    I have been dating a very lovely Cameroonian man for about 3 years now, and I've been cooking your recipes for him every since I met him. I served this fufu but made from yams with your Eru recipe, and he was so happy and proud his American woman made him this Cameroonian meal. Thank you, thank you, thank you ♥️

    When we were kids, I remember my mom would make collards and we would eat it with cornbread mashed into it with our fingers much like how we ate fufu in Africa. Need some pepper soup now.

    In Zambia we use corn meal or mealie meal and call it nshima in general. It has many names in diffferent languages. The only difference is with the meal we add that cold water and meal mixture to the boiling water and make a porridge that can boil 15 to 30 minutes or more, depending on the heat and quantity, and then add the dry meal according to how thick we want it. We then let simmer for about 5 to 10 minutes.

    In Barbados we call it cou cou it is made with cornmeal. Okra is finely cut and cooked in the cornmeal and it is served with steamed fish or any other stew...or as you say soup.

    It reminds me of a corn risotto almost! But then again here in America “froufrou“ might mean something else, that you are cooking with very little but making a big deal says it all not to be mean at all I do enjoy this and I am going to try for sure! I just mean that Fufu all that fufu over grits… I am definitely going to try this and use as a base for some kind of stirfry veggies or meat it reminded me of mashed potatoes at first and then grits. If it is from West Africa I know it is good because okra :-) thanks for the videos, cheers!

    Every time I watch you cook, I'm reminded that Cameroun and Nigeria are literally the same country. Borders be damned. Our cultures tell a different story from what borders and immigration laws would have one believe. I was thinking to myself that this would go so well with some hot okro soup and you literally said it as I was thinking it. Well done.

    We call this turn cornmeal in Jamaica 🇯🇲 Trelawny Albert Town.
    I usually start the cornmeal in cold water on the stove and slowly stirring the meal in the water until a dough is formed. I would have the kettle with hot water and add water to get the consistency then put cover on and just let the meal continue steaming Onslow fire.this prevent burning just tip the bottom of pot with water.
    I dont know why you are putting so much effort into turning with your wrist. Just leave to steam tipping water and turn once and cover , THE PROCESS IS STEAMING.
    SOME JAMAICAN'S PUT IN HOT WATER BUT I FIND IT JUST SPLATTER AND BURN YOU UP.
    GREAT VIDEO BUT TOO MUCH WORK
    I LOVE TURN CORNMEAL.
    SOMETIMES I PUT CHOPPED ONIONS AND GARLIC WITH A LITTLE BUTTER AND CARMEALIZED THAT AND ADD TO THE MEAL. SUPPER IS SERVER.
    I LOVE THIS

    • @PreciousKitchen
      @PreciousKitchen  Před 6 lety +1

      Rose Line the brand I use is nameless. It just says, "Corn Flour". I got it from the African aisle in an Asian store. Some brands of corn meal will work well.
      It's not the same procedure for cassava and plantain fufu. For cassava and plantain fufu, you do not need to make the base. Just mix the flour with hot/boiling water and mix well to avoid lumps. Hope this helps, dear. ❤

      Precious Kitchen using an egg whisker at the start will help to ensure it doesn't form any lumps.
      Quick question Prescious: Does the cold "kende" ( the base) not make the fufu sticky to the palm and taste cold ( not like cold but for pidgin na cold water fufu) a kind of bad texture?
