OMG, you guys are a hoot! Thanks for the tips and sharing the frustration the rest of us feel but are too lazy to make a video to complain about our shortcomings! What a great idea to pedal your hearts away to spread the dye! I'm gonna try that too!

Here in NW Florida, most people modify the paddle boats by adding a trolling motor.
I wish we could've seen where that pipe went in/out and also see how water gets into the pond. You can do a series of rip rap, native rock mosses, native wet weather plants, and clumps of rivercane that will usually keep mucky water clearer when entering the pond (if it is a true drainage pond).
To compound things, the lack of shoreline vegetation means all runoff goes straight into the pond.
The trees and lack of shoreline vegetation is very disconcerting. Trees on the dam and at the shoreline makes for holes and cracks in the substrate which will cause water to leak out. The trees have already done irreparable damage...like porcupine to a balloon type of damage.
I hope to see updates on the progress of the pond.

Ran across the site. If you have any grass carp in the pond with a muck bottom U will never keep it clear. They root in the ponds muck looking for veg and whatever they eat and stir the mud up . Two 5 lb carp will is all it will take if your pond is less than 15 feet deep. They are ok for ponds with a lot of veg growing in it but a pain if ya just have a mud or leaf filled bottom. Good luck with the project.

I think we have decided we are just going to build another pond all out. We have about a billion trees to cut down but after that we'll start digging it out. We are super excited about it and we'll be (trying) to record it all and show the progress.

You guys are great. Maybe this could be turned into a natural pond. All it takes is a pump and you create a small stream with plants that filters all the nutrients out of the water. Lots of info about it on youtube

Hi guys. I enjoyed watching you guys.
Just found you today. Watched your first pond video because I have a muddy pond as well. I'm trying to make it pretty without killing the fish and other critters in it in the process. I'd love to see what you have done with it and if it looks clear now.

We have some life issues come up so we haven't been working on any new videos. I'll see if we can get a pond update video out soon.

@@cannonfarm Awe, thank you for taking the time to respond even while dealing with issues. I pray everything will be well for you!

So a couple of things…The trees on the damn are bad…real bad…The reason why is because the root systems will go down and cause holes in your dam which will cause leaks….Once you cut them down the root systems will rot and that will cause even more holes….Unfortunately you are probably looking at doing a dam rebuild which is EXPENSIVE and can involve bringing in clay depending on the land makeup there. The muck away can be marginally helpful…Good Luck!!

Yeah, we know all the trees on the dam is very bad news. We want to eventually cut all them down but we have a lot of work to do. the long-term plan is to get the trees off the dam. Also this pond is going to be a backup water supply for a new pond. We have decided to not try and fix this pond.

Growing grass and other vegetation around the pond banks will help filter out the mud and filter run off water. The blue dye only creates a worst problem. It blocks sunlight which kills off your water vegetation which deters the production of plankton that feeds your minnows which in turn feed your larger fish. Everyone I know who have dyed their ponds now have to feed their fish. Pond dyes were meant for fountains and amusement parks. You will never have a successful fishery with dyed water.

BTW, I think you are correct. I think the dye hurt the pond.
