    My son and myself went for a over night camp and he only had short lengths of parachute cord for his hammock, I know hundreds of knots but he is one of those blokes who cannot learn to tie a simple knot, and does not have the spare cash to buy hammock straps.
    This one way worked as described and he has even remembered how to tie it.

    I spent so much time and money buying Whoopie Slings, Double rap rings, webbing, etc. but I think this is just far better. It has adjustability, ease of setup, ease of take down, and it uses a knot I've been using all of my life. Had I seen this video first before I spent a hundred dollars on extra hammock gear, I could've saved myself a lot of time and money.

    • @Zvejas_EzYs
      @Zvejas_EzYs Před 3 lety

      This knot requires a double rope, and i guess would not work with amsteel, i bet your whoopie slings are much lighter, then two pieces of rope you would have to carry with you to use this knot ;) Becket hitch does the same and requires 2x times less rope

    Been looking at various ideas and systems people use for hammock hanging and many seem like they might indeed be simple and quick after doing it often enough to gain a kind of muscle memory of the technique. But I think you have "broken the code" so to speak. This IS simple and appears effective, the biggest concern everyone mentions is the take down portion specifically knots etc that won't bind up from pressure. I can see your method would not, so we've got simple, quick, secure AND ease of tear down. (and adjustment). I will give this a try, it looks like the solution. Thanks guys.

      Thanks a lot Denis. I swear, back when I started doing hammocks I was using a cheap $5 hammock with crappy rope, and I hung just fine. Then I see all this stupidity making the system now complex with webbing, hardware, the ridge lines, and all sorts of unnecessary junk that cost hundreds of dollars.
      Your video reminded me that less is more and going back to basics trumps sophisticated expensive systems any day of the week.
      I started spending more because I wanted a convenient lightweight adjustable system. My old system was not adjustable. But with this knot I can use my old system again and be adjustable. Thanks!
