As a Dutch person, I've never seen or heard of this before but it looks so good I might have to make it
Maybe because of the pot it is made in? In Jamaica we call some pot Dutchpot. I am thinking out loud!
They are so good
@fillistine The funny thing is that we (dutchies) dont even call those pots dutch pans/ dutch ovens. we just call them cast iron pans 😅 i have no idea where that came from
He mentioned that it may be a mispronunciation of Deutsch
@@LRon-ef7ni German pancakes are softer and thin. The pot would be called frying pan then. 😂
My mom's favorite breakfast, I am going to try and make it for her on Mother's Day!
These are so much less complicated than I had thought. Thank you, John! I vote for honey and yogurt or apricot preserves for a topping! Thanks again! ✌️
Thank you very much for the instructions for mixing the batter manually. As it’s difficult to equip myself with all kinds of machines such as a blender and a stand mixer due to space constraints in my kitchen, it’s very helpful and very appreciated when you add a little additional tips for non-machine users.
My dad made these all the time for us as kids, he called it puff baby! So good
John makes everything look SO easy and beautiful! I can’t wait to try this!!!
❤
Yum and so beautiful!! this is a very old fashion recipe. The pancake houses around me used to have it when I was a young person in my 70s and now it’s getting popular again.
Thanks John - look forward to watching you every Tuesday and Thursday - always a great recipe and entertaining demo -
Delicious
I doubled the recipe and made it in my 12” aluminium pan and it still turned out great!!
Been making these for 20 years and never added sugar in the batter. Just eggs, milk, flour and salt. Butter in the pan. Top with a squeeze of lemon and powdered sugar. Yum!
I made it and it was delicious! Definitely recommend.
Awesome John thank you so much stay bless with your family
I love all of your tips and tricks -- thanks, John!

I just made these using whole wheat flour ( cause that is all I had). I added Almond butter to my finished product with some cut up apples. Decicious!!! So easy. Thank you!
I love your recipes, John! This looks delicious. I would love to see your take on a strawberry crunch cake. That's a recipe I would love to try
So I have made this recipe a few times now - the last one a short while ago came out best ! Didn’t use the blender, whipped it up in bowl .. perfection ! This is the best recipe ever !
Wonderful, thanks John!
I’ll definitely try this. Looks amazing ….. 😮

I Love the Delicious Dutch Baby Pancake Recipe and i love it 🥞😍💕
Very nice recipie John! They look amazing! Have a nice day! 👍👏🍴
If you want a cooked fruit “topping”, just cook it up with the butter in your skillet on the stove, then pour the batter over it and pop it in the oven. I do this with apples and cinnamon and it’s delish.
Thanks! I'll try that way 👍
😍😍😍 my goodness, this looks absolutely amazing!
Doesn't it?
This a great recipe, I love everything you post.
One of my favorite things. Love fruit, but my favorite is powder sugar and fresh squeeze lemon juice. Yum!
Perfect timing!
I was looking for a German pancake recipe, and you appeared 😊
Sounds yummy. I will try these when my daughter and her family come for a visit next week. 😊
Hi John! You’re the absolute best ❤😊🎉
This looks so good!😍
I lived in Netherland for 3 months, and I wanted to eat them everyday, they are deliciooouussss!!!! ❤
How fun! I want to visit again and do a food tour.
@@PreppyKitchen It would be great!!
I am making these, looks lush
Looks delicious. The berries and powder sugar sold me. Add ice cream or whipped cream would be perfect 🤤😋❤️❤️ thanks for this
Thank you! Weekends I mix this up in the blender and next morning just pulse it a bit. It's so easy and if you have a family maybe make some bacon to put on the table.I always use blueberry's and maple syrup. Oh! If you have any leftovers you can eat it like a dessert with some whipped cream.
My dad used to get this at Pancake style restaurant. I would get the big apple pancake.
I will try to make the Dutch baby soon. Thank you for the recipe.
Ok is like yellow cake ❤❤look s very softee yum
Oh heck yes!
I need to make this
I love almond flavored instead of vanilla Dutch Babies ! they're awesome put ur favorite fruit in them. O!!! sooo good!
Amazing 👏
The Dutch babies from Betty’s Oceanview Diner in Berkley, CA are perfection. Worth the 2+ hour wait.
Excited to try this recipe
I Will give it a try

However I will use your recipe, and thank you for that!
Looking forward to this.
Finally made it, it’s a hit. I put whipped cream and fruit on it and maple syrup 🤩
Pannakuken is a family tradition at the lake cabin!
I just made one yesterday... I was looking to see if you had a video on it.. but couldn't find anything! So funny you posted a video today. I made a blueberry Lemon Dutch baby. It was fantastic.
Great video John😊😊
I always wanted to make a Dutch baby ever since I saw that scene in Bob's Burgers. I'll have to try this soon!
Good job chef
Are you reading my new-recipe mind? Found a great recipe the other day, now I'll try yours.
I use freeze dried blueberries and toss them into the batter right before I add the batter to the pan. I also add an extra tablespoon or two of the milk to compensate for rehydrating the berries. Delicious!
Thank you! One of my favorites yo have at TOPH. The apple one is the other. I will try for sure. New subscriber. Loving your channel.
Great recipe and looks delicious! My only issue cleaning the oven after butter’s bursts. I did it only couple of times. Can not resist and try this particular recipe.
Hi! Try using European style butter. Less water in it so it melts nicely.
Zabardut recipe
Yummy
It looks delicious 😋 I want to eat my laptop🥲👌👍Thanks for the recipe
I used unsweetened almond milk because that is all I had on hand. Still turned out supper yummy!
I like your dutch sombrero
I just made this tonight! I used whole wheat flour instead of white flour; half and half not milk ,and I used a whisk and mixing bowl instead of a blender. It needed about 15 mins in the oven. Overall, it was good!!
You can just mix it by hand. That's what I do. This morning, I added a half-cup of blueberries to the batter, and it was delicious! It did puff up beautifully!
This was created by my best friend's great grandfather at their restaurant in Seattle!
My favorite way to eat these is with a generous squeeze of fresh lemon juice and a sprinkling of powdered sugar. You can add grated lemon zest to the batter if you like it extra lemony.
Looks great John! Never heard of this before, but it sure looks delicious! 😋 😋
Looks amazing! How do I adapt measurements for a 12in skillet?
They're pannekoeken! We have a restaurant in my town called Pannekoeken Huis. The waitresses used to wear fake Dutch costumes and yell "Pannekoeken!" whilst racing from the kitchen with the hot cast iron pan over their head, in order to deliver the goods to table before it collapsed. Too funny. (BTW, the best flavor is apple-cinnamon). It's been years since I've been there, definitely worth another visit!
Love that flavor combination!
We make something very similar every Christmas morning- we call it German Pancakes. Sometimes it takes over the whole oven.
I’m excited to see your version of Dutch Babies. I love these. Thank you. I love them with Meyer Lemon curd and powdered sugar.
Yummy 😋
I have always wanted to know how to make this. Thank you!
Can it be made in something other than a cast iron pan?
A smear of cream cheese plus strawberry jam are a new favorite toping over here.
YUM!
Thank you for sharing this recipe, if I don’t have a cast iron pan, can I use other container that can go into oven? Like a normal baking dish? Thank you!
wow
Reminds me of a restaurant we used to have here called Pannokoken.
The waitresses would come flying out of the kitchen yelling Pannokoken when serving one.
yumm
Hi! This looks soooo good. Can't wait to try it. Also I have a video idea. Could you do a dulce de leche cheesecake!
That's a delicious idea, thank you!
Finally, I have all the ingredients to make this 😂 😂 😂
My family calls these German pancakes, now I know why!
I love a Dutch Baby, but almost never make them. Gotta change that!
Bob’s Burgers brought me here! Finally gonna make it after years of quoting that scene 😂
I love you passion
I have made these before using a different recipe. What I love about it is I can use gluten free flour (I have Celiac Disease) and it comes out perfect. Thanks for sharing this recipe. I’m going to try it.
I'm going to add 1/3 cup of canned (un-sweetened) pumpkin & 2 teaspoons of pumpkin spice to the batter. Hope it turns out good, I'm just craving an eggy-pumpkin-pie sorta texture. Had Dutch Baby before just want to experiment.
I don't have a cast iron skillet. Is there something I can use?
On a similar jote you can make a keiserahmarrn
John does it have to be a cast iron pan to make these or can I use any pan or baking dish.😊
I. Want. That. Blender. Like. Yesterday.
I enjoy using it :)
When we put it back in the oven for 20 minutes is it 420° or 350?
Hey!!! do egg drop soup!
I've made this for decades, ...it's soooo easy , so good ,my daughters loved having this for Sunday breakfast. ..I whipped this up in the Blender , cooks in the oven, made fresh strawberry topping on the stove top while it was in the oven ... delish.
You perfectly explained how to get that Crispy edge and yes, ..don't add anything to that batter .lol ! Yes, it doesn't matter at all with " how it puffs ", ... Thank you ,John !
I grew up with them called German Pancakes
