- Lomochrome Purple is quickly becoming one of my favourite colour films to shoot, I love how much it alters reality and gives me a different view of the world around me. It's a great tool to keep on hand, I sometimes find myself stuck in creative ruts, and this film can help bring me out of my funk. How do you like this film? Great set of images - Love the cow portrait at 6:05! I’ve shot Lomochrome Purple in 35 at ISO 320 and really liked the results - still need to try it in 120.

Great shots, Jess!!! Purple lends itself really well to the countryside there. You have lots of really nice barns and farms in those gorgeous fields. Where I live, the countryside out of town isn't all that great and farms are few and far between. Very dry, even though it's in the tropics. To see anything decent, it's a long drive to anywhere worthwhile and at present, I'm stuck locally. I don't feel urban shots and purple would mix all that well, at least not here. I may give it a go, but I'll have to be very picky what I do shoot. Where it might work well is getting a pano from the top of Castle Hill, which is a 1000 foot high hill/mountain in the middle of town. Get great views from up there, but I'll have to get myself a pano film camera!!!

That's an awesome and funky film stock. And you certainly made good use of it with your choice of subject matter and compositions. That reminds me of the colour infrared slide film I shot years ago (that was discontinued long ago.) It had to be loaded in the dark. I shot one roll with a yellow filter and it made vegetation turn pink. With that film stock long gone, I might look into getting a roll of Lomochrome Purple as a kind of substitute.

Just found your channel after hearing you on Analog Podcast. I enjoy your videos, artsy, entertaining and very informative. Good job. I shoot digital for my product shots, but fell in love all over again with a Nikon F2 I picked up for $25 including a 50mm 1.4 lens. This was my dream camera when I was in high school. (I'm a bit older than you).

I love your enthusiasm and your passion. You inspire me. Thanks. BTW...just picked up a Yashica 635 TLR. Never knew they existed. Shoots 120 and 35mm with an adapter. How crazy (and wonderful) is that. Haven't used it yet.

Wonderful images and cinematography. I worked with some of this film this summer as an alternative to colour infrared ... I still prefer the infrared, but this offers some interesting colour compositions. There is no way to share a few of my images here, perhaps you've seen some on IG. I've noticed that lomo-purple really shines with green vegetation.
I have seen them on IG and in some Facebook groups too! I really love your colour infrared shots, I wish I could have gotten some of that film before the prices went super high! Oh well, I'll keep shooting with Lomo Purple for now, I do really enjoy this film, and I am really excited to keep experimenting with it! Thanks for watching, Bob!

Stunning set of shots. Really loved the shot at 4:50, but those cows!
I have used it, but only in 135 format. I found it surprisingly grainy, admittedly pushed one stop.
Speaking to my local lab (not quite having the skill set to tackle colour dev) they suggest that it has a 200 base, the range - 100-400 suggests that it will stand to be pulled or pushed one stop either side. Hence shooting at 400 effectively pushes it a stop thus increasing contrast and colour shift.
I will have to get my hands on some 120 and run some through my 67. It will be interesting to compare the grain betwixt the two.
I hate to be that guy, but pushing and pulling happen during the development and what you're describing is just under- and overexposure.
@@Verdoux007 assuming a base 200iso, then if shot at 400iso and developed as 200iso, then yes, under exposure. If shot at 400iso and developed as a 400iso then pushed.
It is confusing when they put an ISO range on the film.
This was so much fun Jess! I have 2 rolls ready to process E6 to see how weird and wild this stock can get! I'll keep you posted! Just love your videos so so much!

I bought my first few rolls of Purple last year after becoming enamored with Aerochrome. It's definitely not the same, but I enjoy it as a once in a purple moon kind of thing. I follow Lomo's recommendation of shooting at 100 for more pink, or 400 for more deep purple especially in the shadows. I found that I had to change my scan technique though to get a more accurate color balance. My most recent use was at a sunflower field, which yielded some quite otherworldly scenes of what we expect to be yellow and green.
Scanning Lomo Purple is definitely a bit different than usual colour film! I'm going to play around more with the sliding ISO scale, I'd like to see how much I like the paler pinkier effects in some of my stuff. Thanks for watching, Matt!
Great images! Only shot purple twice, loves light in dull overcast conditions it just looks ugly. Love the cows and that barn (itching for a 4x5 shot).
Big jump in image quality with Lomochrome Purple when you go to Medium Format from 35mm.
When you climbed over that railing I yelled “omg where’s she going!” LOL I’m afraid of bridges. But anyway I love these shots Jess. I’ve only shot one roll of Purple and the lab ruined it. I’ll have to try it again
I've thought about using some color filters with Lomochrome Purple. Might make for some interesting results.

I usually shoot it at ISO 160. The 35mm version is too grainy at ISO 400 35mm, I think. But the 120 version looked really nice here! I also think the new emulsion is quite a bit better than the old one. Haven't tried it yet, but I've got some rolls in the fridge.
I've never actually shot it in 35mm, but I could see it being grainier at ISO 400. I am planning on experimenting a lot more with this film in 2021, so I'll definitely try it out at ISO 160! Thanks for watching!

I just ordered Lomochrome purple and metropolis last week! Do I need to give my lab special instructions/tell them what ISO I shot it at? I'm newish to film and films with ISO ranges have been a bit confusing to me. Loved the cow shots!

Love all the work for film that Lomography does. However, these strange, gimmicky films just don't turn me on. The beauty about art is that everyone has a different perception. Loved the video if not the film.
