I was there that day. I was 4 years old born in 1899 currently I'm 124 years old and I can tell you that there were at least THREE missed holding calls in this game. Very disappointed with the officiating.
The oldest person in the world is US-born Spaniard Maria Branyas at 118 years old. I regret to inform you that you are lying.
I’m going to leave my reply but I realize you’re trolling and I took the bait like a big old catfish catching the scent of chicken liver after sunset
@@SweetLemonlockswomp womp
@@SweetLemonlocksyou avoided the wooosh. Good job.
@@SweetLemonlockswhy do you talk like that 😭
Can you imagine how they’d freak out if a modern offense lined up
against them. The passing alone would freak them out.
But I would rather watch the old ones.they respected the game.
@@Prfdt3That's such an insane take. It doesn't make the least bit of sense
0:46 my man came at them with a flying kick 🤣
If you ever played rugby you would easily see the early connection between the two sports . It was only after young players were continually seriously injured or killed and the cry went out to abolish the sport on campus. President Teddy Roosevelt was a fan though so he demanded changes to the rules . The field was narrowed ten yards and shortened ten yards and the forward pass came in . This was were rugby and football started to go their own ways . Incidentally Australian football is played to the original rules laid out over 150 years ago . Strange game to watch if you don't know the rules.
I much prefer a Rugby League and Union over the NFL at this time. Too much stop start and drama in NFL
It was literally called rugby. It has always been rugby. Then again, Rugby is a code of football so American went with the word football. Even though, their code of football doesn't even allow players to kick the ball in the game unless they attempt to score a point.
This is such good stuff. If you'll notice every play run was pretty much straight up the middle. There was a time where the rule was that you couldn't run a play essentially outside of where the lineman were lined up. That might not be the actual specific but that was the essence of it. This resulted in a lot of the injuries and deaths that occurred. So one rule change they made was that you could run the ball outside meaning a sweep play. Apparently this change had positive effect on the number if injuries and deaths. Since this is 1903 it would seem that the change was made after that. I know that the pass was legalized in 1906 but can't find the date that allowed for sweep plays.
@@Greenfield-yf1wh It is called football because the standard ball was 1 foot long.
Thats Super Interesting! Heres to 116 years of Football! 🥂
116 years of filmed football
@@steveshabazz8117 Indeed.

153 if you count the years that weren't filmed.
Looks like Michigan States current offense.
And here we are 2 years later
😂
60 minutes of "Tush Push".
😂😂😂
These are always cool videos to watch but then I always get a a weird vibe because literally everybody on the screen is dead 😂
College GameDay at this game would have been lit!!!
Id imagine theyd be talking alot of shit about the forward pass
Football was still more rugby then.
And look... The refs actually let them play football without calling a penalty on every play!! 🙃
💯💯
Rules were different bck then.
Average of 18 deaths per season 😭
Less rules then
Guess cheating was easier then
This is back when the refs had class and wore three-piece suits in the game.
The Big 10 played football like that until the 1990s.
BS
Dog pile at every down... 🤣🤣🤣
How did that ref miss all those neutral zone infractions??
To think that Football is over 100yrs old is blowing my mind
@Halo Dude ain't no way
@@MovieByNitro yep way
Your mind is easily blown
The first game ever played was played in 1869.
@@pheynx7573 well scratch what I said, beyond a century old
This is what I like about the internet
Спасибо тому, кто придумал кинокамеру в то время! Пусть и качество ужасное, но мы хотя бы можем увидеть кусочек того времени, кусочек прошедшей эпоха..
Thanks to whoever invented the movie camera at that time! Let the quality be terrible, but at least we can see a piece of that time, a piece of a bygone era ..🙏😔
Crazy how football looked before the "forward pass" was installed.. mostly scrums like rugby
Sometimes change is a good thing, this could certainly be fun to play, but to watch? HELL NO
The exact rule of being down a few years prior to this is when "forward movement of the ball is stopped, or if the player shall CRY down". Many players wouldn't 'cry down' right away, they'd continue to crawl forward, this would usually be stopped by defenders jumping on thier backs knee first.
High kicks and everything 😂😁💪
Just think, most the people at that game did not have a car.
It's basically rugby
Was Brady playing QB?
I'm late to the game, but wasn't the first game of football played in Canada....? I think it was in Montreal
I miss the days before targeting
Last time cowboys won a Super Bowl
Jonathan and Dio where in that match
I thought this is supposed 2b "history colored " looks pretty black&white 2 me
You say film by Alfred C. Abadie for Thomas A. Edison Inc why wasn't there any credits saying Princeton Tigers vs Yale Bulldogs in the beginning of the film? It could be other teams played
Football? When they kicked the ball?
0:46 on the left side. A flying kick? Seriously?
Somebody throw a pass for crying out loud !
What
Love from India♥️
“Good ol times” 👴🏻
The only thing I like about over 100years of football is that the refs Dont know what they are doing.😂
💯💯
please do one on english football
That would be a bit difficult unless he has a time travelling machine.
@@jahno7154 I'm sure they can do that in 2050
@@manutd22 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
All these people are dead.
i'm 1000000% sure someone died on the field during these games.
All of them probably before 2000
I wonder who won that game, hell look like every time the ball was snapped they sacked the guy who received it. 😂 ok its the center and the quarter back.
Can you imagine if the speed and power of today's NFL had been released on any of those poor men at that time?! Total devastation.Talk about body bag games!!! That would've unleashed total mayhem before we'd been prepared for it by a century of tumult, war and internal strife.
Back then you couldn’t pass
So bring in all the 300 pound line man and make them run the ball 😂
@@cashondeliver plus you played ironman, so you had to be in shape for the whole game every game, and be skilled at at least two positions.
Back then, there were no pads and leather helmets. To there’s that factor.
It's rigged now
Good God a current top level College football player is 5 times their size and probably 20 times their strength..just one of them could run right over all of these guys single handedly...
These guys wore little padding. Most of them were farm boys. They knew pain and knew it well. You’d be surprised how tough people used to be.
Baseball>Football
You mean tackle handball! Football is ⚽️ from the UK.
Should be called Fakerugby not Football ⚽️
