckenfridge is great for beginners despite what it says in video ..the blues at breck are greens at most of the other CO resorts.. In particular peak 7 has its own lift - its basically all blues but to call them "blue" is a stretch. Theyr're basically greens. A novice can spend the whole day there lapping without getting lost with very little consequences as thats what I did when I was learning to ride..... Fun town as well but gets very busy and wind closures are real with the gondola .>> There's a reason locals call it "breckenfridge". Its cold , windy and sometimes awesome...

    • @PeakRankings
      @PeakRankings  Před rokem +19

      Thanks for the feedback! Ultimately agreed that many of Peak 7's blues are on the easier side compared to nearby mountains such as Copper, Keystone, and Arapahoe Basin, and are more comparably rated to blues on the East Coast.
      That said, the beginners in our group found themselves struggling on the Peak 7 terrain due to a few sections with modest pitches. It's possible they didn't end up on the easiest runs, but we would hesitate to recommend this zone to anyone below "advanced beginner" proficiency.

      @blarbkanopcious4243 Před rokem +6

      @@nylla6161 What!? I disagree completely!! Breckinridge is okay at best for beginners! Loveland, Copper Mountain, and Winter Park are all FAR better!!
      Breckinridge has a couple of greens at the bottom served by lifts that are either slow or have long lines, or both. And the only non-base lap-able lift for beginners is the old, slow A-chair, that doesn’t even have the benefits of being slow because the runs are still crowded, right in the middle of peak 9.
      Loveland, Copper, and Winter Park all have low, flat areas for first-timers, and they also have higher, more secluded, prettier, and more fun areas still with the perfect pitches for beginners.
      Breckinridge has a relatively small amount of lap-able beginner terrain, and NOTHING higher on the mountain. There are multiple other ski areas very close by, and elsewhere in Colorado, that have MORE AND BETTER beginner terrain!!!!!!!!!

    upper breck is insanely amazing for the experts ... the rest of the mountain is a family friendly vibe without very steep pitches or long runs . the upper mountain is heaven on a powder day ... the T bar is lit

    • @AlanLamb11
      @AlanLamb11 Před rokem +1

      @@Phil-oy2mr Most people fall at the start getting on the t-bar tand I have to admit I've fallen a couple times on my board but even when it is stoming (awesome pow) the t-bar line is humongous because all the expert skiers congregate there, especially when it first opens the line can easily be 45 minutes for 2-3 hours because the t-bar can only lift 1000 people per hour IF everything goes perfectly and since most snowboarders ride solo and 1/20 people fall, the actual lift capacity is more like 600 per hour compared to even an old 2 chair like the Chair 6 lift to Imperial which has a lift capacity of 1200 per hour and is a shorter lift ride.

    I love Breck! The bowls are just great but I love the Windows trails. Expert only: Steep, tight glades, crossing small streams; it's just a breath of fresh air in there, especially solo or with a buddy. You can't slow down in there as there are no places really to move over so if it's crowded wait a bit, you'll love it! And it's usually no big deal but getting acclimated to the thinner air is something you might want to think about, especially for people over 40. The base sits at 9600 ft with 13000 ft. at the summit. Thanks for posting this! Good job hitting Breckenridge's highlights.

It is a real shame what Vail Resorts has done to the park skiing there. Ha ha, Chair 6 being on Peak 8 was never confusing until they opened Peak 6. All the lifts on 8 used to be numbered, and those on 9 were letters. So you can tell which ones are so old they were there when Breck was only those 2 peaks. The 6 chair is slow, yeah, but It's usually a good option on peak days. I like to do a lap up the Super-connector, to 6, to Imperial, and then come down Lake Chutes, back bowls, and the Bone Yard, and then catch the Superconnector at the mid load. It's a great long vertical, and usually you can avoid the too many crowds. Everyone heads up to Imperial, but the singles line usually moves quick. Maybe 10% do the hike but it's so worth it.

    I've had a pass at Breck for more than 25 years, and i work for the resort part time. Nice to see the positives, but I wish you would be more careful in your edit & narration. You switched from talking about E and 6 chair to runs off the Super Connect, and then showed Tom's Baby (E-Chair) at 4:16. Altitude sickness is a real consideration, even at the base, but what do you mean by "Those not used to the elevation will find themselves struggling to exhibit energy here" (6:55). Good advice to "drink plenty of water", but even better if you acclimatize to altitude by sleeping at higher altitude before trying to ski at 9600 feet. It would have been good to include altitude data to illustrate the differences. Chair 6 is on Peak 8 because it was the sixth chair added during the development of the mountain, not to confuse guests (Rip's Ride was also '5 Chair'; but it should be replaced by opening day). I really don't understand your 'Rating' numbers; guests should pick a ski area for the character of the runs. No one goes to A-basin or Crested Butte for "Terrain Diversity" (they are given low numbers in your 'ranking' table at 13:40), you go to ski some good s__. Fortunately, I didn't see any of my favorite runs in your video.

    I took my family to Keystone last year. I'm a beginner skier and my family has never skied before. I thought Keystone was a family-friendly resort, which they are - but I made the mistake of believing that also meant it was beginner friendly - not really. I was planning a trip to Breck this year based on some reviews of the lower part of peak 9 with the idea of graduating up if we could manage it. Keystone has an excellent bunny slope area but the jump from bunny slope to an actual green is pretty significant. If Breck isn't good for beginners - where is?

    Better summary than I could have managed even though I've skied Breck probably 15-20 times a year for the past decade. For locals- Breck is easier to park and saves an hour or more round-trip from going to Vail or Beaver Creek as well on good pow days only A-Basin, Vail or MaryJane 'might' be better on the I70 corridor but only Vail is also on Epic.
    For people visitng from out of state Breck is worth it if you want varied terrain for the whole family but note that it is usually 2-4 degrees colder and the base evevation is about 1,000 feet higher than Vail or Beaver Creek but comparable to Copper. The truly high mountains in CO are A-Basin and Loveland with base elevations close to 11,000 so many people can get altitude headaches even in the parking lot.
