  • Ok so everyone always asks me about Pods. Thier purpose is to help raise the transom to draft in less water. Basically run in shallows! In order to get the full effect, you really need to combine pods with a tunnel hull, and a jackplate on the outboard. Whatever you do make sure you get a professional to "WELD" them on. Incorrect installation can be brutal on performance and the overall ride!
    Thanks for watching. I have a few new videos dropping this week, and Im going to keep them coming!

    (((UPDATE))) THE CUSTOMER SENT ME THIS TEXT TODAY!!! #TINCANKILLER
    👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇
    "Dude... absolute perfection in all categories.
    No leaks from install.
    No water splash over the transom, not even a drop at w.o.t.
    No crazy slight pull compared to others.
    Run rpm's up to 6200, smooth as silk.
    Stable as can be. I jumped up and down on rear bench, waterline didnt even move all.
    Those angle L's actually performed their job, channeled that lil' bit of intermediate water right on out.
    Right weld method of installation, The right factory pods made specifically for boat and most importantly The right person with the right skill set putting it all together!!
    I cant thank you enough for turning this around. Thanks again."

    I got backwater pods welded onto my boat. Their customer service was great. Came with simple concise instructions. Super solid grab handles and drain plugs. Keeps my tail out of the water on rough big water so I don't get swamped.

    The beavertail pods are garbage we make custom pods out here in Utah. They should also angle up slightly. Great job bro doing it the right way

  • @durbeshpatel3047
    @durbeshpatel3047 Před 5 měsíci +1

    I had Beavertail small pods welded on a 1448 landau mod v hull by a local (he was excellent, worked for space X). He followed the instructions, and I couldn't be happier. Boat rides soooo much better, easier plane, and same 30mph top speed with 25hp 2 stroke yamaha. Only noticeable difference besides all the benefits is turning is slightly slippery/harder at high speeds, but ever so slightly.

    So probably a dumb question but here goes if you welded a heavy plate across the pods and built a Jack plate on the back of them would that give you a tunnel hull and allow you to run in less water or would it just F everything up

    • @TRICKEDTINS
      @TRICKEDTINS  Před 8 měsíci +1

      Idk. I think it would need to gradually slope for a tunnel.

    Hey man, love your channel. Question for ya, if someone wanted to have you build a custom tin deep v boat, do they sell just raw shells or do I have to buy the whole kit and kaboodle?

    • @TRICKEDTINS
      @TRICKEDTINS  Před rokem

      Im sure you can purchase just a hull. You'll have to reach out to the manufacturer and special order. SeaArk makes some nice deep v boats.

    • @TRICKEDTINS
      @TRICKEDTINS  Před 8 měsíci

      Yes. Its all about buoyancy and wieght distribution

  • @stevethefishingsanta7771

    What is the real reasoning for the pods? I have a pontoon boat that is 15 ft long with a 40 horse Mercury and I think the motor is too heavy was thinking about adding one foot to each toon.

    • @TRICKEDTINS
      @TRICKEDTINS  Před rokem +2

      To add buoyancy to the back of the boat. Main goal is to run in shallows!

    • @gunfisher4661
      @gunfisher4661 Před rokem

      The motor is the right size for the toon the issue is these days they are making the pontoons smaller diameter and there fore less weight capacity, It would be just as or easier to add the third pontoon in the middle as a few people are doing now days the benefit far out ways adding length to the pontoons. you can take an old pontoon and customize it to fit or buy a new one as the industry is all ready offering tri toon boats all ready.

  • @Unjustified_Bot

    Why didn’t you use a few pieces of angles to close the gaps? Tack them on the hull and the pod and bring them together with a clamp?

    • @TRICKEDTINS
      @TRICKEDTINS  Před rokem +1

      Why would i do that if i could just fill it with one pass? Adding an angle adds 2 more passes???

    • @Unjustified_Bot
      @Unjustified_Bot Před rokem

      @@TRICKEDTINS if you add an angle “iron” to one, then to the other, clamp the angles with a clamp, close the gap, tack, remove the tacked angles, finish the pass? You might need several angles, but it would only require one good pass and there would eventually be no gap and no warps. Basically - angles, clamp, tack, remove angles, angles, clamp, tack, remove angles, repeat until there’s no gaps and then weld complete.

  • @coryboyd7958
    @coryboyd7958 Před 3 měsíci

    Couple of things,
    1. Could you push from the inside of the boat to close that gap you were talking about?
    2. Its been my experience thats its best if they are mounted half each in and up from the edges?
    3. Whats the cost?

    • @TRICKEDTINS
      @TRICKEDTINS  Před 3 měsíci

      $450 to weld on if the transom is in good shape.

      @TRICKEDTINS thanks. I have a one year old lowe roughneck 1660. Great boat but sits a little low in the back. A 40hp merc, me(215lbs) 6 gallons of fuel and 2 batteries weighs it down pretty good. I'd have you do mine but I'm in Ft Myers Florida. Thank you for your quick response.

    • @kencleg7721
      @kencleg7721 Před 7 měsíci

      ? Pods are for shallow or heavy motors he could probably do a 90 or 115 on the back and still set 4-6 “ of draft so I’d say 100-150 per pod ? Just a guess

  • @kevind4021
    @kevind4021 Před 4 měsíci

    No need to weld those 16 holes prior to adding the pods. Add the pods by tacking from inside the hull through the holes. Then run a bead around the entirety of the pods like you normally would. In theory that even strong than what you did because you have 16 extra welds. Not that it was necessary but would have saved time.

    • @TRICKEDTINS
      @TRICKEDTINS  Před 4 měsíci +1

      You know how much harder it would've been to weld those holes upside down leaning over the boat. I see your thought process but it aint worth all that effort. Those pods will still be on that boat when im dead and gone.

  • @georgekantstandu4501
    @georgekantstandu4501 Před 9 měsíci

    I fabricated some pods and put them flush to the bottom this created to much lift , so that the motor would captivate unless weight(passenger) would be brought to the back (tiller drive)

    • @TRICKEDTINS
      @TRICKEDTINS  Před 9 měsíci

      Pods are tricky. Wieght distribution is critical.

    • @georgekantstandu4501
      @georgekantstandu4501 Před 6 měsíci

      Did the same thing, should have had the pods about 1 inch off the bottom, to much lift and captivates unless more weight in back
