I'm Indian, born in India and raised in America. One point in my life a few years ago, I had a job in door to door sales. I happen to come upon a Palestinian residence. First minute, they listened to me and during the conversation I happened to mention that food they are cooking smells delicious. He asked if I was hungry. I said yes. They invited me into their home immediately and got me fully fed. Delicious food and nice people.

    That looks awesome!
Incidentally, sumac is not poisonous. Poison sumac, which kind of looks like sumac, is related to poison ivy and poison oak. Real sumac grows all over and some people make wine from it.

Native Americans use sumac regularly in our food! It grows as a "weed" in america. White sumac is poisonous, red sumac is tasty!
