Love your show, I was raised on a farm in Zanesville, Ohio. A lovely haunted farmhouse in Crazy Zaney. We moved when I was 10 and I live on the plateau of a Mtn. in the Appalachian Mtns. Yes I live in the sticks on a farm now. I was the baby of 5. When you guys speak it’s hilarious, when you said you need to say it like a hoity-toitey northerner. I almost fell out of my chair. When I was in my 30’s, I was a Contractor and property manager. For a rent to own, because I am from the north and did not acclimate to southern slang. A gentleman? I spoke to to get the air restored asked me legit. In the most southern accent, what are you? A Hotsey Totsey government agent? Me blinking rapidly seriously trying not to laugh at this very southern speaking sub-contractor. Who may have stepped in a pile of proper grammar poo! Had me in stitches. He totally blew my cover, how did he know, I was secretly a Hotsey Totsey, slang for Hoitey-Toitey government agent? It was my Northern speech, that had him terrified I even knew big words to! Which made me a Genius Hotsey-Totsey agent. I had to fire him from his position as a heating and air conditioning subcontractor. He was trying to make us wait 2 weeks for a part. I asked where did you order it from? Canada? He said nope, I tried to save you $100 on that part and he has to remove it from another unit. I said what did you just say? He was silent golden silent. I said sir, I am not trying to save $300 on a used part? I said. apologies I did not know, I had called a salvage yard or a goodwill for an air conditioner to be fixed. I wanted a new part and needed it installed yesterday. It’s 90 degrees outside, they have 3 young children w/asthma. He said sorry I did not know that Ast-Ma’s could kill little kids and adults. SMH😂 so when I told him that installing used parts instead of new ones was fraud. He freaked out and hung up on me! That’s how I became a Hotsie Totsie government agent! 🙄😳🤔🤭🫢🤭!
He knew what he was doing. So many scammers out there trying to rip off people.
I haven't heard anyone talk about haints since I was a kid. I remember the old folks talking about haints back then.
Now suddenly in the past couple years, I've seen them talked about repeatedly.
I no longer live in the Appalachian region or the South, and where I live now, literally no one has heard of them. A couple artists and interior designers I know are familiar with "Haint Blue", but not the history behind the color and tradition.

You mentioned something I've never heard about -- that the Appalachian mountain range goes underwater and all the way to Ireland. What if -- and hear me out -- what if the Little People, Hidden Folk, Holy People, etc from here in the US according to the First Nations/Indigenous populations HERE are actually interacting with what my people over in Ireland, and thereabouts were dealing with over THERE -- the faerie folk and they're all one and the same because they TRAVEL UNDERGROUND THROUGH CAVERNS THAT PERHAPS THE DWARVES OR SOMETHING MINED UNDER THE MOUNTAIN RIDGE UNDER THE OCEAN... OR BEFORE THEY ALL BROKE APART AND BECAME THE OCEAN IN BETWEEN THAT THEY TRAVELLED ABOVE THEM FROM PLACE TO PLACE.
The mountains connected while the continents were all smushed together. When the super continents broke apart, North America eventually ended up where it is. So the Appalachian Mtns are a part of the same formation up in Scotland. Same rocks, same geology.

They were just talking about the little people seen In Appalachia on DA Robert’s channel, it’s small but really good..many first hand stories as well as stories collected from all over the world.
I live in south West Virginia. At the foot of the Blue Ridge mtns. There's a little known cave system in my backyard called Devil's Den. It's a nature preserve now. I used to guide there and nobody knows how deep it is.

Mississippi is not part of Appalachia folks. It runs from NE AL/SE TN area where i was born to NY but its the southern part that is most known for the magic. Also im half Native & my tribe has the blood of the WELSH people who were here before Columbus but understand the term "Native American" is incorrect when it pertains to our tribe. As a matter of fact our people share the closest genetic similarity as the natives of ancient Siberia. History is not what youve been taught. Native American tribes are all genetically distinct hybrids of many people's as are everyone else. Very few groups of people are in the lands they began in.
Hey J.C! I’m not from Apallachia, so I don’t have the inside scoop as you might. If I mentioned Mississippi it was because the the map I used in some of my regional research may have been the one linked here which shows the southern most region dipping down into Mississippi:

From what I read, the exact perimeters of the region are still debated by some, and movements trying to extend it, but I’m certainly not an expert.

I was born in Sevierville 82. Just found out that I'm mostly Scandinavian too. Is Welsh Scandinavian 🤔 sorry my geographical knowledge is severely lacking in... well really anywhere outside of upstate NY where I currently am.
I believe the Appalachian mountains do run into northern Mississippi but I am more familiar with the Blue ridge mountains from my time living in north and south Carolina

My mother was born in Clay County Kentucky in 1922 and she told me the old timers oftentimes spoke in terms used in The Kings James Bible or Shakespearean language.

Haints is a term meaning "ghosts" and I believe it was brought into the colonies by the Gullah people. It is equated with a colour of green-blue paint called "Haint Blue" that was often painted on the ceilings of outdoor porches for its quality of being able to keep spirits, and more practically, mosquitos, away. I read that the Gullah people believed it tricked spirits into thinking it was the sky, or water, and thus the haints would pass through it rather than remain in the house where the paint colour was applied. The recipe is indigo pigment, milk paint, lime and dirt. The lime is why it repels mosquitoes.
Hot Foot Powder nowadays are mostly used in one of 2 ways that I have come to see first hand. The first method is to sprinkle the powder where said person is to walk over it and then it's swept away with a broom to enact the spell. The second method is to add it to candles which are used in banishment spells.

@@BeliefHolePodcast oh it's absolutely still being used. Even here in South Africa, and even I have some that was gifted to me by one of my dearest friends who passed some years ago. I absolutely loved the episode by the way. Every witch I know has their own special talents within the craft. One of my friends has a natural healing talent as well, whereas my own talents are more shamanic type wherein I practice a lot of astral projection and dream type magic, as well as manifestation. I also inherited my ability from my mother's side of the family, therefore I firmly believe it can be passed down through generations.

I googled the Appalachia mountain range and its so huge, I had no idea. I've had ancestors on my mom's side who've lived over there. I wonder if any of them learned this type of folk magic.
I’m in the northern panhandle of West Virginia and my dad’s parents came up from what we call down the river or locally down Hoopie, therefore people that came up to work in the steel mills up here were called Hoopies. I never heard about the term snakes, but nowadays when there’s a strike going on @ a mill they call the people who work in place of the actual workers on strike scabs.
I live in southwest va in a holler my whole life. U have to cross a mountain every day to get to town. I have seen some crazy things over in these hills. I have died and came back. I’m also part Cherokee. It’s opened me up to many things in these hills.

Germany's landscape is VERY similar too. Germanic, Irish, Scottish, English, French, Israel, Spanish, Africa (escaped slaves) (also Spanish Deserters)and Native Americans all mingled together. My mother was M. Irish so dark with no red bone skin color and icy blue eyes - there's 2 groups from this mixing of coultures. There are a lot of magics from all over Europe and U.S. I'm from Appalachia 💚💙💜🤎❤🧡🤍💛
I need to look into this more because I found out a few years back my great great grandmother was Native American and I have a lot of German, Swedish, Scottish Irish in my family tree. I feel very connected to native culture and have had a few supernatural experiences with what I was told are the ancestors. When I dye my hair dark brown people ask me if I’m Native American. Now that I’m older I want to learn about my ancestors and family roots. I feel there are answers for me in it.

The “ Magic or Practical Magic “ did not disappear from Kentucky. My ancestors did marry into the Cherokee tribe. According to my Dad who was absolutely certain he remembered his great grandmother and how beautiful she was . My sister took the DNA test and obviously my Dad he was correct . I’m looking forward to the day I can have the time to track my family’s history as far back as I possibly can . Unfortunately I’m 55 and still working full time night shift . So no extra for myself unfortunately. I punch a clock person. I should have been on disability since 2016 . However I don’t think I could like comfortable on disability. But who knows what the future holds. Hopefully some “ good magic” ❤

👀 Not sure what you mean around 4:45 when you say that Ozark Magic is a child's version of Appalachian Magic. I've recently found your channel and have really enjoyed it, but cant say that i appreciate the condescension that appears in your comparison.
You don't Appalachia stories on our side of the mountains because the Allegheny mountains are between us and them but they got their own stories. That's why you get 3 separate names for Bigfoot up our way(I say our way because I live close enough to stop by and buy you dinner.) 😂 and don't listen to them dumb sasquatch hunters out west😂 when you can see them right by you and don't have to leave your car 😂 they cross i70 twice a year just between Pittsburgh and point pleasant then cross the river before splitting up into smaller groups(Ohio grassman or Allegheny Bigfoot) they travel the railroad tracks to stay hidden. Best time to film is autumn after leaves fall during Southern migration. Northern migration happens only after spring leaves grow. They follow the berry patches north as it gets warmer. Then hang out by great lakes. FYI they only move from a spot they forage at just before in coming storms to help hide that nasty smell and hide tracks.😂 also the Ohio River is only about 15min swim. We used to race as kids. 😂 stick with me kids I got all the info

We're Laurentian, in the same range as our ancestors, I think parts were Welsh, Phoenician, and Ethiopian in more modern times, but most native tribes have stories about the ppl who were here when they got here, and some of those were pale skinned too

I live in Texas and my mom's family is in Floyd county KY. Believe careful on the definition of witch and magic. My great aunt Emmy was known as a mountain witch. Not the definition u are using though. She knew the roots, bark, herbs and plants that grow in the mountains to help heal people. She was also a midwife. In the very early of history there were no doctors and when they did show up people couldn't afford them. The mountain witch or healers were the only help that they had. 😊

So you actually have two separate immune system, and they're very different, but medicine only talks about one. And no matter what kind of magic you're talking about, from what culture, all of the stuff that people do for the most part are things that affect the second immune system in one way or another. Your second immune system you've never heard of is actually your entire personality or soul, because when you have an emotion in your body, it's a inflammatory reaction, with different emotions being reactions in different parts of the body. So the algorithm so to speak that tells your body where to trigger inflammation in response to what conditions is what makes everyone's personality unique, and with various herbs or metals or other sources of energy, you can induce different physiological states in yourself or others. It's actually not supernatural at all
I literally typed this all out 10 seconds before you mentioned garlic being anti-inflammatory 😂 So the medical name for substances used in magic is "mast cell triggers" and "mast cell stabilizers." If you research and understand the concept behind solfeggio music, it's the same thing. Different plants have different frequencies of energy just like different musical notes or wavelengths of light. Your nervous system is influenced by all of these energies, as I said, mainly by moving blood around so that different systems get different amounts of resources, which makes different systems work harder than others, which creates your physiological state.
