    In Australia, Cane Toads are eaten by keelback snakes, Salt Water crocodiles, and Rakali who flip them over and eat internal organs, also some birds eat their lower half, avoiding the poison glands.

    Lovely vid, I think if something 100 times my size tried picking me up I'd urinate all over it as well 😂 The main issue with the adverts is that it doesn't restart where the video left off so you have to rewind. Before the 1st ad you were holding it saying 'we'll keep it there' when the ad started and when the vid started again it was already in the new home, . No matter how many ads they put on it, it won't put people off your excellent content 🙂

    Hello Dave and Camera Lady. So lovely to see you as always. Thank you for sharing your little toad with us. As much as I love the mossy frogs and your big Odin, this one reminds me of the Bupo toads in Florida and they give me nightmares. It isn’t their fault that dogs like to chew on them and get poisoned but it did give me some bad experiences. I never thought I would prefer spiders 😮🤣. You have made me a changed woman. I am still hoping for a mossy frog update. Well, I am still sick 🤧😷🤒 so I am back to bed. Take care of yourselves and each other and for heavens sake Dave, go wash your hands!!❤️🤠

    Hi Dave, and camera lady. I really liked this video about the Cane Toad. That is pretty, and large toad. I live in St.Petersburg, Florida. I worked for a vet. A nice family dog, found a cane toad, and was exposed to the poison. They brought their dog in, but it was to late, and the dog died. 😢They are all over in Florida. So now there are signs now about cane toads, and don't loose sight of your dog. Really nice rehousing, and thank you for all of the information about the cane toad. Cindy USA

    These toads are now a plague in Florida (and, I understand, in Australia). I knew they were very effective in controlling the cane beetles, but I never appreciated why they get out of hand so quickly. Thanks for explaining that it's a combination of their toxicity, eating habits and monumental reproduction rates. That said, at this size, they are rather cute.

      Just like Aussies get along with huntsman spiders a lot more than Europeans would. Everything is an issue of mind. Just like eating tarantulas in Cambodia vs. Australia, America or Europe. Unlikely to happen, even though it's totally possible.

    This is what chatgpt has to say about the natural enemies of the Cane Toad:
    Natural enemies of the Cane Toad:
    The Australian black snake (Pseudechis porphyriacus):
    This snake is known for its ability to eat Cane Toads without severe poisoning. Scientists have found that these snakes have developed a specific adaptation to break down the poison of the Cane Toad, making it less harmful to their own bodies.
    Other natural predators include various native birds, mammals, and reptiles. In their native habitats in Central and South America, Cane Toads face predation from snakes, birds of prey, and certain mammalian predators. However, in areas where the Cane Toad has been introduced as an invasive species, the lack of natural predators has contributed to its successful establishment, posing challenges for local ecosystems.

But I wouldn't want them too, fearing what they could inflict on our native species & other vulnerable wildlife. Personally I feel having creatures like these warrants a licence & was wondering if that's the case for hobbyists? I'd hate to think there's some unscrupulous people out there that aren't as responsible as you & many of your followers that would turn these out into the wild because they've grown tired of keeping/caring for them?

    11:07, depending on the locality, that’s no even as big as she’s going to get, the ones from Surinam get especially large, I remember several years ago my local pet store had an absolutely monstrous cane toad, it was probably one of the biggest toads I’ve ever seen

    Dave, have you ever take a look on the pacman frog (Ceratophrys cranwelli)? It's a brazilian species that is super popular in the hobby here in Brazil. About cane toads, here we can see these guys hanging around everywhere..

    We get loads of common toads in our garden. I love them….but they always wee on me. Ahh well 😂. (Ours aren’t quite so large as the cane)
    On a dog note…my dog scents them out for me. She doesn’t touch them though ❤

    Are these toads in any way related to Bullfrog's? The description of the toad for almost entirely fits bullfrog's except they dont have poison.

      @daveslittlebeasties  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Toads are in a different genus

      @@daveslittlebeasties Thank you Dave, funny how nature works, things being so similar yet so different.
