I came here after seeing the full length movie , I’m glad this story was able to expand and more people will be able to hear . Would’ve been dope to see the original cast on big screens but Sterling and Regina give another life to the characters that also show well. I appreciate you all
I really found soo many similarities in these real churches with the movie!!! I know the “church folk” won’t like this one but I’ve been to the Eddie long churches and the creflo dollar churches and THIS IS THEM!!! Sorry not sorry!!

Not me stumbling on this short film today after learning there is a movie version in 2022. Regina Hall bodied the 1st Lady role😍🔥🔥. Love the cast👌🏾. Issa is a gem✨👸🏿
VERY DEEP. The portrayal of the fakeness and sex scandals is SPOT ON. Those complaining have to realize that things like this DO EXIST IN THE CHURCH and are still going on. People are just too scared to call it out.
That is why I laughed throughout the movie. It was a very accurate portrayal of some of those mega church prosperity preachers.
I hope the original cast is able to benefit from this becoming a full length movie.
That's the thing with religion, it talks about forgiveness and turning the other cheek. People are made to feel that the trials are god sent and for a reason. People believe they are just suppose to endure it. So many people get taken advantage of

It was dope being apart of this film! Thankful to have been giving the opportunity to take on the role as "Maurice West" - I appreciate Issa for featuring this amazing film put together by filmmakers: Writer/Director Adamma Ebo, and Producer Adanne Ebo! Hopefully there's more to come...

Congratulations are in order all around to the cast and crew that told this story. After seeing the feature-length version I chose to come back and see the short film that made it possible. Hope to see more stories by Adamma and Adanne Ebo soon.
Watched the feature film in theater today and now the short film is in my suggestions that night. I had no idea a short film came first.
It's great so much of the script/story stayed the same.
We all know who this story is about. This would be a great time for the Black church to begin to discuss, to confess, and to make whole years of wrong!

That was a great short film. I wasn’t sure where it was going, but I like the twist. I didn’t expect the gender of the person that was assaulted to be a male. And to see his likeness as Pastor’s Jesus. That was wild!!!!! With this being a comedic film, it was well balanced with serious metaphors. The wife as a mime was brilliant!!!!!

How I see the First Lady as a mime and not liking them because of the aspect of trying to hide behind a mask and sticking to the illusion instead of reality. She tried her best to be a great First Lady for her husband but then became tired of hiding behind the lie. She wiped off the mask because she finally came to terms with reality. I really want to know the meaning of the gum though 🤔 I'll assume it's representing the gunk/mess they created and find themselves walking into and it's hard to get out of it.
i think the gum was to make her stop and realize how she must look even tho she cant see herself

Or even the first lady being stuck in her marriage. Maybe, she's wants to leave, but cant because of how she may be viewed or not wanting to be alone. Even when both try to run from it, they still have to face that demon in their marriage and the embarrassment. And the pastor being stuck in a bad perception/light of how others view him now, as perverted and ungodly. His past will still assassinate his character/caliber to his past congregation/neighborhood. Just my 2 cent. Not sure if I'm right or not...

There's so much to love about the origins of this short film 🎥. But what cracked me all the way up for the cinematic feature was Sterling K Brown and Regina Hall knowing ALL the lyrics to knuck if you buck as Pastors. 😆😆😆
This has and is still going on in the church. Attendance in churches are declining due to the fact that people are not falling for the okie doke. I think of New Birth Ministries w/late Pastor Bishop Eddie Long when watching this. I am a Christian and I believe in the word of God. Having a consistent relationship w/Him is imperative and living a life set a part for His purpose is a sacrifice that some still do not understand. No one is perfect, but in God's strength we are and the Holy Spirit corrects. America has been left to its own devices and look at the direction we are going in. There is a higher power and a bigger picture. Let's tap into it. (Selah) Issa Rae I would like to see more of this. God Bless you sis.

Loving the new production logo. The execution of this short film was impeccable.. still trying to unpack the subliminal messages aside from the obvious abuse of power/trust, hypocrisy, narcissistic self-righteousness and obsession with power/clout. This needed to be made and needs to be discussed more regularly.

Perfection hidden in front of our faces ..and quickly showing TRUTH to whom has the Power.
I think an underlying theme is just wanting the pastor to say, “Yes I did this and I’m sorry.” He never acknowledges fault. “I’m a sinner” never acknowledges “I’ve hurt someone.” His wife hurts over and over again interacting with the people his pastor’s victims.

It’s wild bc I watched this when it first came out and then long forgot about it. I watched the new film last weekend and then saw this as a recommended video in my feed. Talk about full circle! I really hope the original team was closely involved in the remake. I have a feeling they were bc they stayed very close to the original script and visuals. Round of applause 👏🏾

So well done & that Les Misérables reference they slipped in on the young man's work vest got me I loved that. plus the reveal that the makeshift statue actually looked like the kid? was... wow. I'm so excited to watch the film and see what they've done with this & what they might sneak in!

Powerful, incredible Issa. I grew up in the charismatic movement of the 70's and 80's. This cut to the bone, especially growing up and seeing the curtains pulled back on the business and falliability of leaders. Wow. 👍💜

I am in total agreement of this story being told. As a theologian of Christian Mime, the confusion about Christian Mime was made very clear in this film and part of the reason I wrote a book called "The Unspoken Truth About the Ministry of Mime." This short story about mega church scandals had Bishop Eddie Long vibes. Issa Raye did an amazing job telling this much needed story.

The full feature film is for sure in my top 3 movies this year, it was great, and the fact that on some sites it has mediocre ratings is insane to me. It should be considered the greatest example of subtlety and the phrase “Show Don’t Tell”. The cinematography was amazing and the performances were awesome. Definitely cements a spot right into my top 15 films of all time.

Excellent!! This short film portrayed the phoniness that exists in these fleece factory buildings known as "churches".....and oh how they both fell apart when their fancy shoes got dirty. That showed what they valued most to look clean and perfect but really just as nasty as what stuck to the bottom of their designer shoes. Everyone MUST know The Most High, The Creator of Heaven and Earth for themselves. These snakes in the pulpits are "Snakes in the Pulpit".
