Go Gently Episode 10 - Connection to the Lands with Jordan Marie Daniel

- Jordan Marie Daniel is an athlete and founder of Rising Hearts. Jordan uses her voice and practice as a runner to advocate for Indigenous Peoples rights. Jordan is a citizen of Kul Wicasa Oyate (Lower Brule Sioux Tribe). I met Jordan through Instagram about two years ago and the hike we take in this video was the first time we physically were able to share space together. It was so lovely to take this hike together and connect on topics we care about.
During this video we reflect on the importance of acknowledging whose lands you are on and the history of those lands. Like finding out the first people of that land you enjoy recreationally or are visiting, for instance where we hiked in Topanga, California is the land of the Chumash and Tongva people. We also discuss the issue of safety and inclusion for often marginalized groups in the outdoor space and community.
I am continually inspired by Jordan and the way that she uses her practice as runner as an act of remembrance, solidarity and advocacy to those who have been oppressed. This beautiful video was shot by her husband Devin Whetstone.

I love go gently! 💗 With this project I began to make small changes in my life to support our planet and I am excited to put into practice the other ideas and recipes that will come in your book📚🌷, this channel motivates me to be part of supporting our beautiful planet 🌎💞, I love you bonnie and thank you for everything you do you are amazing keep it up! 💓💐
So pleased to hear this! 🌱
CONGRATULATIONS on your marriage you looked so beautiful on your most happiest day! When I say I got literal butterflies when I saw the picture I literally cried because I was watching the first potter movie and you were so little!!!
Hi Bonnie!!! I love youu!!!
The intro is so calming love you Bonnie!
And a seriously big congratulations on your wedding!
I especially love this video, I am currently writing my thesis on how to incorporate those important lessons that indigenous people taught us about the Rights of Nature into international law. I am always so happy and grateful to see when more people learn these lessons and appreciation for the environment.
That sounds like a wonderful topic!
I'll try my best to get it published and can let you know, but it usually takes about half a year until everything is peer reviewed etc.
Ooh. I would love to read this -- paralegal education with heavy involvement and research of the legal side of the Standing Rock Sioux with regard to treaty rights. Do you have a website or way of keeping abreast of when your paper will be published? 👏
This conversation is so important and so poignant. Thank you so much for having Jordan on the channel today. Creating a safe, respectful space for all is such vital work. ✨ Thank you both so, so much for sharing this.
So glad you enjoyed the episode!
Valuable content, and powerful message to protect Mother Nature, the importance of communities & knowledge. Love the inspiring content.
With this channel I started to take small steps to save this wonderful planet🌎thank you very much bonnie🤍for all the sacrifices you make and for what you let us know✨I am really grateful to you. I love you Bonnie,I love Go Gently!!💓🌱
Can't wait to buy your book📚💐
Congratulations Bonnie for everything ☀️
I send you my warmest wishes for your wedding🌷
Strong, inspiring women.
Congratulations on your wedding. Love these episodes, it has motivated me and inspired me to make strong changes.
Thank you Jordan for sharing your wisdom and your ancestral knowledge. As someone who has native heritage and who has many friends of the indigenous culture thank you for shedding more light on the subject. I've always said we don't own the lands and we don't own the Seas but we can be a part of them and coexist. We are guests that hopefully when we leave we leave behind some light in whenever we touched along the way. Another great episode Bonnie and loving these.
This video is very inspiring and it feels good to be in connection with nature🌳
Very nice approach Bonnie !!!!Proud of u🌹☺️ and love u so much ❣️🤗
I love this and the chat about giving respect to the indigenous people and their lands. We do that a lot here in Australia, it’s a beautiful way to give respect to those who steward the lands before us.
Congratulations on your marriage, Bon!! Still continuing to look forward to your book in less than one month!!
Wow! I love how you took a step back and gave this amazing person the space to speak her truth. I always find it really disrespectful when (especially white) interviewers talk too much in an interview that should be about the other person. So well done!! And thanks for this video, I think it's very meaningful 🌿
Thank you for doing this collaboration with Jordan Marie Daniels, you guys are both inspiring!
Thank you for this amazing video! Beautifully done, cozy and very deep at the same time ❤️
I love this channel because I think that is so important the care of the earth 🌎 and the most important thing is that I love Bonnie she’s my idol she is a beautiful woman she is so polite and kind, now I’ m going to buy her new book I’m so proud for Bonnie
Bonnie, If you read this message don’t forget that I love you, You don’t have to change !!!
When you are able to discover nature, animals, plants in all their magnificence in the landscape, you will have discovered yourself. We are beyond a profession or a desire for an appearance. Can you inspire us to continue on this right path? It's like a great reward for your focus and passion.. XOXO
hello it's a pleasure to see you and listen and feel the frequency in which you resonate whenever I have time I can see your channel congratulations for your book I love it! Just like that innocent and premature look on your character in the movie that you sometimes unintentionally let out outside in a natural and incredible way to see the woman you have become and it's not movie magic, it's your natural essence gretting Bonnie Wright
As I said before, history is very important to understand our future. With it we learn to protect ourselves and the environment.
I can't stop coming here fortnightly basis to see what you have to show us.
I couldn't agree more!🙂🙌
@@astroculus Thank you for that.
@@telmoneves9402 You're welcome.🙂 What you said is a simple thing but often forgotten. Also, I too feel her content is magnetic.
Ecstatic to learn new perspective, this is so very eye opening I can't explain of how this channel upview videos that evryone can come up to a new mindset to know, learn and share.IlY! Bonnie☘️🌏☺️
Wow, this channel is just full of surprises. I am getting so much from these videos; knowledge, positivity, awareness, strength, among many other things. Thank you!
Such inspiring content 💚 your videos are so calming at a time when it’s very easy to get overwhelmed by climate challenges. If ever you think about making t-shirts, Teemill have a fully circular supply chain. Plastic-free packaging, powered by renewables, and their clothes are designed to be remade at the end of their useful life. I say this because I’d love a Go Gently t-shirt 💚💚 only if made responsibly of course! Keep up the inspiring work
I love you and your Chanel so much 💗. You are so positive and smile 😃 .I want to be like you! BONNIE I LOVE YOU
I am not from England so I don't speak English well I am sorry

Love! Miigwetch for facilitating this beautiful conversation and bringing light to Indigenous voices. I am Anishinaabe and appreciate this :)
THANK YOU! 🙏Yes! Thank you Jordan Marie Daniel for sharing your time, your brilliance, and voice! Thank you Bonnie for using your platform to these messages and voices - hope to see more of it! I make CZcams videos in a similar spirit to yours - with an emphasis on conscious living, connection to earth, etc. and as a non-native person living on these lands, these issues and information is intrinsic to our constant listening and learning. Keep up the good work! 💚
Bonnie I've learnt so much with this channel, more than I ever did in school, it's so amazing how I am more aware of my space an what surrounds me after watching your videos. It has become such a safe space for me when I am anxious, it's very calming

Thank you for this. It’s never too late to learn to communicate with others to understand their feelings and backgrounds.
God I can't explain how much I love this channel, I just can't believe that a 15-minute episode is adequate enough to change my perspective for straightforward topics , way to go Bonnie, and congrats on the big day🎊
Growing up on Chumash lands I've always felt a deep connection to the trails and nature of Southern California, so not only do I love seeing my home again through your videos, but I also appreciate this conversation you had and stressing the importance of those lands and how we are simply visitors and stewards of this planet
Thank you - reflection of life and the hidden meanings are best shared/
Amazing vidéo, i love our world
Dear Bonnie, I am very glad that there are people like you who are helping the planet. Many times I say to myself "We must to help the earth" but I have not done this. A beautiful video. I love that you are trying to give indigenous voices a platform too, look how many wonderful and important things we can learn! I had not heard of Jordan Marie Daniel, but I am glad she (and her way to look at community, the land, the environment) got introduced to me. Thank you!

You're kind, loving, caring, supportive, comforting, sweet and full of hope. So much how I admire you. You're such a lovely lady.🥰🥰🥰🥰💗💗💗💗❣❣❣❣💖💖💖💖😘😘😘💋💋💋💋
Love you!!!This is so great!!!!
This conversation really opened my mind and eyes. This is absolutely correct. I use to go hiking all the time before I moved. Really appreciated nature and really admired it’s beauty. But we can be part of that nature instead of taking pictures and leaving footprints. There’s so much to learn about nature. How it can benefit us and what we can do to keep it alive and beautiful.
I love this style of video! It allowed us to learn while enjoying the wonderful nature views and sounds. Nature is life-giving. Great job & thanks for sharing 💛
- Julia
Loving this channel!!! You both are such incredible inspirations for me 💞
This channel is so calming, and is inspiring small changes in my own life. Bonnie, you are inspirational, and I love Andrew's (and yours' now too) garden! I just got a compost bin for my yard earlier this year for food scraps and started my own potted fruit and vegetables garden this year, so seeing your garden was like heaven on earth!
Congratulations to your wedding!😍 I love your CZcams Channel go gently! Its so inspire! ❤ Thank you, Bonnie
Congratulations on your marriage!!! Interesting video, I remember with the lands that use to once be beautiful in Schertz, TX with parts of San Antonio. A lot have changed in those areas as years past in parts of Texas that I remember. Your video will always have me remember about what I've been through, along with seeing beautiful country sides out there.
This was such a beautiful video. I love learning how to improve myself for the sake of myself and those I share the planet with. It was lovely to hear what can be done and feel that there is hope that things are changing for the better for indigenous Americans. Also congrats on your marriage!
The one I've been waiting for!
Thank you for being such inspiration 🌹
This was a very eye opening discussion- I always learn something new on this channel. I can’t wait for your book and for your future videos. Congratulations on your marriage as well! ❤️
UGH this video was preceded by an Asos ad :) Thank you for giving a platform for the indigenous community. They have a special connection to the land and their voices are too often marginalised.I really enjoyed your chat with Jordan whose presence like yours is gentle and calming. PS congratulations to you and Andrew - I wish you both a long and happy marriage. The picture looked beautiful.💓💓💓 x
I enjoyed watching the Video
I’ve loved these videos so much ❤️
I love the new intro!

Me loves ur videos BONNIE ❤️❤️
Such a lovely and inspiring video.
Que hermoso programa ! ❤
i love you bonnie💕
Hi Bonnie! thanks for another great video and congratulations for new chapter of your life! I wish you the best!
anyway, I love the topic of this video. after reading Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer last year, which is such a great book, the wisdom of indigenous people fascinate me. And i actually realize that now i do my internship as a research assistant on Eco-identity development during adolescence, social scientists still have a long way to go to understanding human connection to nature, unlike the indigenous communities. it seems very natural for them (and us, human). i have been craving some amazing reads in this topic further, so please if you, or anyone here, have a recommendation, it'll be very much appreciated!
I'm reading Braiding Sweetgrass right now. I'm enjoying it!
Rachel Carson’s ‘The Sea Trilogy’ is so rich in a respect for nature. The writing is also completely spellbinding.
@@bethanybeatrix thank you for the recommendation. I just finished Silent Spring! Might pick that one up :)
I love you so much 💗💗
This was lovely. As a red head I officially grant you a soul lol. Joke, this was awesome. Keep the light on stories like these
It's both great and justifiable that this video's comments are focused more on the recent awesome occasion of your life. At the same time, I truly want to thank you for uploading such videos where we, as a viewer, can essentially accompany you while you take us to these scenic places and lands. Dare I say, this video is one of your best shot videos until now.
I agree with your opinion on humans fulfilling the role of nature's stewards. Unfortunately, we are getting farther from our ecological niche. I believe a lot of us are sadly confused because contributing and interfering in a process are not the same thing. Nowadays, many of us are interfering more than contributing towards the betterment of nature. Overall, the conversation featured was really intriguing. Not going to lie, despite India being the land where movements like 'Chipko Movement' and 'Bishnoi Movement' have originated and succeeded, the term 'Land Acknowledgement' was totally new for me. So, I'll surely try to know and understand it more. Thank you for continuously inspiring me, Bonnie.😊
Please don't stop this channel 🙏 😭
Congratulations on your wedding! I had a feeling Andrew was the one. You guys seem to align in a way that makes it pretty obvious that you are it for each other.
Can't wait to read your book. I already pre-ordered it.
