Rabbi, I have a question, if you play the shofar like you just did, do you automatically complete the mitzvah of hearing the shofar? Or the sound has to come from someone else?

@@holyclan yes. You can hear the sounds from your own blowing

Dear Rabbi, Are there specific calls on the shofar or does the player improvise the call from the 3 note groupings? Is there a specific call to worship?

Thank you so much for this video! I just bought my shofar a few weeks ago but I learned it so easily thanks to you! We blew them tonight for Rosh Hoshana and I was able to keep it consistent! Will continue to practice as well though!

That's cool Rabbi my Shofar is on its way and I'll be playing it at the men's Word Disciple Workshop this May. 4 days of unplugness, no cell phones or watches. Should have plenty of time to learn how to play it so I thank you for showing how to do it. 🙏

This was a brilliant lesson on how to make a beautiful Godly sound. I had no problem making a sound with my larger Kudu shofar but the smaller one completely threw me. I did the typical brass player thing with the larger shofar which worked well but it does not work on the smaller one at all. When you cupped the shofar with your lips and still made a sound I was stunned. So I tried this technique on the smaller shofar and it worked perfectly and also produced a beautiful sound. Thank you so much for sharing. This really helped. ❤

It’s really difficult to blow the shofar. Thank you for the help! Are shofars blessed when they are made? Is there a blessing that I can do over mine or anointing?
