It’s funny how all these content creators say in person go fest better… they obviously have the resources the money the time to do all that…. where as the majority typical player doesn’t have all those luxuries to do it all. Really upset and hope August final event makes up for it

@John Jones of course I don’t blame them but they can’t neglect the fact that money and resources do factor in it. It definitely makes a huge difference. Like I said the mass majority of the fan base doesn’t have access to those luxuries. I’m glad they got to go and have fun, but it do put the majority of fan base to the side.

It's because they cater to young adults with no obligations or kids. So and majority of the people that go to these events are exactly that. I don't have thousands of dollars to drop on a weekend trip to some random place Niantic chooses. But they allowed eveyone to play during global wrether you had a ticket or not. So why didn't they do better to do that for global then there random little crap research that had pansear that couldn't be shiny. With next to no spawns you have to catch for it. They care only for the people in person because they spend money while they are there and making more money. Which is why we got the bad shiny rates in global. This game has really became such a disappointment lately. And I've played since day one. SMH. When will they start to care.

See I get it. Niantic wants people to come to these events and participate. Its a big deal.
But you have a lot of players (myself included) who have been around since the beginning and have had to watch all the other players participate in the big events and feel disappointed they don't get those experiences.
So when Global go fest happens now, where everyone gets the chance to get that same experience and get shinies and get to feel like they are finally at a safari zone/ go fest that always felt out of reach, its an exciting thing. And when you have a go fest where Niantic just refuses to give everyone that great experience, it sucks. This year definitely was that for a lot of people.
Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the global event this year, but I think I was in the minority. People are left with a bad experience and I don't know what we'll see in the future. But people aren't gonna be happy with this. We've already seen it and its gonna get worse with Seattle and Sapporo happening soon.
    Anyway, just my two cents.

I know I will never be able to travel to Germany or Japan for a pogo event as I’m only 16, so it’s nice to feel included in such a fun go fest and I had a decent go fest (50 shiny) I would hope they can increase the global go fest even if that means increasing the ticket price. I would hope they either can have multiple per country yearly for example one in Chicago one in Washington and one in Miami and same thing for other country’s.

I only paid for one Go Fest it was 2020 and I got a lot of stuff. But I stopped. I only spend 20€ on that game on my account. And I play since February 2018.
I noticed that I am a lot more chilled, when I don't have a ticket and the need to catch a lot of shinys. I only wanted the spawns and XL for some of the mons there.
But still I managed to get 9 shinys. 5 of them were new. Girafarig, Hitmonchan, Pikachu with the Shaymin flower, Shroomish (ok that was 2 mins after Go Fest but still) and Burmy female. Those were new.
      3x Bronzor and 1x Meditie.
So as non ticket owner I was very happy about that outcome.

In person go fest looks great. Too bad it's borderline impossible for most people. Too expensive to travel on top of taking time off work/away from responsibilities. Everyone has access to global, so it should be the main event while in person is the fun bonus that people can attend, instead of global being a fun little bonus and in person being an actual event.

The problem with Global being the main event is that if it is the main/better event nobody would go to the in person events. I’m sure Niantic has to put a lot of money and time into these in person Go-Fests in order to make them happen at all. The in person events are better because the money/time needed to go there needs to be worth the event. No one would fly out to an event if it was anything like the Global Go-Fest.

Without disclosing that, everyone reasonably expected the shiny rates to be as they'd previously been, and were effectively sold a ticket to the event under false pretenses on what they would receive.

I agree with this. While I usually don't complain much, getting 1000 more catches than last year (actually more like 1200) and getting 20 less shinies, yeah rates were definitely off. The only time I start shiny checking is usually once 5 mintues remain so I can positively say I had that many more catches. Their wording was also a little iffy on a couple other items as before global GO fest it was just 9 free raid passes and a bundle of 3 free remotes yet after the event there were no 3 free remotes and apparently it was 9 free raid passes a day (so 18). I'm not looking for them to give out shiny rates that will happen per each pokemon, but their advertising needs to step up as it's borderline missleading.

We have to come to terms with the simple fact, that the majority within the community, will never experience an in person Go Fest. As much as we would like to, there are only a few happening per year. Traveling, the stay, costs money. Whoever can afford to go, will definitely get their money's worth.
However, I honestly thought the Global Go Fest would give that majority a similar Go Fest experience, and tbh, this year, it did not. F2p players have absolutely been neglected, and ticket holders, who were supposed to get that experience they paid for, basically got ripped off. Seeing the difference between Global and Berlin, I honestly believe, Niantic's attention and effort is gonna be put fully into in person Go Fest, and they'll abandon the Global Go Fest concept. There should have been a makeup event planned for what happened this year, people called out for it, and Niantic didn't even bother to respond. The statements they gave in that one interview with Pokemon Go Hub, already showed me that.

I feel more and more lately Niantic becoming more selfish as a company, focusing on mainly content creators and city based player where as more and more now rural players getting left behind. I understand that in gofest would have better spawns, but again more then 60% of players most likely can’t just leave everything behind for a game. I live in Sydney, Australia where my regional Pokémon has been featured around the world multiple times and yet we’ll most likely never get a in person gofest ever.
Lately Niantic have upped the price of remote raid passes, decreased the incense ability, decreased the items in the 1 pokecoin bundle, increased most rare Pokémon behind a paywall that without the free remote raid now, most of us rural players will never be able to get. I understand content creators vs city players vs rural was never going to be even, but it feels like more and more lately Niantic are forcing the rest of the player base to look at what the more privileged are able to obtain and are like ‘deal with it’.

I think if they would expand locations of in person Go Fests, it would really make a lot of people feel better about the global even not being as good. Like here in the U.S., we got an in person event in Seattle. But a lot of people are struggling in this economy and travel is outrageous. With that struggle in mind, Niantic should expand in person events to include different regions of the countries where it is taking place. For example, we have the Gofest event in Seattle, which is the Northwest corner of the country. At the same time why not give the Southeast region an event? Say somewhere like Jacksonville or even Atlanta.
I’m from Florida, and if a go fest in person event was happening in the southeast, I wouldn’t mind driving 4 to 6 hours to the event. Not sure what Niantic has to lose by making an expansion like that. It would just end up making them more money honestly, but it would be mutually beneficial for the global community.

    • @BearKub13
      @BearKub13 Před rokem +7

It would be great if they made all go fest events global in select major cities so more people could go to go fest and build community while not having to travel outrageous amounts.
For instance, as you mentioned, you are in the southeast US. What would you say about Niantic putting a go fest event in Miami or Orlando, but also putting the same event in other cities like Milan, London and Berlin, Philadelphia, Seattle, Chicago and San Francisco and assorted cities in South America, Asia, Africa and Australia.
Niantic could have an in person go fest event, and not make it locked to one city. More people would go. They would make more money, and we could build community in our cities with people we would see a lot more often.
Plus, they could make it a massive 2 day event with different spawns each day, so the first day could have 80 spawns and the second could have a similar amount and both days would have a good amount (50 or 60 with 6 new ones on both days) of shiny possible pokemon for us to hunt to keep it interesting.
They could also try to make spoofing less of an issue with an event like this by forcing you to choose the city where you want spawns to be activated for you out of the catalog of possible cities. So spoofers that want to play the event before the rest of the people in their time zone couldn't then decide that they would want to play in both Australia/NZ and the US to get double the spawns.

I can understand the logic behind nerfing the global experience, but it hurts all the same. This is the first year I have been playing where I am fortunate enough to have an in-person event in my area, and I jumped on that chance! However, it also worries me that Go-Fest, a special event by so many trainers, may in time be put back into the format of "in-person-only" and ruin the joy of the events for so many who don't have the resources to just drop everything and travel for a Go-Fest. Thousands of dollars and so much planning are required if you want to attend one of these in-person events if you are outside the area.
I know and do understand that Niantic wants to make this an in-person game, and I agree that it should be! Please don't detract from the excitement and joy of a great game experience for those who don't have the time and money to go anywhere in the world though. That's all we're asking. I’m sure there are people who think that the in-person events should be better, because you have to travel; however, as someone who can’t spend the money to go to any of the in-person Go Fests, knowing what I now know, I don’t want to support Niantic with my money - and that includes future games. The incense decisions, trying to force us to play more outside in 2021 with a raging pandemic, making Go Fests better based on who could afford expensive travel, (basically) telling people with mobility issues that PoGo is not for them, not listening to the concerns of the community, I don’t know … I kinda hope all their games flop. And I would argue that going to Germany (or Japan) is the real reason to pay the travel expenses, instead of a ticket to a PoGo event. But, hey, if this is the way Niantic want it, I’m more than happy to stop giving them money.

I'm agreeing with everyone who has made the same comments about the Global Gofest versus the the being there in person. The one issue I had with the video, and I'm really shocked that most of the content creators didn't think about it before they said it; was that they had more fun being there in person with friends to enjoy it with. Where does it say that those of us who participated in the Global GoFest didn't have fun with our friends at those events and we're still disappointed with the lackluster support that we got from Niantic. We pay very good money to participate in an event with friends and family in an event where we expect certain things that we've gotten in the past and we don't get it. And those of us who had to work to pay bills, did our best to play while we were dealing with lackluster incense that was nerfed by Niantic, was very disappointing and, very honestly, childish on their part. The idea of incense is to draw things to you, not necessarily walking and drawing to you. I'm hoping that the finale in August will make up for all the lackluster Global GoFest. Maybe it's time to do another No Go, and maybe for an entire weekend put our phones down and not play. Hit them in the pocket books again. Just a thought...

My opinion on Niantic in general is they're a good company with a great game but they have the opportunity to make that game the best it can be. They have 6 years of data and yet they are still making some rookie mistakes by not listening to their player base and prioritising those players that can afford to travel to every in person event.
Its 2022 and companies that discriminate (against those that are not able to play outside) are not going to last long. I understand Niantic have to listen to the Pokemom Company and they want to increase the longevity of the game by decreasing shiny rates for global GoFest but if they don't listen to their player base then the game won't last long enough for them release new shinies/pokemon.
As always I love the video and content. Hopefully someday I'll experience an in person event.

It was so exciting to see a global go fest in 2020 and 2021 because it allowed every fan the chance to experience even just a small part of this type of event. With the nerfing in 2022, they took that small part away and hurt the community.
It’s like watching a sporting event. Most are watching from home or on a tv. A selected few who could afford a ticket and travel got to experience it in person, but everyone still got to watch the game. Being a local streamer, even though I have followers from all over world, global go fest was a mess. The fact Niantic admitted they purposely nerfed the shiny rates was absolute trash. By far the worst Go Fest they’ve done since the first one back in 2017 Chicago. As a non sponsored, Pokémon go content creator, Niantic has consistently dropped the ball with free to play players. Being a global go fest, it should have been free. Now the go fest Berlin and Seattle, I get why you pay for those but globally, regardless of ticket status should have been free for all players. I streamed Go Fest outside, and saw very little to no people walking around playing. The issue is, unless hundreds of thousands of players complain at once, Niantic does not and will need listen to us. As much as I like Mystic7, been a sub and follower since his first Pogo video, Niantic only listens to the ‘big time’ content creators. It’s easy to boast about an event in which Niantic gives you everything you want so you can make them look good. For the normal players who play for free and spend maybe $20 a month on game, go fest was terrible. Seeing Go Fest Berlin, and all these content creators get rewarded is not sending a great message for us. We got the ‘here you go ‘go fest’
They got the ‘real’ go fest.

there has never been a major in person event in Australia in the 6 years since this game started, the closest event was a flight to Singapore.
so if the did one city per region
    north/south America
    Asia pacific
    Europe
    and then a bonus city

Not all players can travel and the in person events can't fit all players and every player deserves a go fest no matter where they live just like everyone gets community days.

When they have a pokemon go fest in in Milwaukee I will go. Other than that they freeze out 99.9% of their clients by not having it in other major markets.

Of coarse the paid to travel content creators would say in-person events are better. They did the event for free!

But what about Seattle and the two different places to play? Half downtown - and half at Seattle center. I feel like I am getting cheated that I will only have the habitat areas available for half the day. Any input would help. Thanks!

Having joined the Berlin event I will say that in person was way more fun then the global. However, there were 2 add ons you could buy and sadly enough those were not really worth it. You had 12 raid passes extra a day (did not get communicated it was a day) but during the go fest hours there were almost no raids in the park. You could do them before and after the event time so it did make up for it (kinda). But then we come to the egg hatcher... having 1/4 egg distance with double candy/XL/stardust etc on paper feels amazing... But the eggs were just awfull... I hated it, nothing special and almost no chance for a 10km egg in hopes of something good. That was a real bummer.
In general I still had an amazing experience and know that I won't buy the add ons next time unless changed.
