      Quest 3 is such a great headset. Idk if it's a game changer or not yet. I think that'll depend on how much and how well Meta updates it with new features. If they stay on it and add features like with the Quest 2, it'll be an amazing platform.

      I bought both. Right now, the mixed reality is where the biggest improvement can be seen. It's immediately noticeable and actually useable now. It is also much more powerful for mobile VR, although currently all games are looking and running identically pretty much as the Quest 3 for some reason still runs at a really low resolution in standalone, so you still see aliasing and shimmer. That should improve though.
      I still prefer the Quest Pro as a wired PCVR headset, and returned the Quest 3 as its mixed reality, although much better than the Pro's useless effort, is still not good enough to really be anything more than a gimmick feature right now, but if I didn't have a Pro already I'd probably say the Quest 3 is the best headset on the market right now.
      It's annoying that Meta has given us two great headsets, but both have shortcomings. Quest Pro really needs that XR2 Gen 2 chip and the depth sensor. But Quest 3 needs better QLED displays and local dimming, plus face and eye tracking.
      Ultimately I still prefer the build quality, design and comfort of the Quest Pro so returned Quest 3. I'm hoping Meta announce a Pro refresh as that's really what I want, a Pro 2 or a Quest 3 Pro.

    • @kevinbrook7033
      @kevinbrook7033 Před 9 měsíci

      @@rangerkayla8824 I do have both. Well I did until today when I returned the Quest 3. No question Quest 3 is a great headset, but for wired PCVR, on a 13900K, 4090 going back and forth between the two for the last two weeks I just prefer Quest Pro for PCVR.
      It really depends on what people play. Quest 3 is a little sharper, and the chip allows for higher bitrate encoding. I could hit 960 mb/s on Quest 3 whereas my Quest Pro gets intermittent audio stutter above 500 mb/s.
      Crucially, for me though, in the games I care about MSFS primarily, PC to PCVR mods and single player narrative driven games like Red Matter 2, 7th Guest etc, I just prefer the Pro for its better colurs and blacks.
      I might buy a Quest 3 again in a few weeks/months. But it's lacking enough premium features for me that the Pro has, that makes me want to wait for a Pro 2 rather than get the Quest 3.
      Right now, it's a bit frustrating, as both headsets are better in different ways, and I want the best of both in a single headset.

    Thanks for your video. People treated me like I was crazy (or worse) on Discord and Reddit for saying how the SDE is worse (more noticeable) on the Quest 3 compared to the Quest 2 and this video confirms that very clearly. Coming from the Quest 2 I was shocked to notice the SDE so easily on the Quest 3 (never noticed it on the Quest 2, never looked for it) and for a several days I thought my headset was defective given that pretty much everyone was saying that SDE was gone. Amazing how subjective or even misleading some reviewers are.

    • @123TheCloop
      @123TheCloop Před 6 měsíci +4

      SDE is subjective, not everyone can see it but SDE being almost non visible in the Q2 is easily contributed to the fact the overal image quality is blurry, so this could easily be hiding that SDE problem behind blur, Q3 more than likely has SDE but its only visible because the image clarity is a cut above the rest unless your going for Pimax stuff, Q3 still dumps all over the G2 and stuff for the price point.
      Also what are you claiming is SDE? because many have this misconception that "just seeing pixels" is SDE which flat out isnt the case, SDE is seeing the space between pixels which ends up giving you an "odd pattern" or "grid array" that destracts from the image itself. its funny because higher resolution and the arrangement of the pixels being diagonal now not vertical/horizontal means the SDE on Q3 is actually lower than a Q2 and thats accounting for the clarity loss on the Q2s image. so chances are what your claiming is SDE is not SDE but visible pixels which ANYONE will see

    Be aware; the Q3 has a VERY irritating effect due to the lenses and angled panels, the far left and right top corners, you get a 'vignette' effect. It's not so bad in dark scenes, but it's very obvious in brightly lit areas. You eventually get used to it, but it's always there. Think of it like your nose. You don't realise it, but it's always there. Close one eye, then look towards that eye - you see your nose taking up about 1/5th of your field of view. When you look through both eyes, your brain essentially erases it from your vision - bit like post processing for the optics. The same thing happens in the Q3, but it's far more obvious. I am going to guess that, over time and constant use, your brain will probably manage to compensate for it... but it IS there, and unfortunately not many reviewers I've seen have mentioned it.

      @GOKU10SSJ Oddly I don't find it so bad...but then I came from the Rift, and Quest 1.. the God Rays were... special in those headsets! So I'm probably a little more tolerant. But yes, there is still a little glare on bright areas. I still think it's fairly minor though.
      Just to be clear, the pancake lenses are game-changing. They have a huge sweetspot, and the fact the Q3 uses dual panels, as opposed to the Quest 2 Single panel, it just makes wearing it a joy. (assuming you're using a different headstrap... and put some xtra foam on the top of the interface... and you found a battery headstrap that actually works....)

      Pancake lenses are what made me upgrade from the Quest 2. The sweet spot seems 3 times bigger, with 2x the clarity on the rest of the screen. FOV also seems better. It's meh compared to the quest pro.
      In fact I'd say it's worse.
      We compared quest pro and quest 3 with a mate and while the pass through is better, it's not as good as in this video.
      But the resolution is very similar, especially in pcvr, and the lack of local dimming really hurts the quest 3, especially in pcvr.
      I would say the quest is a slight overall upgrade over the quest pro, and a slight downgrade in pcvr
